Cheap transportation. Took the BC Ferries to Victoria. Nothing too wow. The trip was pretty quick. It took around 2.5 hours and costed less than $20 one way. The ferry has multiple floors. They have a cafeteria on one of the floors. Food was blah but it is inexpensive. This is the only place for me to get the White Spot pirate pak. The actual White Spot would say I am too big or too old to get it. Here they don't age discriminate. But again, the food is not as tasty as the actual White Spot restaurant. There is a tiny kids play area on the Ferry. It is super basic. One thing not cool about the ferry is that they don't have a lot of areas or outlet plugs for their customers to charge their phone. They do have carrels desks (less than 5) with outlets plugs. But that is where that ends in terms of outlet plugs. Super sad in today's world. No outlet plugs means no entertainment. I guess BC Ferries expects all their guests to be entertained by staring out at the water. BC Ferries provides cheap transportation to the Islands.

Very clean ferries, although of course the food is very overpriced..... But directions and signs to terminals and berths are very clear. Although most of the staff were very amazing and helpful, some of them were quite rude.

Tag team, back again! I meant with a 2-year holding period...the poutine: 8/10. The Monty Mush burger combo: fries 8/10. Burger 10/10, it was scrumptious! The kids had the Pirate Strip/Cheeseburger combos must've been good, no complaints. Good WIFI while near port. Clean overall the ferry and staff friendly / professional...a decent time!

We rode the BC Ferry from Vancouver to Victoria on a 4pm ferry. It wasn't too packed when we got there. We were able to check out the Tswwassen Quay Market while we waited. They announced our ferry had arrived and they loaded the cars quickly and left on schedule. On board there is: * A gift shop * Cafeteria (with yummy looking burgers and sweet potato fries) * Kids play area * WIFI (YAY!) * Awesome views * TV sets and comfortable chairs * Business cubicles to plug in your laptop and have some privacy * Snack and soda vending machines * Pet area The ride was very comfortable and we were in Victoria in no time (Our ride was about 1 hr and 45 minutes). The views were just so relaxing and definitely made us feel like we were on a vacation. Car plus driver and passenger costed us about $70 one way and $60 on the return. Why the difference? We have no idea.

Love, exciting and new Come aboard! We're expecting you Love, life's sweetest reward Let it flow, it floats back to you... What an operation. The model of efficiency. It works like clockwork. It's about an hour's drive from Vancouver to Tsawwassen where the ferry departs. Make an online reservation in advance, and you get to wait in a special lane where drive onto the boat first. You deserve it, right? It also gives you peace of mind because the occupancy capacity probably gets heady during the summer. Once you're on, you lock up the car and climb up to hang out on deck or in the seating area just a level below. The Love Boat soon will be making another run The Love Boat promises something for everyone Set a course for adventure Your mind on a new romance The crossing through the Georgia Strait is gorgeous (see photos). It lasts close to ninety minutes, and there is even a nature specialist who gives lectures on the local flora and fauna. I'd avoid the movie-multiplex-level food since it's pricey and stale. This was my first time on the ferry as a motorist, and it does add up - C$46.75 for a standard vehicle plus C$14 per passenger. Yikes! I would have told Jamie W. to hide in the trunk. And love won't hurt anymore It's an open smile on a friendly shore It's love...Welcome aboard It's love! The Swartz Bay side on Vancouver Island is even more commercial with a fast-food cafeteria in full operation while you wait. Food still looks awful, so make sure to fill up on those Nanaimo bars in Victoria before you head back to the mainland. Run fast when you get on the boat because everyone grabs a chair on the way back. It's exhausting to buzz through the Butchart Gardens, tea at the Empress, and make it back to the ferry queue for the 5PM sailing. But this is a must-do for any tourist, so just accept the consequences.

Can't argue with this service - went from Victoria to Vancouver [Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen]. It's a bit expensive if you've got a car, but with a reservation, you get first on/first off privilege so that's nice. Didn't feel any rocking but there was an odd vibration on the ferry the whole ride. Tons of tourist brochures near the rear of the ferry to help entertain you on the ride and find things to do at your destination. I've added a photo from our view of docking at Tsawwassen from the front of the boat. Whee!

I LOVE THE BC FERRIES! anytime our family went into victoria this was our way of getting to the island. the fact of driving your car onto a large boat was crazy to me as a kid. all of these people and all of the cars make one heavy boat. it was always a pretty long trip back and forth but the scenery was always breathtaking. i always had to go up to the top deck and feel the brisk wind and hope to see the whales in the waters below. well i was lucky enough to see a family of whales once and it was remarkable. they seemed to be chasing along side us as they thought it was some sort of game. make sure you head down into the restarant or caferteria for some suprisingly good food. and the duty free shops are a must. lucky for me i never get seasick so this will always be my way of getting around to the many different islands next time i'm up there. it's sure beats flying.

Nicest view ever for only $14 one way from Victoria to Vancouver [Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen]. It was a little crowed because it was Friday before Thanksgiving Day, but everyone was in a good mood since they had Monday and most likely Tuesday off as well. Besides the fantastic two hour view.. they have many cafes, an arcade, gift shop, and numerous outlets to charge your electronic devices. I really enjoyed taking the BC ferry and wouldn't mind taking it again. It's a bit pricey if you're taking your car across since you're paying for each passenger plus the car. If you can, just walk onboard and leave your car elsewhere, it's less of a hassle anyway. + good fares + great onboard amenities - the lines get extremely long at the cafes

BC Ferries provides good basic service on a fairly consistent basis. Sure, there are some hiccups from time to time...but overall I'm quite happy with their service.

August 8 & 11, 2025 - Port Angeles/Victoria…read more As booked months ahead for our vehicle on the Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria ($218 round trip). Boarding was smooth--staff guided us through every step, from passport and pet vaccination checks to parking on the ferry. The vessel was clean, comfortable, and had indoor/outdoor seating, snacks, and spotless restrooms. Crossing took about 90 minutes each way. Customs in both directions was quick and straightforward. Before our return, we got an email about a cycling event closing nearby roads--appreciated the heads-up so we could plan an alternate route. Overall, an efficient, well-organized, and stress-free experience for first-time ferry travelers.

They were, in effect, penalizing us for getting there early. I asked the attendant why, out of curiosity he was putting us in that spot and he said because of the weight of the car. Meanwhile, I saw huge passenger vans that were far larger than the car I was driving in the regular lanes. Oddly, the attendance when we got there didn't give us the forms to fill out and the customs officer had to tell us to walk back and get the forms ourselves. Honestly, it felt like incompetence. However, the experience was completely opposite going from Port Angeles to Victoria. We got there early, and they put us into a proper lane and we got off earlier to reflect the fact we had arrived earlier. And none of the bullshit that happened on the Canada side. If not for the Canada return trip, I would rate it four or five stars. However, I know that it was probably the same boat and the same crew and the same concession workers. Whatever.

The harbor is divided into 4 active sections. The cruise ships dock at Ogden Point in the Outer Harbour. The water taxi services the Inner, Upper, and Middle Harbour. It's a great transport option that is more affordable than a standard taxi. There can be a wait time. You may want to book a water taxi ahead of time if you're traveling in a group. The boat can only take up to 12 passengers. Our BC Bites & Sights guide booked it in advance so there was only a 10 minute wait at the Fisherman's Wharf pick up point. We saw a couple of sights along the way. There was a great view of the seaplane port, and the Empress Hotel in the Inner Harbor. We also passed under the Johnson Street Bridge with its beautiful aqua blue lights. We arrived to our destination (Mermaid Wharf) in a matter of minutes. Yes, I know we could have walked to Chinatown. It was already part of the tour, so why not? It would have taken longer to walk, and it was a cold & windy day. Some people in our group said it felt like being near the Great Lakes. The wind around Shoal Point was brutal that evening. I'm sure it's much worse in the Winter. It was fun! I think this is considered to be a Top 10 attraction here, and not just a ferry service. They do offer tours of the Inner Harbour as well as the Gorge Waterway. The latter one would be great for wildlife enthusiasts. That's definitely a tour I'd like to take one day.

These are small ferry rides with at most 7-8 other folks, so you almost get a very personal experience on the waters since the captain/host has the time to connect, take questions, etc. You are sitting almost at the water level which is another plus as well of these small ferries. The ferry left on time and brought us back on time. Our captain/host was amazing, well informed, spunky and just balanced the fun and the chatter perfectly. We did get a good amount of waves on the second half of the ride and the kids really got a kick out of it. We even managed to see a seal and see the pedestrian bridge open to allow a ferry carrying rocks to pass on our ride, which was just pure luck. Other things that you can expect to see is lots of seaplanes landing/taking off, a variety of boats - patrol, sailing, rowing boats and then the larger commercial ferries, private yatchs, etc. Even though we did not have to pay for our toddler, we thought that the tickets are still expensive and wish there were some discounted windows where folks could try to shave off a few dollars.

The first agent did not tell me that the ferry left at an earlier time on Thursdays. I did not receive a confirmation email and the only reason I found out about the earlier time was that I went to check my seat selections. I called again and the first representative I spoke to, Dana, was incredibly rude on the phone. I requested to change my departure date and she replied, "Do you have a booking number or what? What do you want me to do with this?" I asked for a different agent and she said I could call again. I ended up speaking with Gail, who was rudcondescending and kept interrupting. I'm not sure if these agents are overworked or not getting paid enough but they need a refresher on their customer service skills. It's a shame because I used to recommend the Clipper and looked forward to these trips which I usually take 2-3 times a year. But this past experience has made me hesitant and might consider using an alternative route.
