There were a number of people who recommended Zen and we were very pleased with our services. Zen is located on Gulf Blvd just .25 miles from where we were staying so we walked to it. Cute little studio with lots of cute items to shop while you wait. The person at the desk is super sweet and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised when I called on Monday and was able to get us all in the same week. I booked for a full one hour with Rebecca and the girls each had 30 minutes with Caroline. The atmosphere in the rooms is very relaxing, the only issue was that you could hear the talking and commotion in the hallway and lobby area. That was a little distracting but that could have been the room I was in. I asked for a deep tissue massage and Rebecca did that. Wow, she really worked some muscle knots out. I almost fell asleep. I would definitely go back to her when I am in town next time. The girls both said their massages were good, just short. I just appreciated being able to get all of us in on that short of notice. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Abby, who gave me a tour of the facility and made me feel comfortable. After showing my proof of insurance, she asked for my credit card. I asked why it was needed, and she explained that it was standard practice to keep one on file, but she wasn't sure of the specific reasons and offered to check with the owner. The owner then came out, without introducing himself, and spoke to me in an irate manner. He explained that if I were to let someone into the gym after hours, they would need my credit card to charge me directly, since they couldn't bill my insurance company. This, he said, was stated in their contract. I asked to read the contract, but instead of providing it, he told me, "It's not going to work out," and asked me to leave. I've never experienced such hostility in any interaction before.

The manager had misrepresented the price two days earlier, but the two other employees had just done so and yet, as if turning on a dime, were all of sudden insisting that the day pass is $15. Well, they didn't get the $15 plus tax, and the business did not get the revenue from an ongoing membership. Pettiness and a habit of lying may be expedient, but the toxic mentality will one day result in customers going to competitors because no one enjoys being that disrespected as to be blatantly lied to. Such a business should go out of business. I would not trust that business with credit-card information.
