    The beach. 2 min walk from the room

    Stayed here for three days. They let us check in before 4( check in time) It's one bed room ( queen size bed) one full bathroom. And a pull out couch. Mini fridge and stove. My room had one pot and a toaster, knife plastic plates and bowels. Coffee. The things I didn't like is they don't have room service unless you stay certain amount of time ( think 6 days). With being 2 min walk to the beach. Sand gets all over. And no you don't have broom to sweep the floor yourself. Our toilets where not bulted to the foor.. ( still usable) just wables. With all of this. I will stay here again I'll just pack a broom.

    Wow, after reading other's reviews, I can't believe anyone would book a stay here. Where do I begin, first and foremost, the staff, they are so rude, and they don't know how the TV's work. The cords were rearranged by the last guest, and not put back correctly for us, so we had to ask the front office girl for help, she managed after some time, to get the cords correct, but that should have been rectified before we checked in. Our room #115 had a kitchenette, the worst equipped kitchen ever. They should tell you on booking what it's like, so you can pack dishes, cups, silverware, etc. what we got were plastic utencils wrapped in plastic with a tiny napkin and a little packet of salt and pepper, something you get at Smart and Final. Styrofoam cups for coffee. One pan, not pots. 4 paper plates and 4 paper bowls. The refrigerator is so tiny, and rusted. Everything was the bare minimum, toilet paper, and towels. The beds were very uncomfortable, the lounge chairs around the pool again, very uncomfortable, you had a bar running along your lower back, terrible. The only good thing about this place is the location, but you have to walk a few blocks and down a long ramp, down the cliff, to get to the beach. The parking is ridiculous, very narrow, and you had to maneuver around cars, and curbs to pull in to a space. We were never told that there was a $250 deposit for staying there, that was a huge surprise upon checking in, also we were told it was $15 for parking per day, but upon checking in, it was $20, and trying to discuss anything with the staff is a joke. I could go on, but by the other reviews, you get a pretty good picture. Do yourself a favor and don't book your stay at Beach Haven!

    This is one of the worst places we have ever stayed from beginning to end. First impression is everything and the lady that works in the front office should never be allowed around people. Period. Her attitude and facial expressions are quite the opposite of welcoming and friendly. Check in is at 4pm. We called and asked for an early check in and she was a little snippy and said it was $35 extra to check in. Never in my life have I been charged to check in early. But ok. When we arrived at 4pm there was a sign on the door saying that they stepped out and would be back soon. We waited 15 minutes until the front office girl came in, opened the door, and with a scrunched up face with a look of disgust said "can I help you, with something". The way she said it was VERY off putting. My sister lives two blocks away and we did not rent a car since we knew we would be borrowing hers. We told the front lady that and she said we couldn't register that car for our room. But our room comes with parking. So how in the world does that make any sense. We explained that to her, and she very flustered said "oh fine, since we aren't busy I will allow it". Very rude. When you check in they give you a full typed page of rules that you have to sign. Again, never in my life have I had to do this. And it wasn't just one signature. You have to initial EVERY SINGLE RULE. little excessive? One signature couldn't work?!? My sister has a service dog and she got yelled at saying animals are not allowed on property. Which is fine she wasn't staying here. But she went to walk us to our room and the front office lady about bit her head off. The rooms were sub par and dirty. There was a used soap bar in the bathroom, a stain on the floor, dusty, not very clean. They do not have maid service for your room unless you specifically request it. I think you might have to pay for it. There are no dogs allowed but there is a noisy dog right outside our window. LOUD construction on property started at 7:45 AM and woke up our 2 year old. So that was SUPER cool. we are only able to sleep in on vacation due to our schedules and work life. But I guess we can just sleep in on our next vacation next year. Overall the price is NOT worth this stay. Definitely put a big damper on our vacation.

    Mickey at front desk was the rudest person. She is not a person who should be in the hospitality business. Even the people working with her, shrugged their shoulders and were whispering behind her back I am sorry. The place is pretty good location. Clean, but not really clean. We spilled water k. The floor and wiped it up and the towel was black. So although looked clean on surface not real clean. Even though says has kitchenette very few items to be able to cook anything. See pics. I would find a place with better hospitality, it would be much better without Mickey, who is a manager. Plus a little better cleaning crew!

    This is the worst hotel I have ever been it. It is less than a 1 star hotel. Parking is a problem. I had to park on the road. The room was next to the road. I got the room with a kitchen. When walking into the room, the first thing we noticed was a very bad smell. There was mold in the vent and the kitchen walls. The fridge did not stay shut, not working and was rusty. The stove was rusted. The plated provided were 2 thin paper plates and 2 styrofoam bowls. No cups or glasses. The bathroom was dirty and the faucet was wriggling back and forth. There were spiders and bugs in the room. Very dirty. Do not stay here. We booked for 5 nights. We did not want to stay the 1st night but the clerk left soon as we checked in after 10pm. We slept in the car, and asked for a refund the next morning when they opened. The manager said they had to charge me for 1 night. I disputed, because the clerk left before we even got into the room to check it out. We had to find another hotel for the rest of the stay. She charges for a 4 or 5 star hotel, and this is like a 1 star hotel. The web site pictures are misleading.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

Alan, the manager, went above and beyond in every way. Our first interaction with him set the tone for the entire stay: kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. We were able to drop off our bags before the room was ready, which made exploring so easy. The lobby was cozy and inviting, with games to play, coffee and water available, and--most surprisingly--a welcome drink! We've stayed at many boutique hotels, but this one truly takes the cake. While we didn't bring our pup this time, it was clear she would have been so well cared for here. We will absolutely be back and will be recommending this hotel to all of our friends.

I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. The hotel's restaurants offered delicious meals, making dining a pleasure. Cathryn, with her crossed key pins, was an outstanding concierge. She provided invaluable advice on local beach spots and dining options. After making a poor Yelp choice, she came to my rescue, finding great restaurants in both the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy that suited our specific preferences. The previous person, which I shall not specifically name, he didn't even contact me at all about the time frame despite him saying he would contact housekeeping. I see everyone else being able to get into the rooms. Translation - if you book through Chase Reserve you're second class citizen. The initial staff probably knows this and that's why he dismissed me so quickly. So annoying.

    Stayed here for a week, worked a conference at the convention center…read more Convenience cannot be beat! Easy 5 minute walk to the convention center. Sky bridge access to Petco park. Our first room was small and the bed was basically down to the springs. It was horrible. However, front desk quickly fixed this and moved us to a new room with a newer mattress, which also happened to be slightly bigger. The beds are soft and springy so just be aware of that if you're used to firmer beds. They also gave us firmer pillows (non down) which was great. Bell hops are friendly! Valet was quick and easy, but super pricey at $70/night. Having a coffee shop, restaurant and bar onsite was great. Depending on the location of your room, it can be loud all night! We were facing the convention center and you can hear the trains go by, which was fine. But our first night (with the bad bed) was facing a parking lot and it was like a party was right outside our window till 2am. Overall, good stay. Remodel makes it look new, though tubs show wear.

Unfortunately, my experience with the billing issue was disappointing. The hotel overcharged me $140 for an extra night of parking that I did not owe. Instead of proactively correcting the mistake, I had to spend part of my evening calling the hotel multiple times to get the issue addressed. I eventually spoke with Vee, who handled my call regarding the overcharge. What was most frustrating was that the error was made by the hotel, yet there was little effort to compensate for the inconvenience. As a courtesy, I felt the hotel could have waived the third night's parking charge given the time and effort I had to spend resolving a mistake that wasn't mine. My time is valuable, and having to dedicate part of my evening to fixing a billing error left me feeling that guest satisfaction was not a priority. While the property itself is nice and some staff members, like Jules, provide great service, this experience left me questioning whether the hotel truly values repeat customers. I hope management takes situations like this more seriously in the future.

    Now this is a hotel…read more I arrived around 430 on a Friday and they had 2 employees handling the check ins. Skylar checked me in he was great, very nice throughout the entire process. I was given up upgrade due to my status and I was very happy with it. I was given the 11th floor and was all the way at the end. I like that because it's less nice and people walking down the hall. The fridge was an old school style fridge I love it!!! The room was perfect and very clean. The view was great as well. For sleeping it was one of the quietest hotels I've ever been in. For something that is downtown that is saying something. I could not hear a single thing at night. They must have solid 10 foot concrete walls. The AC panel is great and easy to program if you like constant AC for sleeping and to block out any outside noise. And for me there was no noise whatsoever no neighbor noise and no noise from outside. I loved the rooftop bar you can see Petco park from there and the drinks are very good! The entire property is top shelf and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to book my next staycation here.

The pros: walking distance to a lot of restaurants, cafes and Petco park. Pretty clean and the staff were friendly. Room was pretty comfortable and the bathroom had a large counter space area. The cons: needed some maintenance, sliding lobby door was very noisy. The handle of the refrigerator was broken in our room. We were initially booked on the 9th floor, the floor connecting to the rooftop bar. We had to ask to switch rooms/floors due to heavy foot traffic on the 9th floor and also due to the noise coming from the next door occupant. There are homeless folks walking around the area so just be aware. There were a few hiccups but overall a comfortable stay.
