This was actually a very fun spot for people/groups of all ages. Definitely a family friendly option, and cute for couples as well. The only downside if you're coming as a family ... is that you'll be spending hundreds of dollars for about two-three hours of activity (most of that time is spent waiting in two lines). Price aside though, the views are beautiful, it's not overly crowded, and everything does feel high quality. The treewalk is beautiful and the alternative return route feels like a gentle, quiet hike through nature. For those two lines, one is for the glass box at the top floor (purely a photo opp spot as you'd get better views outside of the box) and the second is for the slide down (FUN, terrifying to me, but a must). There was a food area including one airstream trailer that served floats and soft serve/ice cream (I forget what exactly) which was pretty fun and tasty. There's another airstream trailer at the entrance by the gift shop that sold coffee and other desserts (I think). Parking was easy. The drive to get here could be part of the adventure. So it was my first time going to Malahat with family from out of town. The price of admission is pretty steep, 50 bucks for adults, 46 for seniors, and 36 for children. We had a party of 12 people, and I was hoping for some incentives for larger groups or for BC locals, but there was none... Parking was free. Entering the facility was a nice nature walk. You could either walk on the wooden walkway they have constructed or follow the nature path. Either way, both were nice to experience. Arriving at the Malahat tower, it was a nice incline, nothing too overpowering, but the view was great, and seeing eagles flying above you was such a nice experience. When arriving at the top, the 360 view was incredible. You can either walk back down or take the slide down. I really recommend the slide. It's fast but really, really fun :) Oh, we arrived the day before Mother's Day and didn't find out the next day on their social media that there was a promotion. If you went to Malahat on the Mother's Day weekend, mothers were given free admission on another visit, but we weren't offered that. We had 3 mothers who went that day, too! Great place to go for a walk. The scene at the top is amazing. Must take a photo at the glass cube area. Walking on the net is a bit tricky. You might want to not look down. Sliding all the way down was the highlight. We grabbed coffee and soft serve afterwards. Take Luke's lane back to the entrance. I strongly recommend. read more

We visited at opening (9am) on a Wednesday morning, and it was the perfect brisk but sunny day to do the walk and to take in the view. It's a little pricey and it doesn't take long to get to the top, but the views really are stunning and like nothing we'd ever seen before. Afterwards, we walked back to the visitor's center via Luke's trail. We didn't have kids with us this time, but the trail is perfect for young ones. There is a scavenger hunt/hide and seek set up along the way and lots of opportunities to learn about the land as you walk. We are glad we went! read more

Shout out to the café, there were a lot of different food options that were well priced and the staff is very friendly. This is a totally unique attraction that is worth a 90 minute visit if you're looking for a short trip out of the city. The skywalk is a ten story, accessible open air tower that gives various landscape views on your way up. The structure is unique and getting to to up and see views that you would normally have to do a long hike for feels like cheating. Vancouver island is beautiful and this is a relatively painless way to get a Birds Eye view. There is a slide to take you down (totally optional) that adults and children alike enjoy. It's quick and made me feel like a kid again. At the bottom is a snack bar, food trucks (try the vegan soft serve!) and shaded seating. Kids would love this place as they a slide to go down. Clean and well maintained. They also have a picnic area in case you want to hang around for a little longer. For $35.95, I thought this was such a fun and memorable experience! I'm a sucker for this kind of activities - great views, some exercise, and a fun option to get back down! My husband, on the other hand, is terrified of heights so he definitely didn't walk up and stayed at the bottom since it's pretty high up. To get to the spiral, you'd have to walk on a trail which is relatively flat all the way. Once you get there, you have the option to go to the top of the tower/adventure net or the picnic area. The walk up can be a workout but it was fun 'cause the view was beautiful! You could also choose to walk up 161 flight of stairs which is located in the middle of the spiral if that's your thing. At the very top is the adventure net where you can see straight to the bottom of the spiral. A little scary if you ask me since it was wobbly and kids were jumping on it. On our way back down, my sister and I used the slide. There was quite a line but worth the experience! Be careful not to get a burn so keep knees inside the mat. read more

Expensive for what it is. It's a creative attraction, slide is cool. The net you can no longer jump on. There's a forest walk for kids that has a scavenger hunt. Strangely, there's a lack of interpretive panels, for example there's random kids games on the suspended walkway with zero signs or explanation. There was an overall lack of information about the history of the skywalk itself, and weirdly a lack of in depth information about the First Nations. What interpretive panels there are are incredibly general, especially panels on the skywalk itself, which are about Vancouver Island in general, not about the specific geography or topography or ecology of Malahat itself or this particular region. Hlthe highlight besides the slide was this tricky game at the playground. The positive is they thought to put lots of hands on activities for kids, including along the line for the slide. I'll admit & confess - I initially thought this was going to be one of the hokiest attractions to ever be built - until I walked up to the top! The Malahat SkyWalk opened in 2018. Normally a 30-minute drive from downtown Victoria, the trip here took a little longer due to backup on the highway. Our group used Island Time Tours to shuttle us from downtown to here. You can drive to MS, but when I'm on vacay I absolutely hate driving. Upon arrival at the MS, get ready to let out a lot of - ooohhhs & aaahhhs as you walk up & once you get to the top - stunning picture perfect views all around. You can even see Mount Baker 150 miles away. HEADS UP ALERT - very grannie friendly aka bring the wheelchair & walkers for all the Golden Years age category. Baby mamas can even bring the strollers. However, no high heals recommended. The slide down is so fast but easy that even grandpa can even go down - no problem. The walk up is at a chill 5 degree grade aka super easy no need to wear those extra thick fake Skechers that over promised to massage your feet. Ok so once you get to the top the views are 100% certified spectacular! Oh make sure you go on a clear day or you're wasting your time. Remember, the slide down is an absolute must! It's mandatory to scream loudly & cry with excitement while going down! Island Time Tours gave us 2 hours up here & it was plenty of time. Tag MS as a must do! read more

Went there last year and it was nice but it wasn't really worth the price at today's rate. You don't need to spend a lot of time here. It is basically one structure where you walk up and then slide down. The view is nice but you can see the same view from the mountain atop. There are free parking at the Malahat Skywalk attraction. It costs $35 per adult back then but they raised the price recently. It requires about 30 mins to 45mins to see everything. I spent 7 years in the Boy Scouts, I'm not much of a camper or hiker...but the Malahat Skywalk is the perfect amount of hiking for most of us lazy overweight Americans. The initial hike is mostly flat and manmade, and it rarely gets above 70 degrees in Canada. The Skywalk itself is extremely gradual on the incline, I think most people can easily handle it. The 5 story structure is well maintained, provided wide panoramic of the surrounding forests, river, and mountains. Walk on the net rope for a thrill. And do not be a chicken...use the long twisting slide to go down, its fast and fun! $35CAD/$26USD Adults $21CAD/1$6USD Kids I found this reasonable as it was entertaining, beautiful, and the maintenance probably takes quite a lot of work. But if you're broke backpacker or vanlifer, or have a huge family, I can understand this might be more of a 4 Star experience. read more

Truly a breathtaking experience when in Van Island. Very nice spiral structure ascending all the way up the sky. Easy to walk up and down. Option to slide Down too if feeling adventurous. Safe and clean surroundings. Staff available to answer questions and for guidance. Up on top, you will be rewarded with breath taking view of the island and the saanich peninsula. Really beautiful! Only negative side is ...very pricey! Not everyone Will find it affordable. But to try once is ok. A family pack will be around $100. $43 for 1 ticket for 1 adult? You have got to be out of your mind! If this was an ALL IN price for the whole family, I MIGHT consider this price, and I'm still on the fence at that rate. You'll never get my money if I'm expected to pay $140 for the whole family. A long walk up with a good view and a long wait for a generic slide? You need to seriously rethink your strategy. I can guarantee you, you're missing a LOT of business here. I can just head on over to hike Mt Finlayson or up the malahat and enjoy the nice views from there, for free, hit up the pool on the way home for less than $20 for all of us where we can enjoy more than one slide and not waiting hours to go down it. read more

I waited a week to write this to see if I was still angry. I am still very upset about our experience so here I go - on a vacation we picked a random week day to go to Malahat after being excited for a month to see it, drove an hour, paid the entry fee for 4 people (about $150). We arrived the same time as about half a dozen school buses filled with middle schoolers. The place exploded in chaos. Over 100 children screaming at the top of their lungs, shoving other guests out of the way, running at top speed and crashing into people. They took over the entire facility like feral badgers. My two autistic children were besides themselves after being forcefully shoved multiple times and cursed at by the students. I talked to multiple teachers there who were unable to control their students. The line for the slide was over an hour long, the mesh net at the top was completely inaccessible due to the kids being wall to wall on it, even the tables and the kids playground were covered with out of control kids, who were being chaperoned by a tiny handful of helpless teachers. Every Malahat staffer we came across was so empathetic and apologetic, acknowledging how badly they felt for all the other guests. We wound up spending maybe 10 minutes on the skywalk and then left because my kids were crying. We walked back to the front, explained the situation and asked for a refund. While the person at the ticket office was empathetic, they kept trying to give us tickets for another day rather than refund. They asked the manager, still tried to give us tickets for another day, not seeming to care that we were not coming back by here at any point on our trip. We kept pressing and they finally, grudgingly, agreed to refund the kids tickets only. My oldest at this point had bolted into the parking lot, as at this point the middle schoolers spilled out the front and he panicked and ran, so we took the deal and left. From the number of staff acknowledging how badly the whole event had gone, my family suffering both verbal and physical altercations from the middle schoolers, and the facility being unwilling to refund us in full makes it so I would never recommend this place. read more

The skywalk is pretty cool but damn it is high. Be ready for that!! If you can get up and jump on the tramp at the top OR hit the slide down it looks super fun. This is a nice attraction (or distraction) for families and groups to get outside and take a nice walk. You can view both US and Canadian islands in the distance. One major gripe I have is that you need to have a mandatory mat to ride the slide down which requires up to an hour wait to get one. Afterwards you still need to wait about half an hour to get onto the slide so you see many people standing around doing nothing. We had to forgo that option entirely because we didn't have time to wait around nor wanted to. The website should be much more clearer to describe this process. The staff were quite friendly and helpful, but I'm not sure if the $33 ticket price is justified for this experience. read more

The only down sides are that if you come from the wrong direction there's no U-turn for 10 mins. Really fun and cool adventure, tons of cool things to see. Cool little trail or suspended bridge walk to take you to the spiral ramp building. Cool views all the way to the top, with a cool little rope floor section you can stand over and look down the entire building. We did wait an hour for the slide which looks like it stays consistently busy all day currently. Definitely worth it, tons of cool views however wish there is a few extra things to do to divert the amount of traffic so the slides don't end up being a long wait. read more

We went as a family and had an awful and traumatic experience. Both my wife and daughter were badly injured from the slide. My daughter had a severe metal burn on the back of her hand. My wife had bruises on both sides of her shoulders, burns and scrapes on her leg, arm and elbow. My wife also bumped her face on the slide and developed a black eye. The First Aid was terrible and below standard as they had "level 100 First Aid and was legally not able to help" but offered to call an ambulance. They provided a few bandages which were too small. They did not even have antibiotic ointment! We've been on many slides. In our opinion this slide is dangerous. read more

it was closed recently due to someone jumping off of the skywalk and now they have implemented several changes. these changes include no able to visit the place if you are by yourself. the attraction opened a year ago. It was my 71st birthday yesterday and 4 of us arrived at the Malahat not knowing what to expect but were excited. Well, it turned out better than our expectations; the climb (and I have two knee replacements and one lung) was not at all that difficult, the scenery was unbelievable at the top; the structure was very well built. On arriving at the top, 3 of us 4 ventured out on the "adventure net". It was scary but I was determined to do it. So glad I did with the help of my hubby and friend. We then descended to the 8th story and were very anxious about the slide. We all decided to go and try it and so glad we did. It was totally worth it and we all wanted to do it again!!! It may be a little on the expensive side, but what isn't these days, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. As well, ROSIE, our greeter and ticket taker was exceptional. She greeted me with a happy birthday girl smile and even radioed ahead letting them know I was coming and to take care of me, which they did very well. I thank all the friendly staff at the Malahat for making my 71st birthday one to remember!!!! read more
