Pit stop while exploring downtown & needed a pick-me-up. It's located at the beautiful historical Rosewood Hotel Georgia (worth taking a look at after to see the architecture). Matcha Latte (4/5) - Has a good earthy matcha flavor; you can taste the quality. Served hot with your choice of milk and decorated on top. Doesn't come sweetened which I wish I knew, so I could have it added on. Other than caffeinated drinks, they serve sandwiches/wraps, pastries, and desserts. Service was quick and friendly! The food and drinks here are top quality as far as coffee shop fare goes. They often have unique seasonal food and drinks. The sandwiches are delicious, filling, and interesting. They're made to order. For baked goods, the scone and plain croissants are good but not especially remarkable, but the desserts are very good and beautifully crafted. Great drinks too, both the coffee/tea and cold beverages. The food prices are notably higher than average for downtown cafes; I think sandwiches are like $16+ if I remember correctly. You get what you pay for but it's still enough that I come here for lunch as an occasional treat rather than a common thing. The baristas are generally friendly. Never too long of a wait for food when factoring in how busy they are. They do get busy and it's often loud inside, so I would not recommend coming here for long periods to do work, it's more of an coffee and chat place. read more

Located very centrally in downtown Vancouver, Bel Cafe is a 4min walk from Vancouver City Centre. It is a very cozy crazy in the hustle bustle of downtown. I went there on a weekday to get some work done and try their new vegan egg nog. I was pretty impressed by their vegan egg nog, or Vegnog as they call it. It was not as dense or thick as egg nog usually is, but the flavour was pretty similar. Also got their ham and cheese croissant which was pretty nice! It was crusty and cheesy. Their service was pretty fast. The prices were above the usual. I would go again to try some of their seasonal drinks! We came by for a quick weekday breakfast around 9:30 - the place was generally quite busywhile we were there, but there were usually a few tables free. I had a matcha latte - it was nice, but I found it to be a little bit weak (maybe a bit too much milk?) It was a fairly big cup and price point was good, so I was pretty happy with it overall. I also had the breakfast sandwich, which was very delicious. I liked that it was very light but filling - bacon wasn't very oily or heavy at all, the egg was very well cooked, and the greens were very fresh. All in al it was a rather nice meal; my only gripe was that the food took quite a while, so it might not be the best place if you're in a rush in the morning. A great spot to grab a coffee or latte or cold drink while shopping or grab lunch while downtown. It's in the Rosewood hotel Georgia and I had a coffee and a chicken salad croissant sandwich. So fresh and delicious and a nice place to hang out and take a break from shopping or when out an about downtown. This is probably one of the best coffee/tea spots in the area. As a Brit, take my tea seriously and the baristas here consistently do great job of brewing the perfect cup of black tea. I have also enjoyed the lattès here, and my spouse thoroughly enjoyed the Americanos. They have some very nice pastries and sandwiches as well. I especially like that they have gluten-free options. This cafe as I understand it is, is part of a swanky downtown hotel. It's elegant in a simple sort of way. It is small and quiet and I almost past by without going in but I back tracked a little. I decided why not see if they could whip me up a soy chai latte. It cost $7.50 and the medium cup looked more like a small. The service was okay. My drink tasted pretty good. Went for the hot chocolate festival 2020. Got the mount doom $8 Consists of 70% Valrhona Guanaja dark chocolate, guajillo chili, dark chocolate whip, aerated chocolate and volcanic black salt. Served with a black macaron. Seems pricey for a hot chocolate, but honestly, it was a great treat to splurge on. Every part of it tasted really good. I REALLY liked the black salt on top; they didn't over do it. The little cookie/cake pieces on top were really good too! I bought one slice of Parisian Vanilla Flan to try. The flan is similar to New Town Bakery 'Egg Pie" and the Egg Pie is better than this flan. The vote from my Sleeping Beauty: She said the macarons are as good as Bottega Louie, but not as good as Laduree in France. I have never been to France, but I have had the Laduree macarons at Charles de Gaulle Airport and they are excellent. I didn't get to try these macarons :-( The muffin was pretty good. Cute little cafe in the Hotel Georgia. They serve decent coffee and lots of yummy looking food. I've only tried the macarons, which were pretty good. Watch out if you can only drink skim milk though. Always a great place to stop and relax with some hot chocolate, coffee or snack. The usual crowds are the business people working around there so me in my lululemon hoodie and jeans, I stick out a little. But that's alright, I'm just being me. I went here for the hot chocolate festival and had the peppermint patty. It was good, not too sweet and just enough mint flavour. Some places overpower the chocolate with mint but Bel Cafe has it just right. I did go just before lunch so I also ordered the Grilled Chicken Banh Mi. It may be a bit more expensive ( $10 ) but it was delicious. The chicken was moist, the sauce was flavorful and the jalapeno gave it just enough kick that I would have ordered another. The staff are great: very polite, smiles on their face, and seems to always be having a good time. Chad ( I think the manager of Hawksworth ) was there and is super friendly and will chat with you if him and you have time. Not the fake chat that you might get from other places but you feel like he's interested and he will joke around with you. I love the food served at Hawksworth and I expect no less of Bel Cafe, which is pretty much David Hawksworth's bakery, located right across the hall. Anyways, I've only sample a few items at Bel Cafe and I've never actually sat down here for a meal. I can only review their cookies, cakes, pastries and macarons so perhaps I'll update my review when I get to try their sandwiches and soups someday! Anyways, I would say that Bel Cafe serves extremely high quality baked goods and many of their items are my favourite in their corresponding categories. First of all, I would say that their Valrhona Dark Chocolate Chunk cookie is probably one of the best cookies that I've ever had in my life! It's definitely the best dark chocolate cookie that I have ever eaten and I would probably order it more often if it weren't almost three dollars. Their Hazelnut Breton cookie is also excellent and their macarons are superb. Their desserts are also very indulgent but they are also light enough to eat after a heavy meal. My favourite would be the dark chocolate raspberry cake, which is a very simple but delicious cake made out of very high quality ingredients. The mousse like dark chocolate inside is perfectly complemented by the tartness of the raspberries, and is made with the perfect amount of sugar and cream so it isn't too thick nor too sweet. In general, I feel like the quality of all the products served at Bel Cafe is extremely high quality except that they could probably work on their croissants a bit more. The first time I ordered their chocolate croissant, I was actually not too impressed and ended up focusing on my dark chocolate cookie. I gave the croissant a second chance and I still was not very happy with it, but it was still good! I still feel like nothing can beat the croissants at L'Opera Patisserie in Richmond, but that could just be me! I also love Faubourg's pistachio croissant! :) read more

This is a cute little cafe that's located inside of Rosewood Hotel Georgia! My review is based off of their macarons! Maybe more of just plain vanilla. Cassis: OMG the best cassis I've ever had. Words cannot explain. Very rich in flavor. At first I wasn't sure if it was cassis or something else. But it was sure dang good! Cookies n creme: this does not taste like cookies and creme at all. I have no idea what it taste like but deff not what it's suppose to be. Dark chocolate: taste more like regular chocolate. It's very lite! Not your typical dark rich flavor. Raspberry: very fruity and tarty! The ones I would purchase over again would be coconut, carrot cake, cassis. At 2$ each. They're very reasonable. Especially for the location and the size of the macarons. Minimal filling that tastes alright, I think you could call it cultural appropriation when they rehash a budget friendly meal as a high class sandwich? On a positive note, very nice fresh cilantro. Had a dickie's ginger beer and my friend had a kombucha. I later returned for an iced coffee which was fairly good. You can either choose to order from the bar or sit at a table and get waiter service. I decided to sit down this time since I wanted to do some work on my laptop. They have a good selection of different types of drinks ranging between coffees, teas, and even wine. They have a small food menu including a few sandwiches, salads and soups. All of them looked yummy, but I decided to choose the quinoa and kale. It comes with goat cheese on top, which was my selling point. I came in closer to closing time, so it wasn't as busy, but I can definitely see how it gets really busy during the day since it's in a very central area downtown, and it's fairly small with limited tables.
