Stumbled upon this cafe in New West after having our car serviced at Ford. I ordered a latte with cashew milk while the hubby ordered their breakfast wrap. The lady at the counter was really nice and friendly. My latte was well made while the breakfast wrap was served grilled and it was tasty and filling. The cafe has a homey ambience and they had lots of seating available. Wifi is free and bathrooms are clean (just ask them for the key). Street parking is available with a fee. read more

The staff is amazingly friendly and they do a lot of good for the community here. Their cinnamon roll is to DIE for, and their savoury lunch stuff is EPIC! (I'm a huge fan of the grilled cheese + tomato soup but their chef has been all over the world and the soups are always amazing!) If you find yourself near the BC Provincial Law Courts in New Westminster and you're looking for a place to hide out, you only have to go across the street to duck inside The Hide Out Cafe. The Hide Out Cafe is a self-acclaimed "hidden gem" which serves up paninis, wraps, salads as well as Fair Trade coffee. I showed up on a sunny May weekday and decided to try their Grilled Chicken Panini ($10.49) with meaty chunks of chicken, creamy melted cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. Their menu appears to be limited to whatever they have already prepared for that day. The panini press gave this sandwich a nice crunchy exterior and turned a rather ordinary sandwich into a pleasantly hot, ooey-gooey treat. Perhaps not the best sandwich that I've had and I'd prefer if the sandwiches were made-to-order, but adequate for the neighbourhood. They also have a hidden patio off the side of the cafe where you can enjoy the sunny weather. read more

Decided to pop into this cafe since they had a fresh cinnamon bun sign outside. I ordered a cinnamon bun but sadly it was hard. The lady did instruct me to heat it up for 30 seconds before I ate it but it was still hard after heating. read more

Amazing food. Every thing is premade, usually I would have an issue with that, but when they grill the food up, I wouldn't have known it was premade if I hadn't seen it my self first. By premade they make their meals the day before. They are a smaller and pop shop, I couldn't believe how busy they get , for such a small space . Recommend : mango chicken wrap/ or the tuna bagel sandwich, or the breakfast wrap. I can't decide between the three that I love the most. It's sad to say I dream about this place, lll their food was out of this world read more

Solid breakfast wraps, soup and latte! My lunch came to $17. I found that a touch pricey for the ambiance. The place looks like the standard coffee shop with board games and limited seating. The bigger tables are reserved only for groups of 3 or 4 people when I asked. My food was great. My wrap was loaded with cheese, egg and sausage. Broccoli and cheese soup was creamy. Hide Out Cafe is a New Westminster gem. Its cinnamon buns are delicious and their wraps are so yummy. More importantly, their staff are terrific, fun and kind. I remember going there for board game nights and having a blast. It couldn't continue in the current pandemic, but I want to thank Hide Out Cafe. Falling in love with it helped me fall in love with New West. Becoming a regular there was like coming home. read more

I absolutely love this place! The wraps here are AMAZING and they actually have a proper grill that throughly heats your food. I hate when you get to the middle of something and it's luke warm or cold. Please try the mango chicken wrap and grilled cheese with tomato soup when it's on special. There soups are delicious and the lattes ... omggg. I also tried a panini the other day and it was equally delicious however I'm not a super big fan of corn chowder it came with. The only down side is the prices. They are quite high however it's a small little business so I don't mind supporting them. read more

I really like coming here to study and grab coffee. The cinnamon buns are so good!! They also have a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. Sometimes they are busy around lunchtime but they do take orders on the phone to pick up! The only reason i cant give it 5 stars is that the food is pretty pricey. read more

Please try the Baja wrap! It is really good. I love the cheese! It is very well-balanced. The pulled pork wrap is nothing to sneeze about too. It is a huge wrap filled with meaty goodness; the sauce is not overpowering either. Mel Ann is the owner of this awesome establishment. I love all the snacks and the fact that they have coconut water. She even holds cool board gaming events every other week. It is a great promo. Pay $10 for some yummy food and all the board game play you desire. Parking isn't bad at all. There is plenty of street parking, and it isn't too expensive for the meter. Gotta try this place! read more

I must say I am not impressed with their veggie breakfast wrap. Paid $10 for Processed singles cheese and I could barely taste the red peppers and veggies in the wrap. Also tried a pumpkin loaf which was cold and hard. They're coffee is good and a nice place to study and do homework. read more

Delicious! And sort of a hipster vibe. I ordered the veggie breakfast wrap and it was just so good! Flavorful and filling with avocados, eggs, cheese, potatoes, and a hint of basil. Grilled to perfection. We were initially sort of turned off by the fact that they wouldn't let us trade 2 Canadian dollars for 2 single 1s but they made it up by taking initiative to suggest some places to eat and see, once they found out we were visiting from the U.S. That was nice :) but the food definitely 5 stars! read more

The food here is excellent. I often have a hard time deciding what to eat when I'm here, but I always fall back on the soup and 1/2 a sandwich lunch combo for $7.99. The tomato chowder is seriously the best soup I've ever had. The chef/owner puts a lot of effort and care into making each food item delightfully flavorful. The espresso here is a kick in the teeth. Just like I like it. When I'm in the mood for something a little more decadent, they make a mean cappuccino, for which I'm very appreciative. Their tea selection is varied and intriguing. If you love to explore teas, or have a friend who loves their tea, bring them here! You won't be disappointed. Russel's Cream Ale. On tap. YES! Since it's located near the Law Courts and Douglas College, it gets packed during lunch times, so be aware of the notes posted about the place asking for your conscientiousness and patience. Any time I have friends in town to visit, I make them come here with me for lunches and meetings. Such a great little cafe. I'm looking forward to putting their patio to use once the weather gets better this spring. I'm truly sad that they're only open until 5pm, because I'd eat dinner here too if I could. read more

This is certainly off the beaten track for many of us. But this cafe is fresh, warm, and inviting (as their tag line tells you). There's some nice seating by the windows, as well as some lamp-lit corners. I didn't have any food. Just an iced latte and my friend a coffee. They advertise that they get their beans from Continental Coffee which is a perk in my opinion. The crowd here is mixed. There was a guy studying, a young family eating, and a girl on her cell phone. This cozy little place is a good stop for lunch or a tasty treat. Or to just come to hang out and have a coffee. The food is definitely worth coming in for; try out a panini or a soup and salad. Food is made in House and comes out fresh and delicious. The quiet and intimate setting works for me. The restaurant space feels and looks cluttered. If filed to capacity you might feel a little claustrophobic. Corners of the place can be filled with random pieces of equipment and supplies. This does distract from the overall appeal somewhat. Good location, good food. Worth the visit any day. read more

The coffee was ok, but the service was terrible. A mid/late-thirties asian woman who seemed to be the owner (the way she was being condescending to other staff was a hint) was rude to say the least. I ordered two coffees for my friend and I and during the transaction she made a couple of comments about having to break a $50 bill, no greeting, no thank you, no smile, no return from us. My friend waited by the coffee pick up area and had to ask for some foam to be scooped out and she gave him attitude as well. The kitchen/cooking area is also poorly ventilated since the entire establishment was overwhelmed with the smell of whatever they were recooking in the back. I've lived in the neighbourhood for over 4 years and had never given this place a chance. At least I know eliminated it as an option. Small business owners (and their staff) should be courteous and inviting to be set apart from chain/franchise competition. They fell way short of that at this place. read more

Great food and service. Opening at 9:00 am instead of 10:00 am on Saturday would be a nice change. Charging for coffee refills needs to stop. A bit too uncomfortably warm temperature wise inside to eat and drink and relax. Would like to see it a lot cooler inside, otherwise highly recommend this place. read more

I would recommend 1-1.5 pumps of liquid sugar (the barista helped me put it in so just ask!). The inside of the cafe was quite cute and they even had a little clothing rack selling second hand items like clothes and shoes! The space is quite big and spacious and has seating at the back as well and washrooms.

I would recommend this place if you want to try fufu and egusi but cannot eat too much spice. The smell when you enter this restaurant is amazing!
