I wish I could choose zero stars. This was unfortunately a very poor experience with terrible customer service. I visited The Now on my birthday for my first ever massage, which came as a gift. I arrived on time, but my massage was started late and then shortened by 15 minutes without anyone letting me know ahead of time. The service was booked as a 25 minute massage, with an added scalp massage as well. It ended up being about 10 minutes total for $100. My partner who booked the massage initially called to check in on the error, and was met with hostility and was told there was video surveillance of me arriving late and also a video of me being told the service was shortened. This is not true, and we obviously would not have called The Now for explanation if that had been the case. I work in customer service and was baffled by The Now's response and failure to take accountability. I later called to speak to management directly and was told a manager would call me back same day. I was never contacted again, and it has been over a week. Lincoln Square is full of so many amazing and independently owned businesses, and The Now has decreased the warmth of this lovely neighborhood with their corporate dishonesty. We have let our friends and neighbors know that this is the case with The Now, and will be pursuing privately owned massage businesses from here on out. read more

If you ever want to stop going there and cancel, be prepared for extremely terrible customer service and rude employees. I want them to know it's me. The person that has tried to get ahold of a manager since 8/19. Edit: In response to them saying they're sorry it was not a match (completely hollow). I called three times over 8 or so days to try and get a hold of a manager to ask about cancelling. After a week of blowing me off I called back and they said sorry and would have a manager call back again. Never happened. Not even when it got bad and escalated. The manager either never works or is just extremely bad at their job. The employees that work there also seem to be extremely bad at their job as no one could get anything done at any level, as well as being rude. They make it so if you want to cancel you have no other choice but to pay them for another month after the cancellation. Basically have to give them two months notice. Super shady. If this place is around a while I will be shocked. I hope people see this and look for other options! read more

My husband booked 80-minute massages for both of us, and we were very disappointed to be put in separate rooms rather than serviced together. 80 minutes is a long time, and there are no robes or slippers, so if you need to pee you have to put all your clothes back on and go to the extremely basic bathroom at the end of the hall. No music, just ocean sounds. As far as the massage itself, eh, I've certainly had more vigorous ones, and didn't feel very relaxed when I left. My hands and feet still felt very dry. When you come out of your dark, quiet, massage, cubicle and into the blinding light of the front desk area, they apologize for the shift in lighting, but it doesn't seem to have occurred to them to do anything like put up a curtain. read more

When I was paying and she asked if I was going to give a tip I said yes. I told her can you add 5 dollars for tip. She wanted more because I didn't go there for a long time and she wanted more. So I gave her 5 dollars more. So I did. My finances are not that good. But my body needed some type of relieve I was so exhausted. But to make me give more money for tip which I already paid 68 dollars for a massage. There is times where I can't give much and to make me feel like I should give more is insane to me. First & last visit. My therapist was 30 min late to the session. No communication about this until about 15 min after the scheduled appt time. While I appreciate the discount that was applied to my service, I should've just asked for a full refund. The massage felt disjointed, like the therapist was not properly prepared to conduct the service due to the anxiety of being late. Also, they seemed rather inexperienced. I get that life happens & sometimes, we don't have control over our time. Perhaps I would've felt different if I'd already had a relationship with NOW but as it was my first visit, it really put me off. Fantastic experience. Reception checked me in and I was in the lobby for a couple of mins with two other people. Beyond the lobby is a transition room to introduce yourself to your masseuse. While not "public," people are coming and going and even using the space with you. Once you enter, the space is very calming and has ocean waves playing in the space. I am usually a high end spa girly. My clients turned me on to The Now as an option for when you need a massage but don't have an entire day or a day spa budget. The vibes are transportive. I feel like I'm in a beach cabana getting a massage on a toasty table. They do a great job at maintaining noise levels. Pristine bathroom. The host at the front is always so amazing. She remembers my name, cracks a joke with me, and is just always spot on with her roll as front of house. Now... Melisa.... Melisa has THE hands. You know you're being touched by a hella pro the second they start adjusting you for comfort. She gave me bolsters for my large chest. I also knew I was in very good hands by the way she chose to keep my hair out of my face with a strategically wrapped towel. She makes their flat bed feel like the one at the Peninsula that curves to your lady curves. I was able to fully relax because I knew if she took time to ensure this part was 10/10 -- the rest was going to be amazing. Every movement Melisa makes is intentional, and you can tell she really knows her craft. She makes sure to not break contact. I could feel her breathing to keep her energy where it needed to be as well as she dug deep into the pits of my soul. I teared up at times, I swear we were releasing childhood trauma or something out of my muscles lmao. It was like silent therapy. I am a hairstylist of 20 years. I'm tense af. She did a great job at working with what she could because of me being so dang tense. There are massage therapists, and then there are massage artists. Melisa is an artist with what she does. You can feel with every movement and pressure point, she wants you to heal. I didn't feel like "oh she's just my 5pm client" she made me truly feel like she legit wanted to help heal me. She gave me good advice for my next massage and I am rebooked for 2 weeks from now. This was my 3rd visit to the now. Melisa is my favorite thus far. I live the ambiance at The NOW. It's so calming to be there and the warm weighted blankets are the best. Terry is a great massage therapist. He is really able to find where your muscles are holding tension and uses a variety of techniques to work out the knots.
