Kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff. My teenage daughter is taking the scuba certification class and all instructors have treated her with respect and made sure she understood and was comfortable with each skill. I was very nervous to let my daughter go out in the ocean on a dive, but I trust these instructors and I know she is safe. I've had nothing but a great experience with BCS! A friend of mine recommended that I talk to Andrew about my PADI certification. I had started with a San Diego dive shop that I really couldn't recommend and had only one exercise to get my open water certification. Unfortunately, it was over a year so I started all over with BCS. Andrew knew I was a little apprehensive so suggested I take a private class and hooked me up with the most patient teacher ever. Thanks Brent! So, I am officially certified and on my way to getting more comfortable with my dives. Every dive gets better, BCC can book the boat from their shop - which makes it really convenient. I tried shore diving but for a beginner, it was too much for me so I am taking advantage of the boat dives. I went in last weekend to pay and I the folks in the store were very friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't go anywhere else! If you want to try the sport (which I highly recommend) - go with BCS. They really know what they're doing. Andrew rocks! They also do group dive trips which I am planning to do soon! read more

Bad customer service. Rented snorkel stuff. Returned it early, they didn't ask why because I am sure they knew the conditions were not indicative to snorkeling. Wasted $65 to be told by a lifeguard that "nobody's snorkeling today." Would have considered going back another day had they cared enough to inquire. read more

I'm a big fan! I just finished my certification through Beach Cities and had a great experience. The instructors were fantastic and made it fun! I've had friends go through other agencies and feel out of the loop... but not here! As soon as I showed up people helped me figure out where to be and what to do. Robb Evans was my instructor for pool dives, and made it a lot of fun..especially for being in the pool for about 6 hours. Over all totally worth it! GO!! read more

I have become a regular at this shop. It has convenient hours and the staff has been nothing but helpful whether helping me compare gear or look into additional training. Anytime I come in with a piece of gear that needs servicing, it is done quickly and at a decent price. I have also gotten dive condition reports form the staff and help getting on boat dives. I love my 'local' dive shop - BCS. Started here 3-4 years ago with my Open Water cert, now, with advanced cert, 6 specialties(soon 7 + rescue), & nearly 70 dives about to go for Divemaster & perhaps more. Instructors are knowledgable & friendly as well as good teachers. I like the connection with the only Dana Point charter dive boat. Great crew. Yes Andrew will sell you stuff but I've never been disappointed (except for computer that he told me I might not like that I bought anyway). They also have great trips lead by the owner. read more

My journey into learning to scuba dive all started with buying a PADI Open Water Certification Living Social deal offered through Beach Cities Scuba. I would like to highly recommend this PADI Course & the Beach Cities Scuba team. From the very first impression made by Chob at their Huntington Beach Store who set me up with the initial equipment & learning materials I knew that I was in good hands. Chob did a great job of reminding to come prepared to class by completing the pre-study homework, helped me find the right basic equipment & set me up with great dive instructors. Being a bit of an information nerd just before class started I stopped by the Dana Point store to get a sneak preview of the additional equipment needed. Andrew did a wonderful job of walking me through all of the equipment, the differences in each type of equipment & prioritizing in what order to buy each item. As those who already dive know the cost of dive gear truly adds up. However if you are truly committed to this sport then I do recommend buying at least your BCD before class starts because it is a lot easier to learn on your own equipment. Both Andrew & Chob are truly knowledge experts on dive equipment. I would like to also thank Brian, Jeb & Shane for their extra efforts during my pool & open water dives. Each of these instructors brings so much talent, professionalism & patience to the PADI Scuba Instructor Team. They were great in teaching the needed skills plus they do a good job of building confidence/ comfort levels while in the water. If you are thinking about learning to scuba dive definitely enlist the help of the Beach Cities Scuba Team since they are a great resource with lots of experience to answer your scuba diving questions! read more

I finally saved up enough to buy an Atomic Aquatics Red computer, new BC, new regulators & new wet suit. No one in San Diego had the special edition red, so I found out that Beach Cities Scuba Center had 2 in stock. I drove up there and Andrew helped me. He was extremely knowledgeable about all of the gear and the prices were incredible. I wound up buying many more items, because of their pricing and service. Your comments 3 months after the event are laughable at best. No one ever claimed my daughter was burned at your store; what a ridiculous statement. Your assertion that refunding money in California is illegal is equally ridiculous. You can choose to refund money however you want , you just choose not to want to. I also told Andrew that if he wanted to refund the money to my credit card minus whatever credit card fees you incurred that would be fine. In addition I called your facility multiple times leaving messages for you to call back and I am still waiting 3 months later. Now you want me to call you? Finally your spokes person Rika, could have not been more rude, less understanding and difficult to understand. As I said previously Andrew, your employee, told me that refunding the money would not be a problem, but then suddenly he was not allowed to speak to me. Lastly, I sold the gift certificates at a significant discount to someone who could use them, so this becomes somewhat moot. Had you shown any human compassion or ever asked " How is your daughter doing?" it would show that you are a caring member of the community. However you did not. All you cared about was the $180 dollar gift certificate. Does your store have a shred of human dignity? Hopefully the lack of compassion you demonstrated will show the local community what you are really about. Was $180 really worth the bad publicity that this generates. You also have no integrity by posting a reply with the name web master for the store . Who are you? Do you have a name? I will continue to let everyone I know in the local diving world what kind of horrible business you run and recommend that they avoid Beach Cities Scuba like the plague. Buyer be ware. We were new to the south Orange county in August of 2013 and went into Beach Cities Scuba Center to enroll our 13 year old daughter in scuba lessons. We couldn't have picked a better shop to visit! Andrew, the manager of the shop, was incredibly helpful in getting her set up with the gear she would need as well as the coursework for her first certification. He was also her instructor for the in-class portion of her training. Andrew is a very personable young man who obviously enjoys what he does and wants to share his love of scuba with others. Since that first class our daughter is now pursuing a master scuba diver certificate. Along the way our daughter has met and worked with so many wonderful, professional and dedicated scuba enthusiasts from Beach City Scuba's many dive instructors to Captain Derek and Divemaster Bob on the Riviera boat from which they dive. These fantastic people have made her experience that much more enjoyable, especially important to us since our daughter was so young when she began this new experience. As our daughter accumulated equipment, Andrew made us aware of specials available for certain products which helped us save money too, all of which had top ratings from scuba reviews and were well priced compared to other shops. read more

This is a great dive shop. These are some of the most knowledgeable people on diving in Southern California and I recommend coming here if you want to get into diving. They have great classes. I got my open water here a few years ago and have been diving with them since then. I'm now getting my advanced. Their training is very good and they are also super helpful if you just want to get advice diving in town. I call them to see how the water is if I want to go diving that day and they always give me the rundown. They also have great equipment and always seem to have anything I need. There are a lot of reviews that say it's hard to schedule classes with them but I got my open water via groupon deal and I've had no problem scheduling classes over the last few years. Sometimes I can't schedule a week in advance and I have to wait two or three weeks but that's just a normal part of business. There are also reviews saying BCS upsells you. Scuba is an expensive sport. You're going to have to buy some gear in order to be able to do the classes and it won't be free. Also you can pay extra to do boat dives for your certification but you don't have to if you don't want to. Also, BCS has really good gear and they give you great deals especially if you buy package deals. I've bought package deals from them and I was very pleased. All around thumbs up for this dive shop. read more
