PROS: The atmosphere here was absolutely marvelous! It looked like a Roman or Greek theatre. The shows that perform here are top notch and the staff is friendly. My last Yelp review for the Beacon Theatre was over 10 years ago, so I'm due for an update. Last Saturday night, my husband and I went to see Mavis Staple with opening act Alison Russel at the Beacon Theater. The venue is beautiful inside, most especially the performance space. I snapped some pictures before the concert started because cameras and recording devices were prohibited during this performance. For the Mavis concert, we were in Orchestra, but really no bad seat in the house. The acoustics are really good there. Seats are comfortable. It's a great medium-sized venue for concerts. So, yeah, pretty much my opinion really hasn't changed since 2015; it's just been reconfirmed. The Beacon Theatre is a gorgeous venue and great for music lovers. read more

Not a bad place to go for a genshin concert. Kinda small and def better if you get a mezzanine seat. I was given a seat 5 rows from stage and you can see things clearly... So long as the entertainers aren't lying down lol. My ears weren't blasted as much. Pricey food, just bring your own sealed unopened water bottles. The usher was very nice. Second time coming to the Beacon and what a time was had!! I came to see Earth Wind and Fire and it was an awesome experience! Security check was quick and easy. Next time I'll leave my backpack and gym bag at home! In the lobby they have drinks for sale, band merchandise, and light snacks. We found our entrance and went to our seats. Great view of the stage. I don't choose concerts for the venue, as my attendance at various plain concrete slabs in the summer indicates, but the Beacon has great decor including a glamorous ceiling. For last night's John Fogerty show the guitars and drums sounded great but the vocal mix was less than ideal, no idea if that's a Beacon thing. Given that some Beacon headliners could play bigger rooms, the prices can seem initially alarming but you can find bargains. I wound up in a part of the balcony that was closer to the stage than expected but was also an unlabeled semi-obstructed view. It's not crucial that Fogerty's feet may have been out of view but I couldn't see the drummer. Bathrooms are a bit claustrophobic. The workers were helpful in getting people into, and out of, the venue. Audience talking was 47% below average, meaning 88% less than Pier 17 levels. read more

I saw a few shows here - Phil from Netflix's Somebody Feed Phil and also Ronny Chieng and again Ronny Chieng with Hasan Minhaj. The shows were all so great and funny. It's so beautiful inside. Well, we found ourselves back at the Beacon again for the Goo Goo Dolls concert. It's a nice theater. It's clean. It has a nice old pot vibe. The staff is attentive and polite. I was very unhappy with the fact that our view of the front half of the stage was blocked from our seats because the row in front of us had a half wall in front of them separating them from the walkway. The wall was just tight enough to block our view of the beginning of the stage area. That was very disappointed. read more

Beacon Theatre is a classic venue, located on the Upper West Side. It's been years since my last visit, but almost everything like I remembered. The staff is extremely pleasant here from the staff outside the venue, to the box office crew, the concession stand folks, and lastly, the ushers, who in my opinion, go above and beyond. Typically you're asked for your seat ticket and they give a vague response to where you need to go, but here, they actually take you to your seat. The seats are comfortable and the sound quality was great. On my most recent visit, it wasn't a concert, it was a comedy show, but everything went swell. I'd definitely say it's worth a visit once in your life. read more

Probably my favorite venue to see live music in NYC. Been coming to the Beacon since the 80's. Smaller than Radio City and MSG, but also feels more intimate without feeling claustrophobic and tight. Acoustics and sound quality is fantastic. No matter the genre of music, everything sounds good in here!! Seats are surprisingly comfortable even though I'm usually standing for the majority of shows I've seen here. I haven't purchased food or drinks here, but they are definitely available for purchase. They're beautiful maintained impeccably with care that what you would see of something you owned and appreciated yourself and they are run by a team Who's sole mission is to deliver the highest level of service and safety possible in a public theater! Gorgeous theater. I saw Jackson Browne on 8/14/25. I bought the ticket 2-3 hours before the show started. The sound and acoustics are great. The theatre is old and the seats are smaller. The show was great and Jackson Browne played for 3 whole hours. The theatre was HOT. People were asking the ushers why they turned the air off! After his 3rd encore I was wishing he'd call it a night so I could get out of here to cool off. For the record I was wearing a sleeveless top. read more

Purchased tickets to the K-love concert series here on Broadway for my birthday. Very excited to see the artists as well as attending my first show at the Beacon Theater. We walked from Penn Station to the theater a 2.2 mile walk. Had dinner and jumped in line at 6p with a handful of others. The wait was quick as they organized us into two lanes, then three which saw us second in line to go in. Once in, I went directly to the merchandise table and hubby went for beverages. The sales people were having difficulty with the computer but did their best to help people expediently. I got another Toby shirt, two Jeremy shirts and a CD. I was paying attention and noticed she charged me too much. After a quick review she deleted the extra t shirt she hit in error. Now time to find our seats. When I ordered the seats I had no idea what Loge meant. We had seats in Loge 2 section at the back for more room for my man. Well, that did not work out as I had hoped. He's 6'6 and the seats were too small for him. We were going to see if we could swap seats with the two ladies next to us but after the show started, there were 6 empty seats next to me so we slid over to give one of the women their leg room back. Decorated with a Poseidon theme with elaborate carved wood statues and rails it is truly a beautiful theater. After the first two artists there was a break for the sponsors so I decided to look for the restroom. Unfortunately there were none located on our floor we could go down or up. I chose going up and quickly found myself on a long line. Many ladies walking up to the line only to turn around and leave. As the line grew longer the ushers gave us more room to form our line. As the line grew the ushers were informed that ladies can use the men's room. So off I went with a sizable group of women. Men had first dibs and ladies filed in. The rest room was clean and well attended by a friend man whose name I did not get. Back to my seat for the beginning of an intermission! We looked at the clock and it was only 9:15p! The last, and in my opinion the BEST artist came on a little after 9:30 and gave a wonderful performance. The sound here is amazing, Katie Nicole sang acoustically, I could hear her crystal clear from the second tier. It was heartwarming to see children enjoy the show with parents and grandparents! The whole program was great. We will return when another show we like comes to town. read more

This theatre is a good place to go to see concerts. I went here with my sister and brother-in-law to see a Toby Mac concert. As everyone else has said. It has good acoustics and the staff is relatively friendly. They have good seating with good view of the stage. There are bars that serve drinks and food/snacks at every level. Three things to note: 1.The Beacon only accepts debit or credit but they do have a reverse ATM that gives you a card if all you have is cash. 2. You do have to go through security when you enter with a metal detector and they will manually inspect your bags. 3. This place, being built in 1929, has no elevators and ramps for wheelchairs so keep that in mind. Other than those things, it's a nice place to go to for concerts. read more

I have attended events here at the Beacon Theatre quite often. I like this theatre it is great for comedy shows. The bathroom line can be hectic towards the end of the show since there aren't many bathroom stalls in the theater. I have sat high up in upper level seating and have also sat in the orchestra level seats. I have also had first row seats which are pretty nice to be that close up. The theatre is well kept and clean. I like their new addition of self checkout it makes buying water or a can of beer easier and therefore quicker to get to your seat to enjoy the event you came here for. I came here most recently to see Chris D'Elia on May 2, 2025. He was amazing in his comedy work. He brought a lot of energy to the stage and the crowd was ecstatic to see him live. I have mostly been here to see comedy shows and this theatre is conveniently located near the subway train station and restaurants. 10/10 theatre recommendation. read more

I wish I could remember our bartenders name, he was a delightful person on the ground floor bar, the furthest west one could be by the Amsterdam entrance. Had on a lovely pearl dangly earring. My daughter and her family gave me an early Christmas present--tickets to the Beacon Theatre to see For King and Country, Christmas special. My daughter and I went on a Monday night and it's the first time either of us have been to the Beacon. It's quite lovely inside. It's very old but it's very well kept. The staff is great. They're very helpful and very pleasant. I like the coziness of this theatre even though it's not small. The concert we saw was absolutely amazing. Luke and Joel sing in such harmony together and their band is perfect. It's hard to pick a favorite song they sang that night, but if I had to, The Drummer Boy was awesome. I really liked the way they sang Silent Night and the lights and special effects were phenomenal. This band will not tour in 2025 but I'm hoping they return to the Beacon in 2026. I'm saving my money for front row seats! read more

The venue was nice and Jerry Seinfeld was hilarious! Prices are reasonable for drinks and snacks. The only problem I have is the bartender in the basement area near the bathroom telling you that you have to tip. That's the only option you have when you use a credit card? You can't even add your own tip. The only reason why I didn't complain was because I had to go get into the show. They better fix that system. That's ridiculous. Or check your bartender in the basement near the bathrooms telling people they have to tip or select something and then select it for you. The Iconic Beacon Theatre! This theatre will always hold a special place in my memory. While I've had the opportunity to view a variety of different acts and productions over the years, it's the first place I remember seeing a play/musical as a little girl. However, The Beacon is not just important to me and my memory, it is actually a part of New York history. The interior, has been designated as a NYC landmark and listed on the National Registrar for historical places. I recently had the opportunity to re-visited The Beacon Theatre to attend the live performance of comedian Ali Siddiq. Whom is a must see comedian from Houston. His storytelling is in a realm of its own, making both his performance and comedy top notch. Someone I truly enjoy and happy I had the opportunity to see Ali perform in person. My recent visit highlighted that I have never penned a review for the this historic venue. The Beacon Theatre is the pure definition of old school, but old school that is still current and relevant. Located on the upper westside of Manhattan, The Beacon acts as a welcomed reprieve for us New Yorkers that don't always want to deal with the chaos of much larger venues. Opened in the 1920's as a movie palace, by no means is the theatre small. There are three levels and almost 3,000 seats. The production of live performances began in the mid 60's and in the 70's the theatre was renovated to be a music venue. Ownership and mangement has changed multiple times of the years and there have been some failed attempts to change the theatre's use to accommodate things other than live entertainment. Nonetheless, the theatre has remained a live music venue and in the early 2000's Madison Square Garden Entertainment acquired it and manages the venue today. The Beacon has hosted a plethora of different acts and productions in its history. I have personally lost count of how many times I've had the opportunity to check out different performances here over the years. If you never been to The Beacon Theatre, it should be on your list of "MUST" if it's not already. Gorgeous inside, seats are a bit wonky, but have good cushion. Very crowded in the lobby area. Theater is located next to 72nd station, convinient commute with 1 2 3 trains. Tickets are scanned outside the theater and security checks are swift. There a bunch of booth selling (alcohol) drinks, popcorns and candies. One booth for merchandise. One vending machine for buying drinks and water with self service. After a show ends, they open the side doors, so exit is fast and efficient. read more

I've been here several times over the past few decades. The first time I came here was back in the 90s when I took someone from my daycare to see The Wiggles. I've also seen Chris Daughtry here and a few weeks ago, Geddy Lee . It's a beautiful and historic venue. The venue is very easily accessible by the 72nd Street Subway station, which is 2 blocks away. They have many barricades set up outside to make the flow of the line orderly. I had balcony tickets for Chris Daughtry, but to my surprise, they upgraded me to a few rows from the stage! That's was delightful. Although, those seats up front are dreadful! So uncomfortable. I felt squashed the whole time. The seating is MUCH more comfortable in the balconies. I sat in the first balcony for Geddy Lee. I had a great view, even though I was sitting towards the back. The seats were soft and glorious. The acoustics are fantastic. It's very easy getting in and out of this place, no matter how crowded it is. I also noticed that they put out the unsold boxes of popcorn for people to take for free as they leave. That's a sweet deal right there! I definitely will be back if another one of my favorite artists plays here. I'll just stick to the balcony seating! read more

We were here for John Oliver and Seth Myers. The ticket instructions told us to come one hour early for the security - which we arrived to find was practically non existent. (Like that meme of the minimum effort guy patting you down.). Then they told us we couldn't leave once we get in. So we had to sit around for one hour and buy their crazy overpriced vending machine snacks (twizzlers + tiny pretzels + bottle of water =20 bucks!). Whole experience is terrible. As someone who's seen lots of Broadway shows, I've never felt so shamelessly ripped off at a theater. Leaves a bad taste. read more

I've noticed that even the carpeting hasn't been replaced and the bathroom is old school. They usually have comedians come here to perform. That's the reason why I went to see Seinfeld at his residency in nyc. The security process is very through so be sure to bring minimal things with you and no liquids. Which is just like an airport where they wand you + make you walk through a metal detector + search your belongings. Otherwise, everything was smooth. The bathrooms are either on the top balcony or lobby floor. They also have concession stands and merchandise booths on dedicated floors. All in all, I would go back. The Historical landmark, built in 1939, was originally a movie palace, showing 1 movie a week continuously from 11:30 am to 11:30 pm. It boasts high ceilings, a mural in the lobby area, arched doorways, chandeliers and 3 seating levels. It seats just under 3,000. I have seen several different types of shows at his venue (a lecture and music performances) and was seated in several different sections. I always had a good experience. This time was to see comedian Jim Gaffigan from the upper balcony seating. The view was pretty good. The seats are close together, but are comfortable enough with a bit more wiggle room and leg space compared to other venues ( like Carnegie Hall). Staff was pleasant and got everyone in relatively quickly and did not rush us out of the venue immediately after the show. Guided tours are also available. MSG now owns and operates this theater and they do use facial recognition, so just be aware if they have their mark on you! read more

Visited the theatre for a John Legend concert. Walking in the security is strict which is appreciated. The front lobby is small and gets packed very quickly, I recommend getting drinks anywhere either than the first floor. The bartenders are fast and the drinks were just as expected. There was an incident where someone had to be escorted out and security handled it very well and lowkey. If I weren't sitting right behind I wouldn't have even noticed. read more
