A super cute coffee shop in the Coquitlam area. Very friendly staff behind the counter and a decent amount of seating for studying and to catch up with friends. I got a latte to go and thought it was pretty good. Highly recommend if in the area!

To have the owner of Beanery to techno babble me is humorous. Still, doesn't matter how "great" you say your coffee are, ultimately it is the customer that determines the value of your provisions. By the way, no one ordering coffee from you is going to read your "how to coffee" manual. (In a former life I was a trained Barista and worked 3+ years.). Typically professional cafes do not use "the coffee of the day" to make espressos. They simply stick to only dark roasts. No wonder your espresso drinks are so acidic. At the end of the day, instead of apologizing for a cup of very sour expensive coffee which is worse than the $1 McDonald's coffee, you are reprimanding me for my review? Are you serious? This just shows a) previous reviews for your establishment may be gamed or b) what terrible hospitality you provide. For this I am taking 2 stars off from my previous review.

Have been coming to this community eatery for a while now, stopping by for refreshing drinks and bites after doing the Coquitlam Crunch or on the way back from walks. I've tried their maple lattes and they're decadent. The shaken iced teas come with a variety of flavours. They're light and refreshing, with unique and distinct flavours. The pizzas are good. On the slightly more expensive side but the variety and quality of the ingredients stands out, and you are still full (possibly with a slice to spare). I would recommend calling ahead to order since they can be out of ingredients. I personally really like their butter chicken and four cheese pizza. The menu seems to have changed for the summer, with smoothies and shaken iced teas being the bulk of the menu aside from coffee staples. Im excited to try some of the new smoothie items at a later date.

Being a big coffee drinker (regular at Dean & Deluca when I was in New York for 4 years), recently dropped Starbucks after 20years of patronage as their Americano quality deteriorate by the week while prices keep creeping up, I am always in search for a decent cup of coffee and I am more than happy to shell out anything between $4-$5 for a cup. So far Daniel Chocolate holds the 1st place for true Cup of Joe in the Tri-City area, and I am eager to find one that is closer to my home in Coquitlam Central. So I was exceptionally hopeful when a coffee place called "Beanery" showed up in my neighborhood. The name denotes I could expect a true barista brewing my Americano. A read through Yelp reviews assured me this is a proper coffee house. Upon entry the place was cute with stained glass windows and lots of toys, nice chalk board letterings in menu. I was greeted by friendly young girl of about 13-14 year old. There was maybe one customer in the back with a lap top. I was weary that there wasn't more patrons. Ambience wise, I don't see any special or theme lighting, no fireplace, no cushy comfy seating. Mostly are hard wood chairs on concrete floor. It feels like a place students can come to do homework, no so to bring a friend to relax over coffee. So I went ahead and ordered my Americano, and was uneasy that the young girl was the cashier and the barista.......and upon receiving my Americano I was already weary that there was no creme on top (usually a bad sign). Upon my first gulp, the sourness and thin texture really puts me off. I didn't complain as I didn't want to give the young girl a hard time. Guess I will have to keep on walking more than 30minutes to Daniel Chocolate for my cup of Joe in the mean time. I am looking for a standard cup of Americano, nothing too fancy or out of this world complicated with all kinds of syrup or low fat milk, soy, cashew milk etc: Criteria of a standard cup of Americano that my rating is based on: -Creme on top -medium body that lingers a bit in the mouth, not over watery and thin -aroma with a slightly sweet note -tiny speckles of coffee bean oil visible floating on top -a balance of flavours with acidity in the background hardly noticeable, not at the forefront. Maybe next time I will try their tea instead. Can't go wrong with tea-only need to add boiling water. Looking forward in the future to add 1 more star if the tea is good. Coffee Taste 2/5 Coffee Body 2/5 Ambience/cleanliness 3/5 Service 3/5 Total=10/20 =50%

My friend and I came here for lunch on a Sunday. A big place but not alot of seating for small groups ( alot of large tables to sit 3 or more and a bar style seating near the front window). It's an order first , then sit type of place. We ordered the chicken supremo 12" pizza, a dark hot chocolate and a tea latte. Despite it having more of a coffee house vibe the drinks were average. I was surprised that my tea latte did not have a tea bag inside, so overall it was more on the sweet side. My friend said the chocolate in the hot chocolate was very mild side. The pizza, however, was very satisfying. Good amount of chicken to veg ratio and a generous amount of melty, straight cheese! Not greasy and great flavoring in the sauce. Most of the tables have outlets near by so it would make a nice study spot.

This place doesn't disappoint! Just had the capicola pizza - Unreal! If you live in the area, Plateau pizza has nothing on these guys.

The coffee is quite average, but the food tasted amazing!! Love that this place is tucked up in the mountain. It's a good environment and you won't get distracted if you're trying to get work done. I got the pepperoni sandwich with spicy mayo on the side and it was delicious. My mom got the pesto chicken sandwich, which was very large in portion and worth the price. I would definitely come again!

Both sandwiches were good; the bread was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. They were a decent size and made neatly, the addition of hickory stick chips inside the sandwiches is a interesting touch. The pizza was okay, but for its small size, it would be best suited for a child to eat on their own. The size reminded me of the pizza that McDonald's used to offer, and at $17, I found it a bit steep. Overall, the service was good. The staff recommended the most popular items, which was helpful since it was my first visit to Haida. However, I do think the prices are a bit high for what you get.

She would also like to expand their menu to include a liquor license. So we shall see what happens then. Coffee is good. Pastries were okay. Pricing is slightly above average. I ate it cold, and in retrospect, I should have reheated it in a microwave. Reheating it would've made it softer, but the limited amount of icing and cinnamon would still have been demerits. The sandwich was good, the service was good and I will come back again. But, next time, I'll probably stay clear of the refridgerated pastries. I understand that it takes time to make and deliver the pizzas especially during the rush hour on a weekend but the wait time was still slightly longer than expected. The food was also cold (not even lukewarm) when they arrived. (Our location was only 10 min away!) The flavors were slightly lacking because the toppings were quite sparse.
