Second time going to BC Kitchen. Tbh I was more disappointed this time than the first time I came here. The first time I was here a few months ago - I absolutely loved it and enjoyed it. This time around, I felt like our service was much slower (even with the food/drinks coming out). For me particularly, I enjoyed my dish but I also felt like it lacked some flavour. Came by mid week to sample their Dine Out Vancouver menu...which looked good on paper. The restaurant is at the back end of the casino on the 2nd floor. The room is quite large with multiple seating options including booths and multiple screens showing sports. It has high ceilings and large floor to ceiling windows. We were two of only four patrons in the entire restaurant. Our server was pleasant but not very attentive as we often had to wave to get her attention. We split the caesar salad and dry ribs for the appies. The salad was ok...nothing special and the dry ribs were pretty good. We split the burger, fried chicken and rack of ribs for the mains. The burger was the star of the show...juicy, tasty and I liked the addition of the onion ring. The chicken was bad...a boneless breast partially battered and over fried. The ribs were tasteless...think these must have been boiled first. Churros for dessert....they were cooked well but served with rock hard dulce de leche. They do have a nice selection of beer on draft and wines. It was not a very positive food experience and I have no plans to return. read more

Booked a few days in advance for 4 of us for meal before Whitecaps match. Received 3 or 4 email reminders over those few days then request for confirmation of attendance on the day of reservation. Got to venue only to realize this was in a casino and we needed ID for entry. At no time was there anything to indicate a casino at which point I'd not have booked and as we'd not driven we had no ID on us anyway. Just a heads up to others possibly making our error. read more

So it's been about 5 years since being back here so felt like some Primerib. Booked the Reservations via OpenTable which was extremely easy.. got to the restaurant 20 minutes early and other than us there were only a handful of tables occupied. The lady running the Bar received us right away and was very accommodating as to where we'd like to seat.. not much has changed over the years other than this young lady who was attentive plus gave some good commentary of her recommendations .. the tacos came really quick but given that there were hardly any customers..the cod tacos were served on a soft tortillas some raw cabbage, the battered cod stick and some sauce.. served 3 to a plate ( thank goodness it was a happy hour item at 25% off)... the Primerib showed up not too long afterwards .. it wasn't hot .. but more tender than the previous times I came.. served with 5!small pieces of oven roasted potatoes.. 3 small sprigs of Broccoli and two small sprigs of cauliflower ($34.95).. all in all a moderate improvement on the food but the service was good. Came to BC Kitchen for the family bay prime rib special but they ran out of prime rib. Instead they gave us 8oz striploin instead. One of the strip loin was cooked too much as opposed to medium rare. They replaced the steak and it was done just right. The steak was tender and very nicely seasoned. The only disappointing item is the Yorkshire pudding. It was not the typical big and fluffy light pudding but about 1/4 of the usual size and dense. The server mentioned they changed from the typical recipe to this new recipe. I suggest they go back to the typical Yorkshire pudding. Overall it was a nice family day dinner. The front restaurant reception helped us swiping the Encore cards so we can get the specials and our server brought complimentary popcorn as soon as we sat down. We'll be back to try the weekend prime rib but hoping the Yorkies will be better and we'll come back for their other daily specials. read more

This place is hit or miss. I don't know if it's the menu or the cooks that keep changing, but it's not for the better. In the past I've had awesome veggie pizza from here, but it's no longer on the menu it seems. The margarita pizza is good but way smaller then before. I've always had excellent chicken wings, but the last time I had them, they were very fatty, had little flavour and only gave us 12 not 13. They also gave us 3 of the smallest pieces of wilted celery I've ever seen. This last order was placed for take away. Even though I had called it in and came to pick it up for the time quoted, I still had to sit and wait an additional 20 mins before or was ready. At least they have comfy couches to sit on. It's right in the casino, so it is rather noisy. The service has always been pleasant. The drinks leave something to be desired. read more

I tried the Dine Out Vancouver menu at BC Kitchen with a group of friends. They have a lot of tables that can accommodate large groups. There were several large TV screens showing sports, giving it a sports bar feel. The food was good, but nothing was particularly noteworthy. I ordered a seafood chowder, a harissa crusted salmon entree with couscous, and sticky pudding. The entree was small. Service was friendly and attentive. Note: the restaurant is inside the casino. Overall, BC Kitchen is fine; however, there are better restaurants downtown, so I would only recommend BC Kitchen if you are already in the casino. read more

This is a place I was curious to try. They have a very sporty vibe. The service was decent and the staff was kind. The food and drinks were okay. I had a gin and tonic and prime rib dinner, which is the special on Sundays. The gin and tonic was okay, the prime rib dinner was alright. I would say it doesnt have the value of 25$. If you have an encore card, you can get 10$ off. It isnt worth it otherwise. I dont know if I will be back for food. Maybe drinks and sports. read more

I came here for dinner before a hockey game. I was pretty happy with the service we received. We were seated right away even though the restaurant was fairly busy, and were greeted by a server shortly after sitting down. The server had quite a few tables and was very good at taking care of them all/checking in to make sure we were okay. I ordered the southwest taco salad (no dressing, cheese or taco crisps, as I can't have gluten or dairy and wanted a salad). We also got the burger with cheddar cheese and a side of fries. My salad was standard; not very special ($13.50), and the burger ($12.50) was okay. I took a bite of the patty and it seemed kind of dry/like it was frozen. Just paid for dinner and will never come back or recommend. Food garbage, service garage...disappointed. Even after reading the reviews..I figure if they are in this nice hotel and the hostess (Emily) was extremely nice..I would give them a chance. A lot of items people mention they ate are not on the menu. I asked what seafood came in the seafood rice and was told just shrimp. Yet there was something else, white and fishy in there. I order cauliflower as well. 1st few peices were very room temp but the top was hot. So I am guessing my good waited for my friend rice to come out. Ma'am it's on the started menu ...I wanted my food. I swear she just look blank. I explain I am vegetarian and she did offer to ask the chef for some suggestions. I asked about the dirty mac n cheese that I saw other speak about but that's no longer on the menu. We had one drink and just waited for her to come back and check on us. We finally caught the eyes of the manager and ask him for check. Literally it's only 2 tables so why is she not balancing servicing us. Please do better with your staffing. Solidify a menu...Asian food and bar food don't usually go together. Literally in the room trying to figure out what we are going to eat tonight..after spending $65 15 mins ago. Avoid at all cost. I decided to check out this joint because it is in my hotel and after a day of travel I didn't feel like going anywhere, convenient I know... anyway this is a little sports bar in the casino area of the JW Marriott Parq in downtown Vancouver BC. It's got a nice vibe which I really liked, and the hostess and server were extremely welcoming. As I browsed the menu it was really simple, which I appreciate. I don't like to feel like I'm reading a book when I'm hungry, and I don't really read much anyway! Haha, anyway they have your standard pub food and a couple of pizza options. I decided on the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. If you've never had it before, I would equate it to pastrami. The sandwich presentation was awesome, and it smelled amazing! I started with the fries because I am weird and have to finish all my fries before anything else. Anyway, it came with a cup of coarse grain mustard, some house made slaw and a couple of pickles as well. I put a healthy serving of the mustard and slaw on the top my first half and picked it up... this is where things kind went south. The bread is not toasted, I repeat the bread is not toasted. Now normally this wouldn't be a huge deal if it was like a hearty bread roll, but this was a delicious like whole wheat sourdough. Bread that's not toasted and hot deli meat do not mix well, the bread gets pretty soggy. And then when you add the slaw that makes it worse. But I digress, the bread was amazing tasting! The meat was great, and when mixed with the mustard and slaw makes a great sandwich. Almost like a mock rueben if you will minus the Russian. Overall it wasn't anything special, and I wish I would have known the bread wasn't toasted. I will definitely go back and try something else though! read more

I will be updating and reviewing more items, but my first order 2 go was disappointing despite washing it down with a glass of $14 house wine (Mission Hill Pinot Noir) at Lotus Whiskey/Tea Lounge upstairs. The $4 fries were okay, but the $13 Chinese Chicken salad dressing was too salty, so use it sparingly. My friend thought his $11 Southwest Taco Salad was underwhelming. We went with the healthiest items on their menu, but unfortunately we won't be trying them again. My friend had the $6 burger and said it was well put together! Soft bun, nice patty, nice sauce. He gave it a 5/5! This place has been open under 1 week so I imagine it will only get better! read more

We tried the Dine Out menu for lunch last week and the food was way better than we anticipated. In fact the chicken pakoras my friend ordered tasted better here than at a well known Indian restaurant I went to the next day! Deliciously crispy outside, juicy on the inside. The beer cheese soup was very smooth and the beer taste not too over powering, I dare say this tasted better than a famous restaurant in Prague that I tried which specialises in the dish. The salmon might not be the most mind blowing, I would say some more sauce flavouring would make it better. The caramel crunch cake was a bit too sweet for my taste. Service overall was excellent, very attentive and timely. The spilled water from the kettle got my napkins wet and the server quickly replaced them without me even saying a thing. This place is situated in the Vancouver Parq Casino. I was actually quit surprised at the quality of the pizza considering it's not a pizza place the pizza is better quality than half the pizza places in Vancouver. It's clean, trendy, upbeat and friendly service. A bit noisy but hey it's a casino so not the type of plCe for business meetings more social. Went last night for happy hour and was told it was not on friday and Saturday. Our mistake as we did not check but I thought I had been to it before on the weekend. Looked at the webpage for Parc and it clearly says daytime happy hour is on 7 days a week and evening Sunday to Thursday. Showed the person behind the bar and his answer was it was changed 5 months ago. No acknowledgement that it is their webpage or even suggestion that they would honour their own webpage. He took joy in turning the 4 of us away and away we went. Had a great night at Craft. Good beer and great food. Staff was also very polite. I guess I understand why it was empty at BC kitchen. Gave BC kitchen two stars because it was better when I went other times. I cant recommend a place that hires staff that enjoys messing with customers. Hit and miss at best. read more

Tried this place during Dine Out Vancouver 2018 and was not overly impressed. The hostess was very disorganized and rude, especially considering we had made a reservation and the restaurant was only about 25% full. Note that the restaurant is open to the casino floor, so don't expect a nice private dining experience. We tried multiple drinks from the "signature cocktail" list, and were underwhelmed. Our server did offer to have the drinks changed and adjusted to taste, so that was nice. Overall the drinks are not up to par on the Vancouver cocktail scene. The dine out menu was actually pretty tasty though! Mac & cheese, osso buco with risotto, and churros for dessert were all on point and very filling. Had a really great time here the place was dead at 6pm on Friday which was nice. We ordered the curry and got the chocolate cream pie for dessert. Came here on a Tuesday afternoon for Happy Hour from 2:30 to 5:30. Our server was nice, friendly and took our order within 10 minutes of us arriving at our table. We ordered the Calamari, Dirty Mac N' Cheese, Pigs in a blanket and I also tried the Classic Root Beer Float. Everything was good and came within a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress refilled our waters without us asking. She was friendly and on the ball. She also told us that the Happy Hour specials would be extending in the evening, starting at 9:30pm to 12 midnight for those who missed the Happy Hour in the afternoon. This was the start of our Dine Out and was looking forward to trying this new place. We should have chosen another night as there was a Canuck game. Parking was outrageous for $25 - nothing to compensate the diners. We asked the hostess about the parking. We were told to speak to the parking attendant. When we entered the parking lot there was no parking attendant. What choice did we have but to pay that amount. Why there isn't a lower amount for the people going to the various restaurants, I have no clue. Parking lot was not full! When we got back to the hostess, she seemed surprised that we were there and was even more surprised that we had reservations. The place was not busy, so I didn't see a problem even if we didn't have a reservation. Service was good .. at the start. Half of us had the Beer Cheese Soup which was delicious. The other half had the Chicken Pakora .. amazing!!! For the entree, most of us had the Pan Roasted Salmon. Again .. amazing! One person had the Market Mushroom Pizza and that was very, very good too! We were all pleased with the food so far. Now to the part that just went downhill. Two people were still eating their entree and lo and behold ALL the desserts came out!!! It's not as though the restaurant was busy ... because it wasn't. We definitely felt rushed from this point on. I asked for the desserts to come out when we are all finished the entree. So, I am not sure if they put the dessert under the heat lamp or what, because when they did come out when we were ready for it, the ice cream was very soft. Most of us had the Caramel Crunch Cake. I did not like it. It did not have any Caramel taste. The bottom of the cake was hard and the ice cream was too melted. The other dessert was a BCK Sundae .. absolutely nothing special about it. Would I recommend this place to other people? Maybe. To enjoy a great evening, the whole experience has to be good. The whole experience wasn't. Stopped by here Fri Aug 16 around 10pm for a drink and quick bite of food in a very tame stag. The place was empty and there was 10 of us. Food and drinks were good and prices reasonable. It took the waitress (Jenn) over an hour to figure out our bill... half of us order a burger and all of us ordered 2 rounds of the same drink. The bill overwhelmed her and she couldn't figure it out. None of us left our seats or did anything that would complicate things. In the end she charged me a 61% auto gratituity for one beer and said that it was due to " the machine". This place is a joke and they need to hire competent staff. If this is a representation of Parq, then this place is in trouble. While we were staying at the JW Marriot we went to the BC Kitchen two times. The food was good, loved the buffalo cauliflower. Great value at happy hour. But the best part about the place was the service. Chelsea, our server, was beyond awesome. She gave great suggestions and not once were we waiting for our glasses to be filled. She was very helpful pointing out great things to see and do while visiting Vancouver. So glad we went there and met Chelsea, great server who went above and beyond. BC Kitchen was a pleasant surprise! It was an extremely lively atmosphere and very reasonably priced. It is kind of tucked in the back of the casino floor and partially open to the casino which seems a bit strange when you first approach, but when you get seated, it feels completely separate from the casino. We were seated toward the back side of the restaurant so the casino didn't feel attached whatsoever. The only time I was reminded of it being attached to the casino was when we needed to use the washroom. The restaurant does not have its own washroom, it shares with one nearby on the casino floor. BC Kitchen was able to accommodate our larger group while allowing for individual orders and billing. Our server was very nice and she did a really good job at attending to our needs! For a casual style restaurant, I thought it was quite good and offered a decent variety. I ordered the short rib off the "mains" menu and it was cooked really well and the taste was delicious. For dessert, we ordered the berry spoon cake and the churros with dulce de leche dipping sauce. The spoon cake was a decent dessert, but the churros were definitely the highlight of the entire meal!! They come in 1 inch thick short wedges and they're extremely fluffy and soft - nothing like a tough, crunchy churro from most places. I would go back there just for how good the churros were!! This restaurant is a good place to grab a more casual bite pre game, concert, or casino games night! Overall the experience was solid and so was the food. read more

Be careful if you are Celiac The food was good and our waitress was fantastic. The place was clean and the vibe was good. Problem: we did called this restaurant and explained that one of our family members was Celiac. We noted it on the reservation and confirmed it when we arrived. The waitress was great but the kitchen made a mistake and missed her warning and my daughter was given a meal with gluten. The restaurant did apologize and they did remove the cost for my daughters meal but this is a very serious mistake. I don't need to go into Celiac disease here but this can not happen especially in Vancouver. The management was apologetic but that doesn't fix this serious mistake. So if you are Celiac you need to be extra careful at this restaurant. Most places take this seriously and the chef or manager brings the meal himself to your table to certify it has been prepared with proper precautions in place. Hopefully they learn from this and it doesn't happen to someone else. I give it a three because of this serious mistake. Overall if you had no health issues you could eat here and you would be fine. read more

A slightly healthier take on comfort food with some guilty pleasures. I was in the area meeting a friend from work and he suggested this place. I actually didn't read of the reviews before hand let alone heard of this place, therefore, went in completely blind with the trust of my friend. He is not a yelper or one to read reviews so he went in with any pre dispositions. I want to make a warning that this place is expensive. I am not sure if it is cause of the rent in the city (the area of downtown) or people thinking that they can get away charging what they do. I don't do any books for any eateries in the city, however, when my friend is making bulging eyes at the menu you know that this is something to consider. The food was okay. I had the Chinese chicken salad which was recommended to me. I asked for the dressing on the side. It came out without it being on the side. I was too tired and hungry to make a fuss, however, found the salad way too over dressed. I did ask for it to go to be polite, however, it sat in my fridge for a while. I should've said something but again I had a lot on my mind. With that said I cannot knock any points for something that I should've been a part of communication wise, that is not fair. When the BC Kitchen first opened the food was great and so was the service. Sometime within the year, the menu changed for the worse and we heard there was a change in ownership. We've been going once or twice weekly and the food quality and portions are never consistent. The following has happened on different orders/different days... South West Taco Salad(missing avocados twice/asked for dressing on the side and got dressing on the salad x3 times/Not enough chicken x2/Missing chicken x1/Wilted greens x2, etc). This salad use to be $11.00 and now $13.50. Discrepancies in portions, ie: Pork Dry Ribs, 10 pieces to 16 pieces (not because of the size of the ribs). On occasion with brown tipped celery sticks. There have been other issues, but won't bore you with it. Last week, I finally spoke to the manager, "J-----O" and he gave me several excuses and mainly about always having new staff and he would speak to the chef. We ended the conversation with him offering us a comp meal, next time we came in; as he said, "To make things right." We took up his offer last night and had the Steak Frites, which we've enjoyed before. What we got was one steak cut in half and definitely not Sirloin(it was tough, gristly and fatty) and a large container of fries. Steak Frites is priced at $28.95. fyi, during Happy Hour their cocktails are full of ice. J-----O, you've lost our business. Overall we had another really good experience at BC Kitchen. We came after a Canucks game on a busy Saturday, the place was busy and full of life. The bartender Mike was extremely friendly and funny and really enhanced our experience (as he did last time). His old fashions are on point! The back country pizza is fantastic! Nachos were big and good but there was a little mixup with the order. Kitchen's fault, not bar staff. We still ate them and the nachos were completely removed from the bill which was nice. I really look forward to going back and trying more of the menu, but will be tough not to get that pizza again. Last time had the burger and it was very very good. Menu has changed a bit since our last visit and the prices have dropped so positive changes have been made, including adding a bunch of tvs throughout the place making it a place I'd definitely go t watch the games! read more
