This was my first salon experience ever and I loved every moment of it. For the past twenty something years I have gone to someone's house to get my hair done. This was because I was familiar with the person and it was cost effective. Recently, that person has moved away and I had to find another way to do my hair. I heard through a friend I trusted about this salon and made an appointment. The person on the phone who I made the appointment with was warm and welcoming. I was excited for this new experience. I should also note that on the day I was getting my hair done I had a family function to attend. On this day, my aunt called me in a panic because her hair appointment was suddenly cancelled by her salon. I told her where I was going and when she called in to see if she can get a blow out, Be Inspired immediately fit her in. Needless to say, she was pleased with her experience as well. I went in for a single process and a trim. On the day of my appointment I walked in to a cute boutique salon and was greeted right away. I didn't have to wait long until one of the salon assistants escorted me to a chair. I was asked if I wanted a beverage. It was wonderful! My stylist was Gina. She made a point to ask me questions about what I wanted and made me feel very comfortable. After the whole process I felt like a whole new person. Not knowing what this would cost, I asked around and Be Inspired charged me what I was told to expect. I would say their prices are fair. Not sure why it says Brookhaven, but I live in Long Beach. This is the first time that I've ever written a review, but I'm hoping that no one ever has the horrible experience that I had at Be Inspired, after having been a regular customer of theirs. I went in for highlights a few days before a faamily event. After discussing with my hairdresser what I wanted done (this was not the first time I had highlights done here), I walked out with a root smudge up. Basically, she smuggled color on my roots and blended it in. My blonde highlighted hair was so dark!!! As she was blow drying my hair I told her that it looked too dark and she kept raving about how great it looked. After my hair was fully blown out I again said that this is not what we had discussed and that my hair was too dark and that I didn't like it. She said sorry and to book an appointment for another day. I expressed my disappointment while checking out and paying. I tried to book another appointment but was told that they were fully booked for the next week! In my opinion, this is not how a hair salon should be doing business with anyone, especially a regular customer. Needless to say, I will never be going to Be Inspired again and hope if anyone chooses to go here that they don't have an experience like this. I am happy that another salon made the effort to get me in to do my highlights so that I did not go to my family event with dark hair! read more

I'll start by saying that I'm very picky about my hair and I am forever in search of the perfect long layers with a bit of style. I know, the longer you go, the hard it is to have a lot of style yet I try and try to find a stylist that can achiever this goal. I came here last year on a whim and I must admit that after 15 years of getting my hair cut in Manhattan only, I was quite the salon snob. Be Inspired removed that snottiness right away! I came in desperately in need of a hair cut and walked out with EXACTLY what I wanted! Andrea has amazing talent and not only has she cut my hair perfectly 3x in a row, she has also inspired me to try something new. I have never met a stylist that made me want to experiment and change my hair - she does just that without even advising to do so! Once you see what she can do after a simple cut, you will want to to see what she can do with color or anything else. I decided to follow her on Instagram and now I just want to run back here and do something fun - I trust them that much! They really pay attention and care about the customers and the salon has that upscale trendy feel. The prices don't reflect the lux feel of this place and for that I am grateful. The talent has inspired me and every day when I do my hair I think of what a great cut I have. After a few months, the shape stays well and it's easy to keep styling. I went from having strawy, dry hair and she had recommended treatments, shampoos and conditioners to change that (I had many years experience with bleach). Andrea is thoughtful and very patient. She works with whatever you have and always has good advice to offer. Be Inspired as a business is very friendly and they do little things that make you feel at home. I was cut by Jenna on Memorial Day weekend, she gave me a really good haircut, she being a total pro. She asked me to be there at 12:45 and there she was waiting for me. Took the time to ask me questions and gave me a lot of useful information, for ex about keratin straightening for my curly/kinky hair for the heat and humidity around the corner. Very sincere and friendly woman, but oh so serious about her work. Her skill and confidence levels are top shelf. I definitely will go back to her - next time I won't wait so long! I'm visiting my family in NY for the summer and so I obviously needed to have my roots touched up desperately since the sun and summer in general has been bleaching my hair out a bit too much. I went to see Andrea today and she was fantastic. I gave her the color info from my hairdresser at home and she worked from there. She asked me what I was looking for and I just told her I wanted my hair to look natural and the cut to be very low maintenance. She definitely nailed the color and the cut is great as well. I have been here a few times with my mom to get our hair done by Sonia. I was always pleased with my hair cuts and blow drys until recently I tried out a new hairdresser that also works there, Annmarie. When I got in all the workers were really friendly and smiley. They even offered tea or coffee while you wait. Once I was ready for my cut Annmarie cut a little more than four inches which was requested, then blew dry my hair. I have pretty curly hair and after the blow out it was pin straight. Once I got home, excited about my new haircut, my mom immediately said it was really uneven. I was shocked, after inspecting it more she said its definitely not straight and told me to go to my aunt across the street to look at it. When my aunt looked at it she said it so many patches of hair were up and down and that I should go back. When I called the hair studio they told me it was uneven because I got layers, which I didnt lol. So they finally told me to come in, but I had to rush because I live 30min away and they were closing in a hour. When i got there I was really upset because the whole situation was really inconvenient. I did not get an apology from any of the workers (who I thought were really friendly) and sat there to get touched up by the same girl that messed it up in the first place. Great. When Annmarie and Sonia looked at my hair apparently it was straight, and once she picked up the scissors I said "why are you going to cut my hair if you said it was already even" and her response was "well it does have some uneven parts, this can be because you have curly hair and some parts are more tight than others and now that it is pin straight I see the unevenness" I am 21 years old and never have I ever heard a hair stylist say they cut my hair uneven because of the type of hair I have. I paid 60 bucks for this hair cut, you should know how to look at my hair once its done to make sure its straight and give an apology when you mess up instead of blaming me. I can't say enough good things about this place. I've been following the girl who does my hair everywhere and anywhere she goes because I trust her implicitly when it comes to my hair (By the way, her name is Trish if you want someone amazing to help you get your hair looking fabulous). With that being said, I've followed her to a few different hair salons over the years, and this place is one of my favorites so far. Aesthetically, it's a beautiful salon that encompasses so much of the community it's in. It has a beach vibe and the people are very mellow and down to earth. The color schemes in the salon are so relaxing to look at and they clearly put a lot of thought to the design of the place. The staff is always very welcoming when you walk in and always offer you a beverage while you wait which I think is very sweet. I normally would say that a high price compared to others would lower my review by a star, but when it comes to my hair, I'll pay whatever I have to and make sure it's healthy and looks great. This salon is indeed a little pricier than some of the others, but as the saying goes ...you get what you pay for and I pay for perfection ... so I would expect the prices to be higher when the bar is set that high. I of course will always follow Trish wherever she goes, but if she ever did leave this place, it would be a little sad to go since I've grown to really love this salon and the great staff behind it. read more

Very disappointed in their customer service. I made an appointment 2 weeks ago with Andrea to have a single process with 1/2 head highlights with a purple/blue ombre color. The quality of her work was very good, however, the highlights were only face framing and I was charged a whopping $225! The money was not the issue as I would have gladly paid the amount for what I asked for. I had also brought a picture to show exactly what I wanted my hair to look like.The very next day, I called back to see if the salon could add a few additional highlights so my hair would look closer to what I had originally asked for. Last night, I returned to the salon for an appointment to add a few more highlights and was appauled to be told that the owner left word that I would be charged a second time! This is no way for a salon to treat a customer that had laid out a lot of money and was not satisfied. read more

Came here for the first time about a month ago, had my hair cut by Andrea. She listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted, a low maintenance style with a few layers and angles that really give it body. Nice little salon, clean with cute decor. I have been going to Jenna now for over a year. It was hard for me to let someone else have control over my hair after years of doing my color and cut myself. But as I got older, by hair would either lift too high to a white blonde finish or a bronzy orange finish! So frustrating. Was given a gift certificate to this salon for my birthday, and it's been the best thing that's ever happened to me. Jenna worked with me to combat the natural bronze tones in my hair while giving me the blonde that I liked and restoring the body and volume that I haven't had for years. They are all so nice and treat me very kindly. I enjoy the atmosphere and the music and find it a pleasure to be there. I recently tried the Keritin straightening after my highlights and it was magical! Not having spring frizzy hair is such a time saver in the morning. Kudos to Jenna for suggesting this to me.
