I had a long layover and a bit of a headache, so when I spotted a massage joint I made a beeline for it. It was close to their 9 pm closing time and they were busy but they fit me in for a 20-minute head massage along with chair massage and oxygen aromatherapy. The experience exceeded expectations. I had five hours in the Detroit airport so I figured I would treat my self to a manicure. Horrible idea. This was hands down the worst manicure I have ever received. It's been under 24 hours and the nail polish is already peeling off more than half of my nails in big chunks. The cuticles and nail bed were not fully cleaned and the polish was applied too thick. After the manicure I sat in the massage chair with my nails under the dryer for 30 minutes yet the polish on my thumb nail smudged within an hour of the service. Karen was wonderful! Such a relaxing experience in every way, and worth every penny. Flying is a hassle, people are stressed, and then you're squished into an airplane with less space between you and the seat in front of you than is humanly acceptable. Came in for a manicure, had to wait 45 min to be seen, received a rush job when I expressed concerns about missing my boarding and wasn't told about the $15 charge to remove my polish until I received the bill. This literally the worst manicure I've ever had. $67 for shellac that is now peeling less than a week after and a strong nail bed that was over filed and now cracking. Got a classic mani service that includes sugar scrub and the cuticle care on my hands. It is what it is. Spa service in the airport, so my expectation was low. You cannot expect this place to be superb 5 star quality spa where they take time on your hands and make sure the color turns out well. They were sweet and nice but the skills are not there yet. I shared the photo of my nails after the service - as you can see, cuticles are not perfectly taken care of or color was evenly applied. It's just average service that helps you kill the time while you are waiting for the next flight. It does not upset you, bc well you already know what you are signing up for, and you got what you needed. The cost of the classic mani service was $40.00. They ask you to pay between the cuticle care and the color application - so be aware to get ready with the payment. I just had an amazing massage by Ebony. Wow. I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated! I had back surgery recently and Ebony handled me with great care. Not only this, she worked through the tight knots in my shoulders without me having to point out where they were. I am so glad I spent the money on myself and this experience, even though I had to go sprint to my flight right after. The "menu" is flexible. The massage professionals will give you the massage you are looking for. I asked for a table massage with a focus on my shoulders and upper body, which was not specified on the "menu." So ask for what you want, and I'm sure they will accommodate within reason. I also had an amazing conversation with Ebony and learned a lot about her life. She also knows her stuff: we talked a lot about posture, alignment, and how lifestyle leads to all of our bodies being messed up! She also knew about my particular back condition. This evening i was with a long layover in the Detroit airport. I was lucky enough to be in the concourse with a Be Relax Spa. I gladly settled in for a 30 minute deep tissue neck and back massage. I am soooo glad I did. I have been having severe aches in my neck and back for a couple of weeks as such is the life of the road warrior. Christian was the amazing masseuse who thoroughly and intensely went to work on my aching muscles. I felt my body just relax as he worked. I am thankful that Christian is in the job that he is in - and Be Relax Spa is blessed to have such a professional, dedicated young man working for them. I've been to both Be Relax locations in the Detroit airport several times before - they do a 2.5-3/5 star manicure but it's quick. However, after today's customer service, I will not go again. (I am a frequent, frequent traveler with Detroit as my home base.) I landed today for a layover around 6:45pm. I stopped by and asked the wait for a chair massage. It was about 20-30 minutes, so I scheduled an appointment for 8pm so I could grab some food, then come back. I returned at 7:52pm indicating I had an 8pm appointment, pointing to the sheet where it was written down. The person at the desk, Karen, was very rude to me, cutting me off several times. She told me that she had two people in front of me that asked for 45 minute table massages so they could not accommodate me - she was very rude and treated me as if I were slow and could not understand how scheduling works and was acting as if I were the rude one expecting that I keep my appointment. She offered me 8:10pm; however, I scheduled my 8pm appointment exactly to align with the time my flight was boarding. I told her that it was not acceptable for them to move people in front of someone who scheduled an appointment and that if they do not have therapists available, they should not schedule an appointment and that this is fair feedback. She looked at me like I was crazy and just said OK and dismissed me. I am disappointed in today's service and do not want to attend an establishment that treats their customers this way. read more

This was the most amazing evening of services that I never imagined could be so professional at an airport spa. First, Lisamarie did a perfect French pedicure and I'm a picky customer. Then I asked for a deep tissue table massage since I worked over 60 hours this week, mostly on my feet, finishing up a project that opens Monday. My plane was delayed and I had 4 hours to burn, so I decided on a 30 minute massage. Alan was the massage therapist assigned. I will start by saying he was lazy and horrible! He asked me about pressure, I say medium amd then he asked about focus areas and I said my upper left has a little pinched nerve. Alan starts by very light pushes on the top of my shoulders. I thought it would pick up, but it never did. He did not actually "rub" or "massage" NOT one time. He literally would lightly push on one spot and hold it for 1 min and then move to another spot and hold for 1-2 minutes. One, I could barely feel it and 2, I wanted a massage NOT accupressure the whole time. It really came across as very lazy! I was peeking from under the chair and could see the other therapist really moving and working the muscles of their clients....soooo jealous! I am not recommending to not stop there, but I am recommending to not use Alan!! I stopped him after 20 minutes, paid and left. I honestly should not have paid. read more
