First time doing a spray tan, and I have to tell you that it was amazing. The whole experience here was great! Jessica tended to me and explained everything super thoroughly! She was patient, sweet, funny and didn't make it awkward at all for me. She did an amazing job! I went from ghostly to a super nice brown color. Not orange at all like I was afraid of. Went in on Saturday and worked with the sweetest girl (maybe Brittany?) who went through all the information with me and I ended up buying a Platinum BOGO and she let me know about a promotion they have about $6 tanning on Sundays. She was really great. I came in today, looking to do the $6 Sunday deal and save my other tan for Monday before my trip. The lady at the front desk was so stank, told me no, that I couldn't get that, that the girl was wrong and I don't qualify for it. Period point blank. Idk how I would make up or lie about being told that? But it definitely is not MY fault that I was informed incorrectly by YOUR staff. I'm the customer that is giving my money and I drove all the way over there on a Sunday to be turned away. I didn't even bother using my tanning session that girl was just awful I wanted to leave. I just moved to this area and will be looking for a different tanning place now. So disappointing. read more

They didn't give me eyes protection. They didn't tell me I should cover my birthmarks and nipples. So unprofessional. When I was inside of tanning bed, my eyes filled very uncomfortable, I tried cover them by my hands, but it didn't work. I still feel little burning in my eyes. I hope the light didn't damage my retina. They have some promotions on their site for a first time visitors, but stuff didn't offer me any. They don't accept cash for a ridiculous reason. I called in because I had some questions about the UV light and the tanning sessions because I wasn't familiar with it. And the way I was talked to was as if I should've known this stuff when I'm calling to ask for information. Asked if the sessions are 45 minutes or 30 minutes she laughed at me and said absolutely not. They're just 10 minutes. Well it's my first time doing a tanning, so I don't think that was an unreasonable question. The person I spoke to Was basically unhelpful. And just gave me one word answers did not clarify anything so I decided to go with somewhere else where somebody is more friendly, answering the phone and is helpful with a 1st timer. So will never try that location. Or any other locations for Just poor arrogant customer service. read more

The staff here is very helpful and kind. I really like going in there and they honestly are quick to remediate any issues you may have and/or answer all questions. The manager, Tony, has been super great since I switched to this location.Very cool and courteous. I have a beach pass and can tan in any bed. I love the diamond and titanium levels. You cannot beat the price. This place is also very clean. I am getting surgery coming up and was able to freeze my membership until I can tan again. I highly recommend this location. read more

I'm in town visiting from Texas and opted for the "Shower in an Hour" airbrush spray tan. While the staff was super helpful and the girl who did my spray was VERY thorough and went over my whole body twice and advised me to wait longer than the hour, but no longer than 4 hours before washing off (I waited 3) there is zero color on my skin! I am a frequent airbrusher, so I did my whole drill of exfoliation, no moisturizer beforehand, etc., so the only thing I can attribute it to is the tan solution, which I was told is by Norvell (sp?). Keep your money on this one people...color is literally non-existent and there is a $10 upcharge for the Shower in an Hour tan. Wish I went the regular route, as this result was SO not worth the effort. Update: Jennifer reached out to me immediately following up on this review. We determined that perhaps this particular tanning solution simply didn't work for my skin. Jennifer offered to refund me the cost, since I had no other option being from out of town, I didn't have time to respray. Excellent customer service is hard to find these days, and Beach Bum Edgewater has that and more in each phase of their operation. Changing my review from a 1 star to a 4 star as a result, and only taking off 1 star for the solution that just didn't work for me. read more

I've been going here for a while and never felt the need to review - it's consistently pleasant and clean but that should be expected from a business. Recently the night manager/front desk associate has left enough of a positive impact that I feel compelled to write a review. I believe name is Justin but would feel horrible if I was wrong.He's been extremely helpful and informative helping me pick the right bed and lotion. If I could give negative stars I would .... and I have never said that before. I left this place full of anger (and not a good kind ... the I will not stop till this is over kind), the kind that warrants a well thought out yelp review along with many letters and emails to assure that everyone knows how you feel .... but I digress. What is it you asked that can boil my blood, a fairly mellow blood at that, well I will tell you. I went in 2 months ago to get a mystic tan. Sadly my Irish skin does not warrant tanning. I purchased 3 mystic tans for $59 dollars. I thought not bad I can go three times and its only $20 each. I asked the guy "so I just come back when I am ready for another one and it is in the computer?" Response: "Yep". End scene. Enter in today (approx 2 months later) and I am told I don't have any tans left. The lady at the counter proceeds to tell me that I did have 2 that I didn't use but they expired after a month. A month? Regardless of the fact that anyone who gets 3 mystic tans a month is crazy, that kind of information might have been necessary to tell me ....umm .... I don't know .... when I bought it. I ask to speak to the manager ... "Sorry she is not in today, but I can leave her a note" .... a note? Gee thanks but I am not sure that can convey properly how I feel. This is nothing but a scam. Its worse then the Nigerian emails. At least with those you know when you are being screwed with. I told the incredibly unhelpful attendant that I was leaving and NEVER coming back .... I suggest the rest of you take my lead. Then again someone has to answer those Nigerian emails. read more

Overall terrible experience here. The girl working last night was rude and dishonest.She kept changing the prices on me or wouldn't give me an exact price at all. She kept trying to get me to commit to the 3 month plan, but I'm not trying to get super tan I just would like a base tan so I'm not as winter pale as I am now. She was annoyed when I told her I'd think about it. Then she tried telling me that I had to buy a lotion packet as well in order to use the coupon deal that was sent to my home, even though it didn't say that on the flyer because she was trying to get me to spend more money. She also told me that because of my skin type I would have to use the diamond or titanium bed because anything less and I wouldn't tan, which I know is not true. I'll be going to tantaztic in Hoboken from now on. They never make me feel like they're lying to me or that I'm not spending enough money to even be there. read more

I've probably been to 5 or 6 different locations, and this is my favorite one by far. I love the quietness, cleanliness and friendly staff. I've been here over 20 times and only once was the bed I wanted to use occupied, which happens a lot at other locations. If you are using a sun bed, I strongly recommend using the KBL which is one of the Diamond level beds. The only thing I don't love about beachbum is that they charge extra for dark shade when getting a spray tan, but besides that it's really great. :) read more

Little do you know, the front desk never signed the freeze membership , which i had to fill out, and scammed me into monthly payments. I have been going to tanning salons for the last 20 years I have never went to a tanning salon like this one this tanning salon is so clean got all the high-end beds and the service is impeccable Tony who runs the salon does an incredible job his customer service and speaking manner is awesome I've been coming here now for 2 years I would never go anywhere else I had a spray tan on Friday by a wonderful girl named cat she did the best job that I have ever had and it was such a pleasure talking with her during the process really don't write reviews but I had to do this the place definitely deserves it again if you decide to go here ask for Tony he's the best. read more

They did a great job on the airbrush tan, the 4 stars is only for the tan. The color was perfect, not too dark or light, I waited 7 hours per their instructions, and avoided any body wash with sulfate or paraben (used Cetaphil which seemed to work well). The tan lasted 4 days, by the 5th day it started to fade but the event was well over by then. Was pretty obvious the employees did not want to be at work, lots of chatter on how much they don't want to be busy and were annoyed that I showed up early, I'm right there and can hear you. When I asked for small change for a bill they said "What for?", it should be obvious that it's for giving a tip. Seems to be the overall culture of the place, from the minute I arrived. Helloooo I'm a regular I get my eyelashes done here. I come every month I get an occasional tan, not a big fan!!! The eyelashes extensions are done good here. The only concern I have is the manager !!! I can't believe the nasty attitude she has , she is rude , not polite. Horrible place to tan!!!! Don't waste your money here!! It's my first time to tan and I was never not given instructions or warning that if you lay a certain way that some parts of your body may not be covered by the light, they call it "pressure points". I came out with a huge part of my body totally different shade from the rest!! When I came back to see if they could have it fixed for me, they told me I have to pay for an extra session. Why would I have to if they have done a good job in the first place? The manager didn't seem to care either and was laughing at my situation. Horrible horrible customer service!! I've been coming to this place for a while and never had any problems, they been nice and friendly, so I pull up to the place and trying to park in the front all of the sudden some lady is giving attitude about parking and she is standing cursing because she thinks I am about to hit her car, and by the way I was pretty far away, and come on I am not that dumb to hit her car and ruin mine. This place is really nice. It has lots of tanning options and the facility is cool but my experience wasn't that great. The girl was superficially nice, she greeted me and took me to the room but that's it. She really didn't explain the tanning process or offered me any add ons, was singing while "taking care" of me and the music was loud as hell, club loud. I came here for my first ever spray tan before my bridal shower. I wanted to see if I liked the way it looked before I committed to my wedding. I Loved it! I was so nervous but Jill was great and walked me through the whole process. She made me feel totally comfortable and the tan was even and gorgeous! I been tanning off and on for the last ten years and through out this time I have been to many tanning salons. I seen it all from the good, the bad, and the expensive. Beach bum by far is my favorite! Its inexpensive in comparison to other salons I have gone to; yet it has a very upscale feel. I never have to wait for a machine which is always a plus. My one complaint would be the location there always seems to be traffic on river road which can be a down side, but, besides that 5 stars all the way! read more

I've been going to this salon for over a year, and it was ok. Recently, there has been a change in management. Tony, the new manager, has really upped my opinion of the place. He is super helpful and friendly, competent, and even addresses me by name when I come in. I can also recommend one massage therapist at Renu, the spa affiliated with this place. I recently joined Beach Bum Tanning in Edgewater and i must say that it was an excellent experience. The Manager Tony was extremely knowledgable on his product. The facility was emmaculately clean and state of the art. All of the equipment was top of the line and the Customer service was Top notch. Came in on a Tuesday night and chose a single session for the platinum tanning bed in order to get a nice base tan before my island vacation. The short young girl at the counter never bothered to even ask me how long I wanted the session to be. I told her this was my first time tanning in years and didn't want to risk being in the booth too long and burning. I then specifically asked the girl for an 8 minute session. But for some reason she went ahead and put me down for 10 minutes and said there was no way she can change it after the session was already setup. She suggested I time it myself and get out after 8 minutes. I asked if the standing platinum bed had a timer inside and she replied that it did. After getting into the booth I noticed there in fact wasn't a timer that I could read inside the booth while tanning. I ended up getting burned all over. She basically lied to me twice as there was no timer and there had to have been a way to adjust the time of the session after it has been setup. She could've even just cancelled the session and redid it but she was too lazy to do that and instead just disregarded my request. I have been to other BB locations and dealt with much more accommodating staff members. Will not be coming back. read more
