I've been to Beamer's only for Brunch, never for dinner. The brunch menu is a very simple one pager that ranges from Biscuits & Gravy, to omelettes, to pancakes, and a few healthier options as well. I've probably ordered everything on this menu except for the healthy options and have never been close to disappointed. Top it off with tasty mimosas and impeccable service and it is a great way to dine out on a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon. Bonus point for serving brunch til 2:00PM! read more

On a recent business trip a few of us ventured away from downtown to the sports bar opened up by the legendary Virginia Tech football coach. The place has a multitude of TV's to watch a game, enjoy a wide selection of craft beers and gnosh down some quality bar food. I had the burger with the fried egg on top, an order of fries bathed in truffle oil and a craft beer..or two...fantastic! The employees were attentive and the atmosphere laid back. Update 14-April-2018. Beamer's 25 has gone from one of my favorite stops-in restaurant for a burger and beer to never wanting to go back again. I waited to write this review after a visit on 14-April-2018. I left disappointed and a little upset at the treatment received during this visit. The service has diminished greatly, and the food was not as good and took longer to receive after the order was taken. My daughter and I were seated by the hostess outside after she got up from the table and stopped playing on her phone. Amy was our never appearing waitress, she never came to give us a menu, glass of water or take our order. I had to hail someone for SERVICE after sitting for about 15-20 minutes. Jon did take good care of us and was very nice. Customers should never have to ask for service when they choose your restaurant for a meal. Why be a waitress or waiter if you don't like all people, not just your friends? You can't keep your doors open by only being respectable to people you know or who come a little more regular. Before we left I did notice that two females came in and were seated behind us. Surprise Amy appeared to serve them in a few minutes. It seemed like she knew them and was very friendly. Sad to say I have two Beamer's Growlers which, will not be filled with one of their craft beers. I don't spend money where I am not appreciated. A restaurant's service is only as good as the Manager. Went there for dinner and service was slow. The place was not crowded. We got our food, sandwiches/burgers are small. You have to order sides or your plate is just the sandwich/burger. Price was $10.00 for just a small burger. Total bill for two burgers, steak sandwich, side of tater tots, side salad and two beers was $62.00. Tried this restaurant based on Yelp reviews. I would give 4 stars but had issues with service. We went there at 8 on a Friday after the usual dinner rush. The hostess was a little cold and put off when we entered and asked for a table, with the main dining area about 2/3 full. We were seated promptly after "squeezing" between already occupied tables (it's a little awkward for space). Our waitress came promptly and took our drink order (1 beer), and left menus with little introduction. If you don't like beer or bourbon, you have to tell the waitress what cocktail you would like-- no cocktail menu-- and limited wine. My wife tried ordering a few different cocktails and it was like "go fish" to figure out what they would/could make. 10 minutes later she brought my beer (it's an open kitchen concept so we could clearly see she was talking with the other staff). We ordered the onion rings -- they came after about 15 minutes and were slightly overdone and little ketchup (plain not spices)-- good but nothing to write home about. My wife enjoyed the veggie burger-- I had the SteveO burger. It was cooked perfectly (med rare) and very good although there were no red onions. I also tried the tater tots. They were very good although even with these (dumped on the plate with the burger) the presentation took away from the plating of the burger. When the waitress (finally) came to see that we were finished-- she asked if we would like dessert (fried Oreos ) and promptly left the check on the table before we could answer. This place would've gotten four stars, but sadly I think our waiter lost his personality and forgot how to smile or joke around the night we went. It's a Virginia Tech bar too so that has it going against it, ;-). The bar itself was pretty nice, we got seated fairly quickly and they also had an outside patio. It was a bit hot inside but it cooled down pretty quickly. As stated above, our waiter was curt, but quick so I guess that's what matters. All our food was greatttt though, really top notch. I waited three visits to write this review. Twice in the evening and once during lunch. The food is okay for bar food. Most everthing in here is buger/salad-oriented--bar food with some entrees. The burgers are above average...the salads, about average. I had the 16 oz ribeye (which was pretty good) and some vidalia onion rings (again, good). Our table had pretty much every appetizer and all were good for bar food. Avoid the Blackened Ahi tuna. It's cooked to order (most people order it rare). It's cut entirely too thin and is not cooked/prepared well. The presentation was prertty bad. The fried pickles were very good (I recommend them) and I'd put them up against similar offerings from Hooters (more bar food). I haven't really tried any desserts, but if you're in downtown Roanoke, you could do a lot worse for lunch for the money. While I probably won't return---this place would be great for people who like bar food (Applebee's/Chili's, etc). read more

Food: Not really sure what is going on here, ordered the pork burger and my fiancee ordered the smoke house burger. Not sure what seasonings were actually in the pork burger itself, meat was dry and bland.Presentation was good, Pork burger looked very inviting on the plate. I ended up removing most of the toppings off the pork burger was not my cup of tea, my fiancee eats like a bird so my fat self consumed the remainder of her burger to be honest even a plain beef burger again was tasteless, I don't know if the burger was made of lean cuts of meat or lacked basic seasonings, but the meat honestly had no flavor. No complaints about the fries however, very delicious fries, but to be honest McDonald's does too so nothing I would be returning for. Great beer selection was impressed with the tap room. The regular, we travel all over the US for my job and Beamer's 25 was a recommendation based on a conversation about Bourbon. So I told my husband who is a Bourbon enthusiast. He was quite excited to go and of course they didn't disappoint with the amount of different available Bourbons. He did the flight of 5 and I can't even remember which ones he tried. However, I do remember him spilling a taste of Wild Turkey Diamond and our wonderful bartender replenished it for him. She was a SAINT. He ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and stated it was cooked to perfection and was very tender and juicy. I ordered the Wasabi Panko Crusted Salmon. YUM YUM YUM!! There aren't enough descriptive words to express my love of this dish. No pictures because I was to excited to eat my food. We will be back for sure!! read more

I live in the Roanoke Valley and have went to this location three times. The first time that I went, it was a pleasant time with no hitches. The second time I went, it was a busy Friday night. I ordered a burger and tator tots. I ordered the burger medium rare. After a normal wait (for a busy Friday) my burger came out without the tator tots. This wasn't a big deal since the waiter said they would be right up. I took a bite and the burger was WELL-done. The waiter knew that I had asked for medium rare and instantly asked if I wanted to keep it or he would be happy to have them make another one. I decided to have them make another one since it was simply burnt. At this time, my tator tots arrived. I said I would rather have something to eat then to have them make new when the new burger came out. About 5 minutes later, I received my new burger. Took a bite and it was well-done. this time though, it was still edible. The waiter immediately said that he was sorry and offered to have the cook remake the burger. I declined. The manager did come over and ask if the burger had been overcooked again, he apologized, but didn't offer any solution to the problem. He seemed very apathetic to the problem... At this point I just wanted to eat and leave. The group I was with had already finished their food and I was just done. After this I thought it had just been an overwhelmed staff on an unusually busy Friday and I wouldn't let one occasion define the restaurant. I decided to go back to try their brunch this past Sunday(2/9/2014). The restaurant had approximately 3 tables when I arrived with a friend. We both ordered brunch and had a drink at the bar. Roughly 30 minutes pass and our waiter/bartender comes to us and apologizes for the delay saying the food will be right out. The time had not really bothered me, but it was a nice gesture anyway. Fifteen minutes later, I see the waiter over at a table on the far side of the restaurant speaking with someone in a chefs outfit. Apparently the head chef was sitting down to have lunch, on the clock, and the staff that was cooking did not know how to cook the brunch menu items! At this point, all the tables that had been seated after we arrived (three tables of 2+) had all gotten their meals. I assume that they had ordered off of the normal menu and not off the brunch menu. This was the final straw... Eventually, we did get our food and to be honest, it was actually very good, but I will not go back and would not recommend this place. The exterior looks great, the interior atmosphere and decor is great, the wait staff is good, but I have seen better management skills at Denny's at 2:30AM on a Saturday night. read more

The building on Salem Ave. in Roanoke is a nicely remodeled 1930 warehouse with handsome (original?) wide plank oak floors. Nice architectural work. Our party of three, ages 60-67, went for dinner Saturday Feb 7, 2015. The average age of the clientele was maybe 25, since most seemed to be of college age, but not necessarily college students, more blue collar types that eat dinner with their ball caps on. The restaurant was almost full and looking around before we were seated,, most tables had pizza or burgers. The table of 4 right beside us had burgers, most of which appeared burned to me - whatever. We ordered a starter of Fried Pickles and for entrees a turkey burger and their Supreme Pizza. The waitress said that the pizza was "enough for 2 people". Cool. The pickles were served promptly with watered down ranch dressing. It was clear from the near-burned dark brown crusty breading, that these pickles had been under a heat lamp for a long, long, long time. An ominous start to our dinner. Shortly our entrees were served. Luckily the burger was cooked properly, and was pretty tasty. However, the $12 Supreme Pizza was a grand disappointment.. First of all, it is only 10" wide (maximum) but since it had a wide crust, the actual pizza part was only about 8 to 8 1/2 inches. The surprise part was that the toppings, cheese and sauce were amazingly sparse. Each of the 6 pieces had only one thin piece of pepperoni each, but virtually no Italian sausage, or mushrooms, or green pepper or black olives. The "red sauce" was almost non existent as was the mozzarella cheese. And the crust itself was very thin and cooked crisp like a saltine cracker. Jeez.. My friend I was sharing the pizza with looked at that sad little pizza and then looked at me, then looked back at the pizza, shook his head and said "I hope we are not hungry!". And did you know that it is possible in 2015 to shave pepperoni so thin that you can't taste it but you can actually see through it? Go to Beamer's 25 and order a Supreme Pizza and see this wonder for yourself. No, on second thought, do yourself a big favor and just skip Beamer's altogether. read more

I had dinner for the first time at Beamer's 25 last night, and everything was great. There really isn't anything close to this atmosphere anywhere else in Roanoke. The drinks and food were delicious, and the beer selection even had me (a non beer drinker) tasting. The staff was helpful and attentive as well. My only complaint is that they are not open later, this would be a great spot for drinks on a Saturday night. Otherwise, I have found my new go to restaurant. read more

We went here because so many had said this is the best burger in Roanoke. Chili burger was dry; chili was old looking, and burger dry. Bacon cheese burger with no condiments. Had to ask for ketchup and served a small portion for same tater-tots I had in grade school 40 years ago. Fried pickles were too heavily breaded. 40 bucks for two hamburgers appetizer and a beer was way too much for what was served. Way over hyped and I struggle to give it a 3 star. We walked to Beamer's 25 after wrapping up an afternoon of brewery-hopping at Big Lick down the street. Our group of eight almost all had a burger or sandwich and they were all cooked perfectly and delicious. Many of us also had the deep fried Oreos for dessert and they were the best I've had. I love the atmosphere and low, warm lighting provided by the Edison-style bulbs. There were many games on at the bar if that's your thing. I'd highly recommend checking out this restaurant and the outside area would be perfect on a warmer, dryer night. read more

The burgers were outstanding...I had the Reuben with tater tots and the corned beef was excellent, not to mention the burger was so juicy and delicious. I also had a bit of my friend's burger, the Bookie and it was delicious. The cheese whiz and steak were excellent. The service was a bit shaky at first and they didn't have the first two beers that my buddy and I wanted, but overall it is a great place I think. I've been trying to support this restaurant since I live close by but lately they seem to be more interested in taking my money then forming a relationship! I've questioned the bill atleast 3 of the last 4 trips I've been here, only to be told "no that's how much it is." Don't get me wrong their food is good and I'm sure some Roanokers think its mind blowing but in bigger markets their menu is pretty average. It's the arrogance that has done it for me and after tonight I won't be frequenting this spot as much. I just paid $23.21 for a bbq chicken pizza and one beer! $9 for a ballast point sculpin which I often stock at my home in Charlotte NC for $12 a sixer and have never paid more then $5 on tap. When I question it I'm feed a line about how expensive ballast point beer is... I get the impression that most of the crowd in here doesn't mind being overcharged and to them this is probably 5star bar food but honestly this place couldn't pull this off in a bigger market.
