January 14 was a day my grandson and I were looking forward to…read more We had plans to go to the Lakeshore Learning Store. Lakeshore was doing a "science day". Parents, Grandparents and Friends , I want to tell you, we had a blast !!! We spent about two hours at the event We made slime, dug for dinosaurs and learned about bugs. We took our time going from station to station and loved every minute of it. The employees were unbelievable with the way they treated everyone. Each station worker explained how the things we did were done . Did I say we had a blast ! lol To my surprise as we did each station, No one pressured me/us to buy anything! Seriously! I have to say that that was very refreshing! Part of my Grammy / Grandson adventure to Lakeshore was a gift card to my Grandson for a Christmas gift.. When my daughter suggested adventures for Christmas gifts, I didn't realize that she was giving me a gift to. My gift was seeing how much my Grandson loved the Lakeshore Science event. His gift was learning and having fun . Of course he enjoyed spending his gift card after we had a marvelous time. Thank you to all the wonderful people who made our Grammy/Grandson adventure special. I know these stores are privately owned and I wanted to shop there for that reason. I asked the girl a question and got an unfriendly attitude. I got the vibe that she was annoyed to be working. I went for an infant toy and the selection for infants was very low. I drove an hour to get to this store and it was not worth the trip. I guess I'll be ordering from Amazon after all.

Plenty of soft stuffed animals and even some penny candy (well now 35 cents lol) It was cute to see kids coming in by themselves or with their gramps to pick out toys. It just makes you feel like it's a safe place. And almost brings you back in time that kids just showing up at the toy store to browse or buy themselves little things. Dick was who helped give me some advice on some toys and was so very friendly. He even offered to gift wrap the toy I picked out and it looks adorable. Though the prices were a little higher than what you would get on amazon for the same or similar item it's a better feeling knowing your supporting local and keeping them in business!

My tween and his friends recently stopped in after a very hard day at school (bomb threat) and was warmly greeted by these kind souls. They had several board and card games open and encouraged the kids to try them out. We went back later to buy a few things, but it was clear that there was no obligation to buy. The enthusiasm and expertise of these wonderful employees can't be overstated. Perhaps they knew that the kids in our neighborhood were stressed out that day and needed some innocent fun; perhaps not.

The fabulous display continues throughout the store, creating a very enjoyable shopping experience. The selection of clothing, books and toys are well curated for ages ranging newborn to small children. I had a lovely chat with the owner who was both friendly and helpful with my shopping needs. She let me know about a clothing sale they were having and provided fun facts about the books I was browsing. (Local authors sold here) I was pleased to see good Spanish book options, and ended up purchasing one as a gift. Many of the items here seemed to be "earth friendly", made with good materials at a reasonable price. I will be back to shop for gifts in the future!

Staff is knowledgeable and happy to share information and advice. They have plastic and metal soldiers for war games, painting, collecting, dioramas, or just for fun.
