I took my boyfriend here for a couples massage to celebrate his birthday. I was drawn to the spa because of the Yelp reviews and from my perspective, it did not disappoint! However, my boyfriend and I had different opinions on the quality of the massage due to the different masseuses we had. My masseuse (Lily) was AMAZING! Her technique was better than any other massage I've ever had. She used all parts of her arms and hands to really get into my muscles and also cued me to inhale/exhale when appropriate, which helped to deepen the effectiveness of the massage. She focused on my problem areas perfectly, used the essential oil that I preferred, and left me feeling refreshed, renewed, and even a little bit taller! My boyfriend's masseuse, however, was not as awesome. He had to correct her level of pressure multiple times throughout the massage and said she didn't seem to be listening to his input. He felt that she was just breezing through a standard massage rather than tailoring her technique to suit his requests. I was disappointed that he didn't have as good of an experience as I did. I took off a star on his behalf but from my perspective only, this would've been a 5 star experience. One other thing to note on the couples massage - if you purchase the Yelp voucher, you can only use one voucher per couple's massage. I didn't realize this ahead of time and had purchased two vouchers, one for each of us. Not a huge deal as it gives me an excuse to come back to Be Well to use my remaining voucher since I loved the experience! read more

I went in for the 70 minute signature massage last night. It definitely cost a bit more than what I usually aim to spend on a massage (I'm an admitted cheapskate when it comes to taking care of myself), but I left feeling like it was definitely worth spending a little extra. I paid an extra $10, which covers dry sauna before (I got about 25-30 minutes in there and caught up on some old time out chicago's), and wet sauna after (only lasted about 5 minutes in here). Those were REALLY nice ways to relax before and re-adjust to life after. Marc was my massage therapist, and he was really wonderful. We talked for a bit before about what was bringing me in, and he made a number of connections between my symptoms that I was too exhausted and stressed out to notice. I felt like I was working with someone who really knew what they were doing, and understood how the body works (vs. some 20 year old who just got out of massage therapy school....not that I'm knocking them, just saying...). So although this was a little out of my price range, it was definitely worth it. I slept like a baby last night and have not been clenching my jaw/grinding my teeth like a psycho today. Which is a really really nice change. I plan on paying them another visit in the future. You can tell Rico takes alot of pride in his business. read more

Amazing Service! First I was able to make an appointment during non-regular business hours (on a Sunday). The staff was very friendly and had great skills. My boyfriend and I had a 90 min couples massage. It felt like we were at a private spa. We were able to take our time during our appointment. Had a couples massage here with my fiance- his first experience. We spent several minutes in the sauna then into a nice room with side-by-side tables. We were both asked our pressure preferences and they checked in with us regularly about how it was going. Overall, it was a good massage for me. We then were given ample time to shower in private bathrooms which were nice and stocked with hair and body washes. Overall, it was a good experience and I would definitely go back. The inside is a bit small but that also gives it a cozy feeling. The pricing is pretty standard although we got a pretty good deal with a Groupon package we used. read more

Had a Relaxation Massage yesterday.............fabulous!! I'm thinking this is an easy holiday gift to give- and who wouldn't want it??!!

My experience at Be Well. was great! I began my 3 hour spa journey with the good fortune of finding the best parking space right in front. Upon entering, I found the space to be relaxing and aesthetically pleasing. I started with an initial 15 minutes in the dry sauna. The massage therapist asked if I wanted to stay in longer and offered to turn up the sauna's temperature. Off I went for a hotter, longer 15 minutes in the dry sauna. Then, I was led to the massage room for the 90 minute Acupressure Massage. My massage therapist was wonderful! After some initial discussion about my purpose and goals for my visit, he tailored his approach just for me. He explained in appropriate detail what he'll be doing and how it will help. The massage was both gentle and firm in all the right spots. It was both invigorating and amazingly relaxing at all the right times. Throughout the massage, he was engaging, conversing in light and casual discussion without being intrusive or distracting. At the end, I felt completely relaxed and rejuvenated. Lastly, I was led to the steam & rain shower, where the hot steam was ready and awaiting my arrival. Also, waiting for me was hot tea and a snack. I was informed to take as much time as I liked. I started by sitting in the hot steam for as long as I could stand it. Then, I switched several times between a cold rain shower and the hot steam. What a way to finish a great spa experience! At the end, I had the opportunity to briefly connect with Rico Tallud (co-owner) in a great conversation. I found him to be inspirational, professional, courteous, humble, and thoughtful. He asked several times for any and all constructive feedback and criticism. Be Well. is a small, quaint, beautiful spa space that gets it right! I was experiencing pain and tightness in my shoulders and neck and decided to try out Be Well because it was recommended by a friend. So I scheduled an appointment for the Meridian Muscular Massage. My therapist was awesome! After the massage, I felt relieved and renewed! I also came in a little early so I was abe to use their dry sauna. I thought that was a nice touch. A friend and I researched massage facilties and day salons and came across Be Well. We were both really tired and needed a massage badly so we called to make an appointment. The lady who answered was very nice and told us that the therapists would be able to consult the best massage to get to customize our treatment. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and escorted to a sauna where I was offered water. My friend arrived a little later and we sat inside the warm sauna for about 15 minutes. Afterwards, two therapists arrived and asked us to choose a therapist. I chose the male and my friend the female therapist. Male therapist had a really thick accent and I could not understand a word. My friend and I both agree that our experience with the massages were the worst we have ever had. We have been to many different therapists and do not recommend Be Well if you are needing a massage. The spa and shower facilities are very clean but does not deserve more than two stars. It seemed like it was trying to hard to make it "ASIAN" with shoji screens and asian furniture with a touch of ikea, but I truly suggest in investing in better therapists. Before I left, I asked the receptionist, "are the therapists new here?" and she stated no. She stated they have been there for a long time. I'm sorry, but they were absolutely horrible. read more

My husband and I booked a couples massage here with some Christmas money. We went the day before I went back to work after maternity leave. It was great! the lobby is a little drab, but we loved the cozy sauna and the steam showers after the massage. My masseuse was particularly great and I felt very refreshed after the whole experience. I love every visit to Be Well! Since my first review, I have held true to my word and never left without scheduling a monthly follow-up. Yana, Chisato, Mark, and the other massage therapists are all great and amazing at what they do. I have been coming to Be Well for the past year and half and this place always works out the kinks in my shoulders, neck and back! It can be a little uncomfortable at times when they are digging in but I will take the pain knowing how I feel like a new women when I leave here. Completely revitalized! Zoe (my personal favorite) and Shazaku are the best! The only two therapists I will go to. Worth every penny... I will never settle for another "groupon" deal.... Always disappointing. Be Well was incredible! My boyfriend and I were flying into Chicago for a wedding so I decided to Yelp couples' massages in the city that we could partake in as part of our vacation weekend. They were incredibly helpful - really pleasant to speak with on the phone and just overall great to work with. The massage itself was amazing. We had literally just gotten off the plane so all those little airplane kinks and soreness was just melted away. I can't say enough good things about the massage. What can I say? Be Well was a total treat! From the second you arrive everyone is nice and courteous as can be. I went for a couples massage and the whole experience was awesome. First they take you in a changing room where you get into your robe and flip flops. From there you get to spend 20 minutes in a small sauna with tea, champagne, and water. Once they're ready you go you move into their massage room. My girlfriend and I were both raving about our masseuse. I wanted extra attention on my lower back as this is a problem area and my masseuse packed a punch despite being so small. Once we were finished we got to take a shower in a steam shower. They provide premium bath products and after I got out I felt like a million bucks. They're definitely a little on the pricier end but it's definitely worth it for the sauna session and post massage shower. 5/5. Simply great. read more

I thought the couples massage was up to standards. When my husband and I arrived we were offered really good green tea. Then we had about 10 minutes in the hot sauna and I wondered if it counted for the 60 minute massage... but we still had a full 60 minute massage. I wish it could have been more "couple-y". We were in the same room during our massage but separated by a partition... so we couldn't see each other and we weren't really "together". But the massage felt great. The steam shower after the massage was wonderful too. Overall it seemed like a steep price for $200 but we enjoyed it and it felt like a fun special occasion as a couple. read more

I booked a couples massage for my wife and I. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, we both felt relaxed and happy. They start you of with a sauna, before giving you your massage. The lady giving me a massage was good and listened when I asked her to make a change. My wife loved her massage. After the massage, you get a steam shower. I've never been in a steam shower before, but man, I would love to have one every day now. It is a great way to end your time there. Even after you leave, that "things are really good" feeling and the relaxed feeling stays with you for the rest of the day. My one minor drawback is that the changing area is pretty small and feels cramped. But because the rest of the experience is so good, it hardly bothers me and in not a big deal. What a great spa experience! My boyfriend took us here for a couples massage and every part of the service was relaxing. They tell you to arrive about 15 min early so you can use their dry sauna before your massage, so make sure you take advantage of that. Then your therapist will discuss what you'd like to focus on during your massage. After an incredible hour long massage you'll take a steam shower that's so nice you won't want to get out. Go to be well! I have been suffering from a great deal of back pain and knew I needed to get a massage, but also knew I needed to be able to pay my rent, so I looked up some affordable options. I took the advice of my fellow yelpers and gave this spot a chance. I have never had a better massage experience. First of all, I have an anxiety disorder so I show up an hour early for everything. I expect to wait in a waiting room and read magazines until my appointment, but apparently be well is like the stepford wife of massage parlors and the extremely kind owner gave me a robe and slippers and led me to a private room with a sauna, tea, cookies, and water and told me to help myself and relax till the therapist could see me. An hour there and they could have charged me and sent me on my way without even getting the massage and I would have been happy. The therapist came to my room and introduced himself and led me to my table. He was so sweet and made me feel right at ease. He asked me some questions regarding my pain and proceeded with the massage. He managed to find spots that were causing me pain that I didn't even realize. He even gave me an extra ten minutes! I felt, and still feel(3 days later), so much better. The owner was ringing me up and chatting with me and asking how everything went, and even asked if I had any constructive criticism, and to my surprise, I didn't. He was incredibly kind and genuine and we ended up having a bit of a heart to heart conversation, (very unexpected), and I left feeling like I visited a friend. I will be back, hopefully soon, and I strongly encourage everyone to go. These places are far too rare to take for granted. read more

Needed a massage bad. It had been far too long since my last massage and the daily grind of sitting in front of a computer coupled with getting older wasn't helping matters. My lower back was killing me and I wanted to go somewhere in the neighborhood. Found Be Well and made the call. That was by far the best massage that I have ever gotten! Period. The massage therapist asked what my needs and concerns were and after our conversation was through she had me on my way back to normal. Through the whole process she asked if I were comfortable with the pressure applied and just asked how I was feeling and doing. Her lithe and nimble hands were capable of far more pressure than I would have expected her small frame to exert, none-the-less, she kneaded and pressed all stress and ache away. Many thanks to Be Well and I will be visiting this place again and recommending them to all who need this service. The 70 minute Be Well Signature Massage is worth every penny and every minute.
