Tee box's were very bad and no tee times required. I made it through 9 holes in almost 4 hours and called it a day. Not a super hard course and it's the cheapest around but they gotta force tee times and enforce pace of play. Having 3 groups of 4 on a tee box at a time is insanity read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but this one needs to be said. Beacon Lakes Golf Course is, hands down, one of the worst golf experiences I've had--especially for the price they're charging. Nearly $70 for a round here is honestly unbelievable once you see the condition of the course. Maintenance is clearly not a priority, and it shows everywhere. What really stands out (in the worst way) is the customer service. The staff was not only unprofessional but openly disrespectful. Making comments toward customers--especially families with young children--is completely out of line and unacceptable anywhere, let alone a place that's supposed to be welcoming. On top of that, they're watering the course during active play, which completely disrupts the game and shows a total lack of awareness or care for paying customers. Rules seem to change depending on the day, so don't expect consistency or fairness if you're trying to follow guidelines. At the end of the day, this course is charging premium prices for a below-average (at best) experience. There's a serious disconnect between what they think they're offering and what customers are actually getting. If management doesn't take a hard look at staffing, maintenance, and overall operations, this place is going to continue losing business. This is my go to course since I moved to the area. Nice course for the price. Played on Wednesday for the senior discount. Course had some rough spots with standing water but it had rained the day before so understandable. The pro who checked us in was a little short with us but it was pretty busy. Preface: this is my 3rd time ever playing golf, and my first time here. I booked a 9am Sunday tee for 9 holes with cart time 5 days in advance for 2 players and 2 ride along (wives). Arrived 15 min early. Older man in the club house asked if it would it be under another name I said no, but I had originally requested 7am but change it to 9am an hour after setting the tee time. He said OK, ill put you on cart (7). $69 showed up on the screen; which is about what I was expecting to pay. I tapped my payment in thinking that for for the whole group, until the old man told my brother same thing as he handed me a receipt ($32 for 18 holes) + ($33 1/2 cart fee). Now don't get me wrong that is a little less than what 2 ride alongs for 18 holes would be but, booked 9 holes only. Each couple should have paid $39+tax....not$69 We didn't complain about the issue at the time, I'm not a confrontational person. Also, everyone's complaints about the quality of the course is 100% accurate. Rock hard ground, fairways are should be "JEEP" rated LOL, and nobody fills in divots. ONE more thing. Our wives used the bathroom...they were discussed. The pictures other reviews left of their bathroom is spot on. read more

The fairways are overrun with weeds & potholes. Reminds me of the moons surface with craters everywhere. Greens are no more than fair---- several have washed out areas and weedy in places. Sand traps are just horrible---- lacking maintenance. Tee boxes are in poor condition. Golf carts are not clean, windshields are broke & when up difficult to see out. As someone who has worked at a golf course and has family in the industry--my uncle is a PGA professional and operates his own course in La Porte--I understand the importance of professionalism, respect, and hospitality in the golf world. Unfortunately, Beacon Lakes Golf Club completely missed the mark on all three. From the moment we arrived, the individual working the pro shop made it abundantly clear that customer service was not a priority. His attitude was dismissive, condescending, and frankly, embarrassing for any business that relies on public patronage. The low point came at the very first hole, where he yelled at our group to hurry up--despite the fact that there were players ahead of us and we were waiting like any courteous group would. It was unprovoked, unprofessional, and totally unnecessary. Golf is a sport built on etiquette and patience. It's meant to be enjoyable, not stressful--especially not because of the staff. I've seen how a well-run course operates, and this was the exact opposite. Beacon Lakes may offer a playable track, but no course is worth tolerating that kind of behavior. I would recommend supporting one of the many other local courses that understand the value of treating golfers with respect and creating a positive environment from start to finish. read more

Terrible grounds. Trash fairways. Weeds all over. Signs are dirty and have mold on them. Clubhouse is old and outdated.

If I could give this place negative stars it would still be too many! The grumpy old guy in the clubhouse was very annoyed to be at work, yelling at every customer We asked if there was a a military discount and he said "absolutely not, we don't give them discounts". The owner yelled at us on the first tee for not stoping at the stop sign, well when you come from the other side of the clubhouse the stop sign is not in sight. He told us we should have listened to his Marshall, when we explained his Marshall wasn't there he was argumentative with us that he should have been. He was constantly cutting across the fairway picking up range balls and getting in the way of play then told us that we were stealing from him because we had "one of my balls", a range ball. There are tons all over the fairways. This place is a pit, looks like a cow pasture. And ladies, if you need to go to the restroom go to McDonalds down the road. It is the most disgusting thing you will ever experience. Trying to spend a fun day with the kids fostering the love of golf but this is not the place to do it. read more

Beacon Lakes Golf Course has undergone some significant improvements over the last few years. Customer service has improved, at least for me (the older man who was quite rude has been gone for a couple of years). The course itself is in better shape, especially after a nice rain, but could still undergo a few improvements here and there. The driving and practice putting greens are in pretty good shape. The lighting for night golf is adequate but could be better. The chipping/bunker practice area has been closed for quite some time and needs to reopen. STAY AWAY!!! I wish there were less than one star to be able to select. I live in the area and there's not a lot of selection for courses so I gave it a try. Played there a few times and as others have said, it's "playable" but I'd describe it as a dog track. The range is good enough to work on your game, but the chipping area is never open and the management/staff is absolutely horrible. Rudest staff I've ever been around....I will be finding somewhere else to play....not worth the convenience of being close, and worth the drive to go play somewhere else like Bay Forest. read more

Absolutely terrible golf course. Not mowed at all. The staff said it was because of rain but the ground was hard. Fairways are so bad you can barely drive on them. I had not been in several months and was told it had improved but it has gotten worse. Clubhouse manager is a complete dick. Had 4 people, weren't going slow, played shot to shot as normal moving up the hole, and he drives all the way out to us on the green to tell us we need to play "ready golf" whatever that means. It's not like the course was busy either saw 4 other groups the whole time we were there, and I feel like as a group of 4, it's only natural for 2's and solos to catch up to you and we always let them play through. Place is literally trash. Way overpriced to play on a cow pasture with flags In the middle of it. Greens are hard as asphalt and the fairways are what I'd imagine driving on the moon must feel like. Everything about this course and staff and was absoloutely horrible. Starting off with the workers. The owner highers incredibly rude and grumpy staff. The fairways were incredibly bumpy like you have never seen before. Felt like rollercoaster. Also they were very hard, my 60 degree bent because the fairways were so rough. The greens are also not maintained well. Some of which having dirt patches without any green or divots that will completely set your ball off track. Course has been in terrible condition for years. Pipe one down the middle of the fairway, 50/50 on finding your ball. Way overpriced for the layout and condition. Probably more like a $25 for riding 18 course. Range is RARELY open so if you like to hit balls before your round too bad. Staff here are generally unfriendly with the exception of the 1 female that works in the pro shop. Only thing keeping this course open is the fact that it's the only public course in its city. No beverage/cart person. No water, no ball cleaners on the course. Literally the bare minimum to be considered a golf course. Remove the flagsticks and you have a field. Owner "isn't a cash guy" lol. Their "kitchen" has chips, muffins, and hot dogs (if you're into the gray ones). Overall just a ripoff for what you get at this place. read more

Course is absolutely horrendous from tee box to green. Unlevel, patchy turf, bumpy green. Couldn't seem to get anything done right that you would want on a golf course. Also green fees are $50 on weekend. Which isn't terrible pricing. But considering that this is, without a doubt, the worst golf course in the area. That price is just absurdly high. Go down the road to Bay Forest Golf Course for a $40 round that is in much much much much better condition. Lastly, the only nice person working there is the older lady at the snack bar. Everyone else (starter, pro shop clerk) have no reason being there. They are extremely rude and made me feel unwelcome. I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING TO THIS COURSE!!!! I remember when Beacon first opened, it was nice having a lighted course to play in the summer evenings when things cool off a bit. Over the years it has fallen into disrepair. Today, the course is in terrible shape from the fairways to the greens. Putting these greens is what I call "Circus Putting" since it is just all over the place with dirt patches and lots of scars. been to the course for years ! i always liked the course for how convenient it was and how good the layout is . yesterday before I had to go to work I wanted to play a quick 9 with my wife and son .( my son is 2 ) my wife doesn't play she's gonna watch me and my son . I've played with both of them many times to have some old geezer tell me that it's against the rules after I've been bring my son out there many times . He said we couldnt go on the course unless he's 6. Went to bayou in Texas city with no problem at all . I won't be going back to beacon , I will be telling all my friends , co workers and business meetings to never go there again . Bay forrest and Bayou let you bring your kid under six out there with no problem at all . No matter when you Go to beacon they have some old dudes behind that counter picking and choosing rules to follow lmao . the young dudes over there got it right for sure never a problem with them at all . If you want to be shaken and rattled while driving a golf cart then this is the place for you. Fairways have more pot holes then Kemah construction, more grass types then Home Depot, and bunkers have more weeds then Colorado. Not only was the course treacherous but some guy pulled up in a golf cart as we approached the 8th tee box telling us we need to play quicker because the guys in front of us are 3 holes ahead..."fast golf is fun golf" he said. The group he was referring to started at least 30 min before our 7:00am tee time which makes sense that they would be 3 holes ahead. But what does that matter when the group behind us was walking off the 6th green... if he was part of management he needs to brush up on his marshaling skills, analyze the course movement, and stop antagonizing golfers. Won't recommend this course unless you absolutely have no where else to go or just suggest the simulators at golf galaxy. read more

It has been years since I last played here and went yesterday to play. Well, what a mistake I made for playing there. First complaint is that they accept cash but cannot give change. Went to buy a coke and the smallest bill I had was a five, but they couldn't give change because they do not have cash on hand. Second complaint is the horrible, bumpy, and terrible fairways. Your balls lands in the fairway but it has been swallowed in a huge crack, which are everywhere. You must go very slow in the cart in the fairways because they are so rough. Finally the water coolers on the course are just sitting in a metal chair with no ice and the water tasted horrible. The only positive thing is the staff in the pro shop was extremely friendly and helpful. Plus the pro shop is stocked with an assorted of good items to purchase. I will not venture to play there for the amount they were charging and the horrible shape the fairways are in and the cashless system they have. read more

This course has turned into an absolute joke. Every time I play something is under repair. The fairways feel and look like you're driving on the surface of the moon. The greens are terrible. On top of that the owner is one of the rudest people on the planet. You can never keep the pace of play because randomly they'll start people in front of you on random holes. Pretty certain people started on hole 13 and 16 the last time I played. Do yourself a favor and play anywhere else or don't play at all. The regulars at the course have zero golf etiquette and will ball hawk in front of you for 10 minutes while you're waiting to tee off. Never again will I give this course my money. I don't see it being open much longer, crab grass and weeds have taken over. NEVER AGAIN! read more

There really aren't many public golf course options in League City, which is why I guess this spot has steady traffic... BUT that would be my only guess as to why. Between the unfriendly staff, the green dye that coats your golf balls on the practice green and the fact that 70% of the range balls are dead, I would rather drive 30 min towards downtown Houston to play golf. read more

Well we played at Beacon Lakes Golf course and I would encourage you to avoid this place. The course is in the worst shape and any course I have played in the area this year. Weeds all over the fairway and greens. A mowed pasture is better than here. They obviously don't water enough either because the cracks in the ground in the fairways will kick your ball left or right as if you hit a root. Then there is the lack of customer service. We played a 4 hour round. There was nobody in front of us and the group behind us was on the tee when we were on the green. The group behind them jumped them then asked if they can play through. We were on the tee box. We said yes and they jumped on the box and played that hole rather than skip it like the last hole they skipped to jump people. This delay allowed the group behind us to catch up. After teeing off and taking 1-2 min to look for a ball, we were asked by the marshal at this point to pick up our pace. I didn't respond well to that, considering the situation. While I did not cuss at or anger the marshal I did make it clear that he was wrong and we were on pace. He continued to explain how the course was busy and we needed to play faster so everyone could have fun. I informed him his attitude ensured we wouldn't return. I felt like I was more aggressive than required so I walked over to apologize to him. His response was to defend his action and he actually said if I was a real golfer I would understand pace of play. I told him if he was any good at his job as marshal he would understand that we let a group play through which slowed us, we are under 15 min a hole. His response I am not a marshal I am the owner. Well his bad attitude and complete lack of customer service ability explains why his staff is less than courteous, why the course is in such horrible shape and why we will not return. With the amount of great courses that you can play for less money than Beacon I STRONGLY encourage you to play elsewhere. read more
