I stopped here during a day of window shopping on Alberta. This was one of our first stops and it did not disappoint. They have really cute items. Clothes and hair clips galore. A lot of sticker and earring. Fun hats (mostly trucker hates , but a few beanies as well. And lots of kitschy Knick knacks and socks! I bought a few greeting cards and a sticker. I had such a fantastic time looking around in Frock. I'm such a sticker lover, and there were SO many good ones to choose from. I ended up buying 2 and they let my friend and I each get a Frock sticker. Some items were super reasonable, and others we didn't quite understand the price - almost $40 for a plain trucker hat with a heart on it left us a little stumped, but we appreciated the availability of plus size clothing as well! The lady who helped us out at the register was so friendly, I assume she was maybe the owner. I LOVE Frock Boutique and stop there every time I'm in Portland. One of my favorite breakfast spots is right across the street and when you walk out the door and follow the rainbow, the rainbow leads to Frock! Frock has just about something for everyone, but what I especially love are the offerings if you are a Dolly Parton or Rainbow Bright fan. What a fun, quirky store! Hard to miss when driving on NE Alberta with the rainbow painted sidewalk, aqua blue house with colorful lantern lights decorating the pagoda. Oh, and the bright turquoise bicycle bike rack out front! All this going on before you walk up the steps and into the store! This store is mesmerizing! Packed with a huge variety of gift items, some random, some common, either way give yourself time to take it all in! Scented soaps, socks with funny sayings, kids clothing, whimsical cell phone cases, cards, scarves, totes, t-shirts and more. Laughing out loud is common and encouraged! As the name suggests, they have a surprisingly large variety of women's clothing in all sizes and seems to be a combo of local designers and name brands, like Desiguel (one of my faves.) I particularly loved the maxi dresses! So colorful and vibrant. They also have shoes and accessories making it easy to style an entire outfit. Of course they also have the whimsical pieces like clothing adorned with cats or unicorns if that's your thing. It's challenging to leave empty handed even if you walk in without any specific purpose. It's just that kind of store! Easy to find gifts for anyone in your list or for yourself. Right now during Pandemic, they are using all the precautions - hand sanitizer, masks, limiting customers - and having an incredible sale!!! Staff was super friendly and helpful. I was approaching the end of my travels to Portland and with it came a growing need to take a souvenir home. I checked out the Alberta Arts District and discovered Frock boutique. When describing the shop, two words come to mind. Cute and offbeat, much like the rest of Portland. Their fashion forward collection carries styles right up my alley. Most of the brands they offer are mix of local and international lines. They're a one stop shop for women's clothes, shoes, makeup, and accessories. Additionally, they stock small housewares, bath soaps, and baby apparel. As I was browsing through the racks, a cat tee shirt caught my eye and pulled on my heart strings. I am a fond lover of cats and a proud guardian of one! The kind sales lady behind the counter noticed my interest in the tee and opened up a changing room. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I appreciate Frock's ability to supply a range of sizes suitable for all body types. I'm 5'3 and it's difficult to find clothes that fit right. I didn't find that an issue here. Frock knocked my socks off. Shopping for a baby shower puts me totally out of my element. Thank God for registries. And onesies. A Yelp thread and a recommendation on there by Lori F. saved me. That's how I found Frock. I sort of had the idea that Frock would be a baby store but nope, there is super cute, one-of-a-kind grown up stuff too. I spent quite a while pawing through lots of really unique jewelry, hair accessories and cute clothes. There is of course a nice little section for babies. That's where I found two tiny tees. My pal is having twin girls. These lovely little tees are fortune telling tees that are all wrapped up like a fortune cookie with the child's future contained within. Even I don't even know what I bought. Am I responsible for how these children turn out because I bought the shirts? Am I just the oracle? I'm pretty sure Elizabeth isn't superstitious. read more

What the Frock? I feel like I'm the Little Mermaid...singing my queries about how many wonders one cavern can hold... (too much??) because Frock was simply amazing. Stephy S went into instant deal-radar mode and scoped out an amazing jacket, I of course went towards the jewels (Look Laura, something shiny!) and ended up with some bling for dang near every body part. The shop is very small but packs quite a punch - you can find anything from local print tees to headbands and handbags. All right, the award for quite possibly the worst service experience I've had goes to Frock. I was in there earlier browsing around with my girlfriend when I commented on how much I liked the music choice to the person working the register. Apropos of nothing, the person at the register chimes in to tell me that "you don't look like much of a spender, anyway!" Was she assuming that I'm poor? Or was she joking that I'm cheap? Unclear. If it was intended to be funny, it failed pretty miserably. If the goal was to drive me out of the store, well, mission accomplished. It's a shame, because my girlfriend loves the stuff here, and whatever the staff's thoughts on the matter, I do still buy her Christmas and birthday presents. But Portland doesn't really want for cute boutiques, so I'll find somewhere else to shop. read more

I hate shopping. I hate shopping because for most of my life, it's been difficult to find clothes that fit my rubenesque figure. I also generally hate shopping in boutiques because when I take my chunky, full-figured frame into a "boutique," the too skinny-flat chested bitches behind the counter look at me like I'm crazy to even cross the threshold. The unstated message is "we do not sell clothing for fat girls like you." Frock is anthesis of the snooty boutique experience. It stocks real-life size clothing that fits my frame, which ranges from a size 10-16, depending on the consistency in which I drown my sorrows in ice cream and the availability of Mad Men or True Blood series on DVD. Of all the items of clothing in my wardrobe, my Frock inventory is among my most highly complemented items of clothing. Their selection is saucy, savvy and super sexy. They also sell pieces I haven't seen in any other shop in Portland -- their buyers have an eye for style and are looking for unique lines that look good on all kinds of bodies. The prices mean that every item I buy is an investment, but an investment in which I the goods that drape my buxom booty look super fine. read more

Everytime I'm in this part of town, I absolutely have to stop in. It's a small shop that stocks items I can normally only find online or in larger cities like New York! However it does have a good mix of local items as well so it's the best of both worlds. The shop is curated very well and one of the fun parts of being in the store is that it's a huge self esteem booster. Try it! When you're not having a good day, go in a try on a fab pair of heels or a beautiful dress. The women working and the fellow shoppers are a wonderful support group with compliments! You can't help but feel HAPPY walking in the store and leaving regardless if you buy something or not. This store is super duper cute. I love Alberta Street, however I sometimes find that it caters more to the granola types of girls as far as fashion goes. I am ashamed to say that I only just visited Frock for the first time this weekend. What an amazing find! They had an outstanding selection of dresses and jewelry in all different price ranges. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they carry dresses from Effies Heart, which is a great (and affordable) dress brand. The really special part about my visit to Frock was the service. I came with my friend and her two young daughters. The little ones were high-energy and goofy, and the woman working there was so generous and so patient with having kids in the store! I come here at least once a week with my daughter. She is two yrs old and we LOVE helping her "find the baby" a little doll that the store owner bids. The staff are so nice! Portland, Frock Yeah! This boutique shines even among the kicky shops along Alberta. Some of the clothing will break your heart though, luring you in and then teasing you with its price tag. But fear not, there are plenty of other cute accessories and trinkets to keep you and your pockets happy. Most of the funky boutiques that have opened up on Alberta in the last few years just don't appeal to me. Mind you, I like poking my head in the window and looking at the dresses, but, well, once I see the price tag I end up getting a little depressed. For this reason I avoided going in to Frock for nearly two years. This weekend, during an afternoon stroll, the socks on the mannequins were too great a temptation to resist, and I finally caved. I have to say I was impressed. The store sells a number of items designed and handmade by local folks, as well as an impressive selection of vintage garments -- from lingerie to goofy Marcia Brady-style dresses. Prices on all items are comparable to retail (think $20-$40 for a dress), though understandably the vintage items are a bit cheaper. After purchasing a cute pair of over-the-knee socks I took notice of some for-sale artwork on the wall, and the wide selection of both vintage and handmade jewelry just blew my mind. Frock is what a neighborhood clothing store should be -- some old, funky things, some handmade things, and nothing too outrageously priced or pretentious. read more

I went to Frock this afternoon, just like I have on many afternoons, but today I felt the need to share why I just love everything about Frock. Anytime I need a present for one of my rad friends I just stroll down lovely Alberta St. and walk into Frock and there it is! THE perfect gift! It always happens. The girls that work there are so helpful and sweet. The lady that I normally talk to (the one with the sassy glasses ;) ) always has such great knowledge about were things come from and has so many ideas on gift giving. Great shop! Surprising quantity and variety of goods strategically placed in a small space. Every time I turned around I saw something else to catch my eye. In the end I left with a poncho and a wallet for me and a pair of earrings for a friend with a birthday coming up. Prices were in line with the merchandise being offered.
