Excellent food priced right. Staff are friendly and attentive. Everything on the menu is perfect, and we have never had a bad meal here.

This is perhaps the bar with the most character in the Butler northern North Hills area. It's an old farming estate turned into a hotel at one point and now a restaurant, live music, and adult games hang out. Top notch pool hall set up, darts, and vintage 80s video games like Ms. Pacman, Galaga, pinball. They also have a huge outdoor area. I haven't had their food but it's a wings and beer with rock n roll kind of bar definitely worth checking out. Bartenders, waiters, waitresses all very friendly. Beer selection is good with cheapish prices. They have live music on Saturdays and the only time I was there the band was extremely talented. Check out their website for this week's band. Wednesday night is alternative trivia night and Thursday is Karaoke night. I have only been to the Beacon hotel for live music, can't speak to their food or Halloween 'Children of the Corn' Haunted maze run. Sounds pretty awesome though. read more

Have yourself a wretched little time with the dregs of Western Pennsylvania. You'll wonder why you bothered when you realize you are eating some of the worst food you've ever had. The "female" server was one of the nastiest people I've met in quite awhile; the toilets are foul beyond belief; the customers are mouth-breathing morons who are insulting and unbelievably out of their element in the 21st Century. OK, they have pinball. Other than that, I can't think of a single thing to recommend about this smoke-choked ptomaine parlor. My new local hang out. Recently moved to the area and heard that this place has a great outside section so I had to check out. I've been back 4 times in the past month and have been bringing new people with me each time! Had to try the steak topped with crab and shrimp on the summer menu and I'm glad i did before it was gone! Every item i have ordered here was excellent. Service is usually very quick. Beer selection is good and I was very excited about the spiked slushies. Be sure to cut a sunflower for $1 in the fields down the road or at least stop and take some photos of the sunflowers! read more

The place is great in the middle of nowhere the outside court yard is really cool water fountain a bar made out of wood and the tree. Food is expensive and not good at all. It's dirty and the wait staff was horrible. They brought out the wrong food and didn't apologize once, brought out the correct food and there was a fly in it. Stopped in here for a drink and wings after getting Christmas tree and we were told "all we have is wings or fries, and if you want wings it's gonna take 45 min " geez way to turn customers away. This place is practically out in the middle of nowhere. When we got the first thing we noticed was the musty moldy smell. The food was all below average and the service was poor. It's a pretty cool place to drink because it is in the middle of nowhere. The last time I left there though the cops had somebody pulled over doing the field sobriety test. So that kind of kills the idea of drinking there, if the cops are going to hang out outside. read more

Went for dinner on a Friday night and it wasn't very busy. Unfortunately, I forgot that it is a smoking bar and it was smokey throughout the eating area. Food was average at best. Just typical bar food. Won't come back except for the Fat Tuesday's seafood fest. read more

I love the beacon! Fall is always a blast here and they always have so much to do! Great bar food and awesome atmosphere. The service and bartenders were terrible Saturday night! It's the busy season of the haunts but the bar was not overly crowded. If you are a bartender and are extremely rude and fighting with customers about drink orders how do you expect to make any tip money? I have never seen someone treat customers so terribly. We are writing a review because there are several aspects of the Beacon that would persuade us never to go back again. The first was during dinner. The waitress did not tell us that the specials were not valid during "haunt season". We went to dinner there to get the overall experience. Our second issue was the tickets for the haunted attractions. We tried to use a coupon and where over charged. We had to go back to the ticket booth to get correct change. The third issue was the corn maze. The first part of the corn maze was tolerable, even though the actors kept telling you the wrong way after you asked for some direction. Where it went downhill was when they intentionally separated our party. The first half of our group went left and the second went right. The group that went left wandered around and repeatedly asked for the way out, using the safe word - "Beacon". It took us talking to 4 different people before we were given correct directions and a little respect. Some of the actors stood in front of us and would not let us leave. Some taunted us, after we made it very clear we were finished participating in the event and simply wanted to go back. We were given wrong directions "make two lefts" yet again which only added insult to injury The "haunted house" portion was basically non-existent. It wasn't worth even a donation. Plus, the port-a-johns really detracted from what little ambiance there was. Two of us went back to the restaurant to use the restrooms and where asked for ID to get back in. Ninety percent of the actors are high school and even elementry kids - we really felt like we were being punished (wrong directions several times) by asking to leave. There needs to be more supervision by ownership. It was a waste of an evening. We normally enjoy haunted attractions and can very much recommend Cheeseman's Farm. You'll receive better scares, better food, cleaner rest areas, and more professional staff. read more

The food is so-so (except the wings, they are exceptional), and the beer selection is pretty boring. But even though I go just once a year for the corn maze, I am tempted to drive the hour out to Renfrew to eat there about 50-60 times a year. The ambiance of the place is second to none. It's like your grandfather's basement bar, but you don't have to sneak booze. And the people are a lot nicer. So drink too much, eat the wings, and tip well. If you have a soul, you will want to come back. read more

Had a fish sandwich, which was 2 frozen Mrs. Pauls's fish on a bun. Tasted like all breading. My husband had very well done wings. Although the waitress was very friendly. I don't know what happened to the place .but they went down hill from when I used to eat there. read more

I heard about the beacon from multiple radio spots and the amazing haunted corn maze and haunted house they host every October. I decided to go check it out and it was a pretty cool place to go. It's got a cozy feel to it and every was very friendly from the bartenders to the other customers. There was also a dj playing the night I went which was a nice change because there was no cover charge and I didn't have to pay to play the juke box. I later found out they normally have a dj every Friday and a local band once or twice a month. It's also reported that the beacon has been deemed haunted which just adds to the character of the bar. I have been back many times now and it is definitely a destination point. It is a great place to go grab a bite to eat and have a few drinks with your friends or you can make some new ones while listening to some good music via dj of band. Also I have met the owners who are very gracious and humble. I think every one should check it out and enjoy themselves. read more
