This was because I was familiar with the person and it was cost effective. Recently, that person has moved away and I had to find another way to do my hair. I heard through a friend I trusted about this salon and made an appointment. The person on the phone who I made the appointment with was warm and welcoming. I was excited for this new experience. I should also note that on the day I was getting my hair done I had a family function to attend. On this day, my aunt called me in a panic because her hair appointment was suddenly cancelled by her salon. I told her where I was going and when she called in to see if she can get a blow out, Be Inspired immediately fit her in. Needless to say, she was pleased with her experience as well. I went in for a single process and a trim. On the day of my appointment I walked in to a cute boutique salon and was greeted right away. I didn't have to wait long until one of the salon assistants escorted me to a chair. I was asked if I wanted a beverage. It was wonderful! My stylist was Gina. She made a point to ask me questions about what I wanted and made me feel very comfortable. After the whole process I felt like a whole new person. Not knowing what this would cost, I asked around and Be Inspired charged me what I was told to expect. I would say their prices are fair. I scheduled an appointment online for a wash and blow-dry, with the advertised price clearly listed as $38. Upon arriving for my 12:00 PM appointment with my two young daughters, I greeted the two male employees at the front desk. Neither acknowledged my greeting. When I informed them that I had an appointment, one responded in an aggressive tone, asking "For what?!" I clarified that it was for a wash and blow-dry. He then demanded "How many?!" and when I said it was just one appointment, he loudly instructed me to "Go wash!" while pointing toward the back. As this was my first visit, I asked for clarification, and only then did a female employee approach me. The female staff member asked to see my hair, as I was wearing a head covering. My natural hair texture is soft, manageable, and would not take longer than thirty minutes to wash and blow-dry. However, upon viewing my hair, she immediately stated that the cost would be $100--more than double the advertised price. When I asked why my service would cost $100 when the posted rate was $38, she replied that "this type of hair" required that charge. At no point on the website or during booking was it indicated that pricing was "starting at" $38 or that texture-based surcharges applied. I refused the discriminatory upcharge and chose not to proceed with the service. I have attached both a copy of my booking confirmation and a photo of my hair for reference, to illustrate how unreasonable the $100 charge was. In addition to the blatant price discrimination, the staff were unprofessional, dismissive, and the premises smelled strongly of cigarette smoke--further reflecting the lack of professionalism. This conduct is unacceptable. It reflects racially discriminatory business practices and constitutes false advertising. I will be pursuing further action, including filing a civil complaint. This type of business has no place in Lynbrook or any community.

Panicked, my mom and I called all the local salons in great neck. When i tried Airbar Blow Dry Bar, I was lucky enough to get the owner Jessica, who immediately put me at ease. She could tell i was in a super stressful situation and told me that by the end of the day, she'd sort out my need for make up artists for my wedding. That very same evening Jessica got back to me with 2 incredible make up artists, Stephanie and Breiana, both of whom were willing to comply with the covid restrictions imposed by my wedding venue. The paperwork to reserve the artists was extremely reasonable and easy to follow. I was able to fill it out and pay my deposit the next day. In addition, Jessica reserved these artists for the entire morning so they were able to travel to the venue where i was getting ready. I can't say enough about the actual work these artists did. I have never felt more beautiful. I showed Stephanie and inspiration photo which she followed to a T. Stephanie and Breiana both did my bridesmaids as well who looked flawless. I last took my daughter to get her hair cut and permanently colored a bright red in Oct 2023. $380 later she ended up with: 1) A layer of her long thick hair was CUT BACK UNDERNEATH all the way to her scalp. (see photo attached with 11 months of growth) 2) The red dye lasted maybe 3 weeks, even while using the shampoos and conditioners for red hair. The man started counting my tips and made a nasty comment. I was very embarrassed. The manager listened near by and over. He was very nice. But the staff can be rude about tips very pushy sometimes and look at your tip then barely say thank you even if it is a high tip. I usually do 25 percent but they still seem Unappreciative.
