They all look hardly worn, which is thpi the case with newborn and toddler clothes because they grow so fast, they aren't wearing items multiple times. it's for this reason, I highly recommend buying second hand. while I don't have grandchildren, many of my friends do so while I'm at this little strip mall going to While Foods, I do a quick stop into the Beanstalk to see what is available. In addition to clothes, they have books, toys, shoes, and even some movie DVDs. The tiny store is well organized. I've shopped at Beanstalk for years and have always appreciated having a local children's resale option, which is why this is disappointing to write. Recently, the customer experience has shifted in a way that feels noticeably less accommodating and more rigid. On one visit, I arrived just a few minutes past the posted consignment drop-off time--with a large bag of items--and was turned away without any flexibility. As a mom juggling kids and schedules, that kind of all-or-nothing response felt unnecessarily inflexible and not very aligned with the realities of the customers they serve. There was also a separate incident involving an item that was handled in a way that felt lacking in communication and follow-through, which added to the overall frustration. As someone who works in sales and customer service, I fully understand the importance of policies--but also the importance of discretion, tone, and making customers feel valued. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my recent experience. I hope there's a return to the more customer-focused experience this store used to provide. read more

The shop worker was extremely helpful and friendly. The shop is packed floor to ceiling with merchandise, however, everything is easy to find, organized, categorized and placed with purpose. What a carefully curated shop. You won't find any junk here. This is a great place to find boots, sports equipment, cleats and those other items that you hate to buy new . read more

Pretty dang good finds here at times, clothes arent ever our style (h&m is king) toys arent what we usually play with... but gems are here, some shoes, some books, some movies. Today we scored some great dvds... yeah we still get dvds, but only for kids. Kids dvds are a good time for all. read more

I've gone to this location several times and each time I've left happy. This is the place to go for gently used kids clothes, toys, and books. As an Aunt with one niece, one nephew, and another niece or nephew on the way this place is a gem. Nothing is ever grimy or worn out and the prices are pretty reasonable. I always find the best items. The customer service/selection is also always fabulous. Would recommend 10/10. read more

I was attempting to sell of some clothing that my daughter outgrew before she even got a chance to wear them. The clothing still had tags on them. Beanstalk is a nice store for mainly the infant to toddler crowd. There's not a big selection for a six year old and slightly older. The catch is they sell for the next season. I brought in clothing for the summer and they are only taking back to school and fall clothing. Oh well, next time I will know. read more

Yikes! I was shopping here with son last week, and was not-so-subtly accused of shoplifting. While my toddler son was trying on some rain boots, the store employee, (unbeknownst to me) picked up my son's shoes and took them behind the counter. When I asked her about them in an attempt to retrieve them, she rudely demanded to know where the boots that my son had tried on earlier were while she dangled my son's shoes in front of her accusingly. I was kind of stunned. I turned my head and pointed to the boots he had tried on...which were back on the shelf right where I got them from, about 6 inches from my head. She fumbled, obviously embarrassed and shoved my son's shoes back to me. Definitely won't be patronizing this place again! read more

Really great place to get second hand kids and baby stuff. The inside is really classy and well organized-the most appealing inside of any of the consignment stores. I like the one on Stark more because it has more space and a great kid play area. read more

I have never been able to go into this place because I am usually wandering to Whole Foods at 9pm or stopping by the ATM for some quick cash...but on Sunday, I noticed it was open and stopped in. [note: I'm NOT a mom...just an aunt.] I thought this place had some great clothes for fair prices...the shoes seemed a little beat up for the prices, and the puzzle/book selection was actually pretty awesome! I love this little shop. I never leave without buying something, as their goods are always in really great shape, and they have a great array. I've also consigned with them... they make it really easy, and are very fair with the split. You can also choose to donate things that they choose not to offer, so that's convenient! They merchandise really well, so things are well organized and easy to find. I run into friends while shopping, and my kids love it. It's the perfect neighborhood shop! read more

The store was an absolute mess - stuff all over the floor - and no one could be bothered to acknowledge customers... but worse? The prices were OUTRAGEOUS. Clearly being that this is Irvington, they think that selling a used plastic bouncer for $110 is a great deal. Saw this and the other prices for baby equipment and walked out as this place was way too bougie. read more

I want to love this place but they make it impossible to consign. I have tried dropping off goods (7) times in the past 18 months without luck. If you are a busy working parent like me then consign elsewhere. There are only (3) days a month that I can go for drop-offs - the first three Saturdays of the month. Am I the only one with a million other commitments on Saturdays? It's tough to coordinate the right season of clothes on top of the small window of drop-off times. The one time I was there on the right day of week, month and season, they were short staffed and overwhelmed and couldn't take my stuff. I can't win! Very frustrating. read more

Only giving this one star so I can post this review. I've never received service worse, especially in a store as small and personal as this. I walked in with my mom and baby, and was ignored completely by the salesgirl. We do not expect to be followed or waited on, but a simple acknowledgement of our presence would have sufficed. It was extremely awkward to be ignored in such a small place, especially given how the salesgirl went out of her way to converse with the other (white) couple in the store. It was clear that our presence as people of color made her uncomfortable. I will never come here again, and would advise any person of color to steer clear! No need to patronize racist businesses, especially given the amount of lovely shop owners/workers in the area! read more

New and great! Clean, shiny, fresh feel to a consignment shop, with a few carefully chosen locally made toys, like Green Blocks, refurbished hardwoods with a baby-safe finish. They take specific brands for clothes. They also have lots of extra gear, like portable sleep options, diapers, toys, books, and carriers. I wandered into this place when it first opened because it was conveniently located next to Whole Foods and I was expecting twins at the time. The signage was cute and the layout of the store was appealing. Now every time I go grocery shopping, I wind up in here and buying something cute for my little ones. I think the owner of the store is a woman I usually see ringing up my purchases. She's incredibly friendly and I think has a good thing going. Quality consignment kids clothing and toys and equipment can be found here. Since I have two and kids grow out of things so quickly, it's nice to have a place to get brands like BabyGap and Hanna Andersson without spending an arm and a leg. I've usually been able to find items for $3-7, including desses and sweaters, that are hardly worn. I haven't signed up to be a consigner yet but I will soon as my kids begin to grow out of their clothes and toys and gear. Great family owned business! read more

This is my favorite baby resale store in town. They have a smaller selection than other stores, but make sure to provide great quality and good selection. The biggest reason I shop here is more because of their amazing customer service. Shoshana (probably spelled wrong) always remember me, my friend and our babies. She always has great suggestions of the things she knows I would love, but never in a pushy way. I hardly ever spend money on baby items. I really love digging in all the baskets and shelves for surprises. Their prices are fair and they have a private lot. Conveniently located In between Starbucks and Whole Foods. I buy gifts for other friends here and will continue to support this small locally owned business...that has fantastic taste. read more

Took my neice to a tattoo appointment on Fremont and we stumbled upon this little gem after parking in the Whole Foods parking lot. Lots of GREAT items, oh goodness, there was cuteness galore! Lots of selection, lots of shoes, clithes, swim gear, baby gear, toys, LOTS of stuff. For being such a small area, it is amazingly organized. Now, I gave a 4 star rating due to pricing. Yes, I scored a cute pop up play tent for $10, but $12-$14 bucks for kids shoes is too much for me. Even with their tag sale with discounts of 15%-30% that's still a bit steep, even if the merchandise is in good condition. I more than likely will drop by and shop again though! read more

I consigned shortly before moving. The ladies at the Fremont store were very helpful and told me that they work with people often who are moving and need to consign. After the consignment period was over, I was told checks were mailed to me. I did not receive them. After alerting the company of this a few times, the owner, Carmen, reached out to me and told me that she was sorry for the "inconvenience in the mail system". She asked me to wait a month and if the checks did not arrive that she would re-issue the checks minus a $30 check cancellation fee for each check. She then tells me to check with the post office regarding the missing mail. I asked what the tracking number was or any information regarding the mailed checks so that I had something to go by when I did go to the post office (especially since I had no other missing mail...) She did not respond. I then asked her for her written policy regarding the $30 fee per check and she did not respond. Carmen finally did respond about a month later --after I threatened to file a small claims suit as well as file a complaint with BBB--and sent the full amount the day of my email. Overall take - the retail staff is nice. The owner's actions/ lack of action were terribly unprofessional and foolish. read more

Beanstalk is my favorite children's re-sale shop in Portland...I ALWAYS find a treasure or two, or three!! The owner, Carmen, is the sweetest, most friendly woman you will ever meet!! And her staff are also genuine and wonderful as well (just like Carmen). :) Beanstalk has a wonderful selection of gently used clothing, shoes, hats, accessories, baby gear,toys, books and puzzles. I love shopping at consignment stores, especially for children - who wants to pay a ton of money for something the kiddos are going to outgrow in 6 months? Beanstalk is my favorite kid's store in town, both as a shopper and a consignor. They have a great selection of cute clothes and gear, and the staff is really helpful and knowledgeable about the items in the store at any given moment. I've been able to call ahead a bunch of times when I needed something specific - snow boots for a trip up to Mt. Hood, for example - and they are always happy to hold things for me. I was getting a little sad because my girls are hitting the upper age range of the clothing selection at the Fremont store (my oldest is 7 1/2) but happily Beanstalk opened a second store in Montavilla - even closer to my house - with clothes for older kids, too. Both stores are a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out. read more
