I just seen someone at my Bricks looking like a wet rat I asked him where he got his cut he said this joint, wouldn't recommend.

So... I live right down the street, which makes this place extremely convenient. I've been coming here for about 8 months now, and always appreciated how quick and great Marcelo's haircuts were! I am pretty impatient when it comes to getting my haircut, so I appreciated how i can go there and be in and out with 20 minutes. Usually no wait, and I could count on Marcelo being there Tuesday - Sunday at any time. He is no longer working here, and it breaks my heart! He was truly an awesome guy! New owner, seemed nice enough. I have had one cut from him, and he was very personable and cut my hair well enough. Latest experience was last Friday, when I was in need of an emergency cut for a Padres work event I had to attend that night. I went around 1:45pm, and expected to be in and out quickly. There was 1 person in the chair and two waiting. The two waiting had super short hair, and thought they'd be out with in 10-15 minutes each. I asked if I could run an errand and hold my place. I was gone for about 20 minutes, and when I came back she was only half way done with the first guy waiting. Not sure if the new girl was inexperienced, or just slow.... but I wasn't going to press my luck staying there and potentially waiting another 45 minutes before my turn. They need to find more barbers/stylists... especially for a Friday! Or, bring Marcelo back... He gets people in and out of there quick! read more

To put it simply, you're looking to spend around $10 for a cut that rates the price. If you're looking for something quick, convenient, but not the most high quality (so if you're a service member as I am) it's a great spot. Everybody working here is super nice too. Basically I'll come here on my way back to base at the end of the weekend just to get a quick cheap cut that gets the job done, not to get a high-quality trim. MARCELO has been cutting my hair for the past 5 years. He has the first barber chair on the left as you walk in. I live in Encinitas but travel to Oceanside just to get my hair cut by Marcelo. He remembers how I like it because I am a regular customer. (By the way, he is off on Mondays) This is the best value around and it also is one of the few remaining barber shops not run by corporate America. I'd rather most of my payment goes to the guy who does the actual work, rather than the corporate shops that pay barbers a measly salary, and send most of the revenue to a hedge fund! Marcelo does a great job, and is a very pleasant guy. If I had children, I'd definitely be taking them to Marcelo for haircuts. I never had to wait, although I am usually the first customer in the morning. But there are also plenty of very comfortable chairs to sit in if I did have to wait. Popped in yesterday with the fam during the Sunrise Market, in Oceanside, CA. We were greeted by Victoria and told my husband could get haircut in about 5-10 minutes. We strolled around the block, came back, and he hopped in the chair. Victoria was fast and friendly! She told us about the history of the shop and even gelled my 3 year old's hair in a faux hawk to match Dad's. The shop was quite warm inside but that was the only negative - cooler outside. The shop was cute with comic book covers surrounding the upper walls and s television playing the Price is Right. If we lived here, I wouldn't hesitate for Victoria to be our go to gal for men's haircuts! $10 plus $5 tip = perfect haircut experience! read more

There's absolutely no way that the older gentlemen in the straw fedora/chupalla hat still works here. Does the owner review his employees quality? I've given this guy 3 chances. This time I had to go back and have another barber fix my hair. It was completely lob-sided and the fade was so patchy it looked like I tried to cut it myself. I go here every week and have no complaints. I usually try and go to the same 2 barbers. Each barber is different and good with different hair types. My particular two are very good with my hair. Once you become a regular, they definitely get used to your hair. $5 for military personnel if you're just getting the sides cut, $7 if you get some off the top. I would recommend Marcelo or the Hispanic woman with the glasses who works on the far right corner. They always do a fantastic job and take their time! read more

The one barber they sent me to couldn't do a fade to save his life, and he left all the hair on my neck. Charged me $11 for a dog-water haircut and I still have to go get someone else to fix it. It looks like I got a barracks cut. Never again. It almost felt like he was rushing my haircut so he could either get another customer in or sit down and relax. You get what you pay for. Sometimes will leave you mid-haircut to complete more important tasks. Some don't like when you ask for a low fade, so will take it upon themselves to give you a medium, or even a high. Feel lucky if you even get a fade. Free water bottles though so that's pretty cool. Just another sub-average barber shop. I've been there twice, last week, a nice Asian lady cut my hair, but made my hair look like a had a bowl sitting on top of my head. The second time was today, a guy wearing headphones cut my hair. He asked what I wanted, I replied, a low regulation with half an inch off the top. After spending about 2 minutes, he shoved a mirror in my face, I told him what about the top. Apparently he had his music up too loud, cause he unhooked the barber cover and sent me on my way, with patches of hair where it should have been skin. Husband and his military buddies come here every weekend for their hair cut. They are super cheap, like $6 for a cut. They are relatively quick. Consistency is a little off. Some barbers are really good, others not so much. They only accept cash. But there is an atm inside. read more
