We decided to transfer to the Berkeley Home Helpers along with our caregiver Catya. They made sure there was always coverage even if the owners did it themselves, which at times they had too. My father was very happy with the care and devotion of the staff. Sadly my father passed away and even during that time, this caring and wonderful staff came to the funeral and supported my mother and the rest of the family. So I want to start off by saying that my hair stylist(Pasquale) was really nice. She seems very…read moresweet and I was late to my first appointment. They have a 15 min grace window and I was about 10 min late. I told her I wanted a lob and my bangs trimmed (my bangs were how I liked and just needed a trim). Before she cut I said I just want to make sure I can put my hair up. So I was thinking maybe like 3-4 inches below my shoulder is where I pointed to start at the front part because the back would be shorter. She started cutting super fast and literally cut off all my hair in probably 10 minutes. I've tried 4 different stylists here now(2 others left), but her technical skills were ones I haven't seen in ages. Long story short, she cut my hair SUPER short, a little above my shoulder and so I told her to stop because it was too short and a lob would make it even shorter. So it's just hair, but it was not what I wanted and not the length. Then she butchered my bangs and made them too short as well. Then when I got home, I noticed pieces that weren't cut, so I went back(apprehensive) and said please just cut that off and asked if she knew how to thin out the more bulky part of my bangs- specifying the technique other stylist do, where they twist little bits of hair and thin it with sheers) and THEN further said DO NOT MAKE IT SHORTER.. then she took our the serrated scissors which do thin out hair but I literally haven't had a hair stylist since maybe I was 10 and getting my hair cut at Supercuts. And she had me close my eyes and then she cut them even shorter. It was hands down my worst experience here. I've had 2 good stylists here and 2 bad and the only reason I didn't book the last stylist was bc she was booked that time. I wanted my hair to look fresh and cute for my Trip and now I'll be hiding it as best I can in a corgi tail pony and trying to hide these butchered bangs. Oh and she is very pushy on re booking the appointment and I even said I don't think my hair will even be at a length that I like in 2 or 3 months. I came 15min early and only waited about 10min in the reception area after checking in. Fatima was my hygienist and was super sweet to me especially after bonking my head on their 360degree x-ray machine. She got me ice. But it was a very loud bonk. They should definitely verbalize to patients to "watch their head" while approaching the machine and explain what is happening next. It is a very tight and narrow hallway to the restroom which is also nearby the single x-ray machine that the office shares. I think adding a few neon or bright colored signs or stickers directly on the machine might help! After I was resting in the dental chair in my patient room and my cleaning was done, Fatima continued to talk to me about my next steps in my career and was very insightful about her own path to hygienist school. She continued to be pleasant and guided me (safely) to the DDS exam room. No 2nd injuries for me. Fatima continued to apologize and I could tell felt really bad about me hitting my head pretty hard. My forehead was swollen by the end of the week but it's 100% healed now. I have my next 6-month cleaning scheduled and excited to be back.

A month or so passes and I get the mystery bill in the mail. When I called the office, the person on the other line hemmed and hawed about a deep cleaning (that was already paid for and happened in 2024), saying the office would contact me again with more details. Nothing in my dental insurance claims or documents comes close to the amount in this bill, and of course, the office never contacted me. Yesterday I got the same bill AGAIN. It feels like a retaliatory bill because I MOVED TOWNS. This place may have been fine once, but it seems like they're changing their business practices to be dishonest and predatory. Do not use this dentist. There are dozens of other options. I am on the verge of legal action. I have filed a complaint with the California Board of Dentistry and suggest any other patients being extorted by this scammy dentist do the same.
