I visited about a week ago for my mother's birthday to participate in the candle-making class. The actual candle-making experience was enjoyable, and we had a great time during the class. At the end of the session, we were told the candles would take about two hours to set. However, we were also informed that they would be closed on Monday, so we stayed in contact throughout the week to coordinate a pickup. Unfortunately, we've attempted to pick up our candles on three separate occasions, and each time the business was closed. I also reached out via email and never received a response. After multiple attempts with no communication and no way to retrieve the candles we paid to make, the experience became very frustrating. While the class itself was fun, not receiving the finished product completely changed my overall impression. It felt very unprofessional and, honestly, a bit scammy. My cousin booked a candle-making event for her birthday the day before the 4th of July, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. From the moment I walked in, I had concerns. When we arrived, there was only one employee working. The lighting was very dim, there was little to no air conditioning, and although the music selection was good, it was much too loud. The appearance of the first staff member was not professional, and about 30 minutes later another employee arrived looking as though she had just woken up from a nap. Our candle-making class started late because the staff seemed disorganized. Several guests ordered food and drinks, and the drinks took an extremely long time to arrive. When I ordered food, no one informed me that I would have to wait until after the candle class was over to receive it. Ironically, the only food allowed in the room was food brought in from outside the establishment. During the class, the room was hot, dark, and even had a broken bar stool. The instructor often stood 5-6 feet away from the table and provided very little hands-on guidance. Most of the engagement came from the participants rather than the staff. Booked a candle session over 3 months ago for a group of 10. Spoke with Valencia the day before our event to confirm everything. We get there the day of just to find out that the location is temporarily closed. We are told we need to instead go all the way to Mercedes Benz stadium to a temporary location. We spent over 45 minute stuck in traffic to get there just to learn there is no reservation. Valencia never communicated that we had a booking with this temp company who was overbooked and then Valencia would not answer and the phone number provided was disconnected. I loved my experience at the candle making class! My friend and I dropped by on a Saturday to try a new activity. As soon as we walked in, there was a nice aroma in the air and tons of unique (both in looks and smells) candles everywhere. Our class started right on time, and the instructor guided us throughout the process. It was so much fun exploring the vast range of essential oils to find the best combination for my candle. I eventually settled on Pink Grapefruit and Lemon. After mixing the oils with liquid wax, we left the store and returned two hours later to pick up our candles once they were more solid. I have always wanted to go support this black-owned business and have even referred people there even though I had not been there. Well a friend and I decided to book a candle making class on 5/18/25 and we were giddy about it. Welp, late Saturday evening we received an email stating that our reservations were cancelled followed by another email that there was some sort of safety issue and that is why. The entire situation was a cluster bleep of back and forth emails of explanations and of course some very unhappy customers. They referred all of our names etc to another candle company but evidently the entire process of communication between all was a huge FIASCO and unprofessional. I still have not received my refund even though I have called several times and emailed. Next step will be to my bank to get my hard earned moolah back and given to a well deserved, more professional business that understands the importance of making sure your customers are taken care of and communicating effectively. The candle making class was such a great experience! The business is owned by two sisters and their brother. It's located in Little 5 Points next to Abbadabba's. I made reservations previously, but overheard that they take walks ins for the classes as well. The classes are $35 per person. The shop sells a few different candle brands as well as their own signature candles and items such as candle accessories soaps, oils etc. We sat at large table with other groups for the class. You get to choose two scents for your candle. They have a large selection of fragrances to choose from. The instructor was easy to follow and she guided us every step of the way. The class went by fairly quickly. We were given stickers to place on our candles and we were able to name them. The candles need two hours to solidify, so if you go to a late class you'll have to pick up the candle at a later date. We really enjoyed ourselves and the staff was very helpful. I loved the personalized elements of being able to choose various scents and naming your candle. You can bring your own wine and you'll get %20 percent off of items in the store when you attend the class. read more

I was in the neighborhood and saw the sign for beeswax candles, so I decided to stop in. They had a few small ones (not in jars) and tapers. They had mostly soy/coconut blend. There was a candle making class going on when I was there. I bought some of the sale (40%off) candles which were just leftovers from the class that students didn't come back to pick up. I still thought they were pricey, but I was already committed. If you want authentic candles and other products, this is a great shop, but be ready with your $$. read more

We had a great time here. I took my god-daughter to one of the candle making classes and she loved it. The directions were easy to follow. I had the hardest time finding a scent I liked. I ended up with an alright combination but it doesn't move me like pre made candles I've had in the past. It's me though...I know what I don't like...there were sooo many choices but I still couldn't find one I loved. The lady running the class was very patient and tried to help me. I would try again but I need to come super early so I can take my time and find the perfect scent. I haven't picked the candles up yet. Online I thought I read they needed an hour to set so we were going to stay close and eat then go back but it's two hours. I was not able to wait two hours. I'll pick it up tomorrow. This was such a cute experience!! I found Bear and Honey, a black-owned business, while looking for a date night experience for my boyfriend and me. Located in Little Five Points, it's pretty easy to find the storefront but definitely not a ton of parking so be prepared. There's a couple public parking lots (one down the road by Hattie Bs for $10, one behind for $20), but we managed to find parking in residential areas down the street. Once there, you check in and have a seat at either the table in the back or countertop (depending on class size and what's clean). First, you pick out your 2 scents to mix and there were a LOT. I had a hard time choosing so our instructor helped recommend me a pairing. (Our favorites: the coffeehouse and vanilla and the alpine mountain honey and jasmine!). Next, the instructors walk you through getting your jar set up, mixing your scent oils into the wax, pouring it into your jar and decorating. In total, the class took about 30-45 minutes and then they ask you to come back in about 1.5-2 hours. They offer a 20% discount on anything in the store if you take a class so we bought a few more candles (they even let us stack the discount on their clearance items AND they held on to our purchases so we didn't have to carry them around!) After, there's plenty to do around Little Five Points so we walked around shops and had a happy hour. When we came back for pickup, the staff wrapped our candles very cute and neatly (perfect to immediately give as a gift if you want!). Overall a 10/10 experience, and HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for something fun to do in Atlanta!! read more

If olfactory sensations came with sound, there would have been a very large WHAM when I walked in the room. The scents coming at you are an assault. WHAM! A wall of scents. And you go face-first into it. Which struck me as weird, since you need to be able to smell other things to make your candle, one wonders why the entire place is scented to the point of sensory overload. (Plus, the smell of this place, while not unpleasant, stayed with me for several hours until I took a shower. It's in my clothes eight hours later. Weird.) PLUS, there's music and a certain hustle and bustle that did not make for a polite, meditative experience that I thought I'd find when thinking about candles. And I get it. They're trying to make this a hip, cool thing to do, and I think they've succeeded. But when I think of candles, I think of quiet times--a polite scene that might involve wine and some romance--not Busta bustin' in the background. Still, the candle class with my friends was fun. The class itself is a really decent value. But if you have any experience with any kind of crafting, you're going to be bored. At one point I wanted them to just give me free rein with my candle. I also thought there would be more color involved in the creation of these candles. But no. Just scents. WHAM WHAM WHAM! It took a couple of hours for the candle to cure. I came here with my mom and sister last weekend to make candles. Fun and interesting experience. We were actually a little late due to getting stuck in traffic and I was afraid they wouldn't let us participate because we were outside of the grace period, but we were greeted when we walked in and seated right away. Our instructor/candle helper, Kiya, graciously moved back and forth between our table and the other patrons who were also making candles at the other table. Somehow when we came back to pick up our candles, I found out once we got home and smelled them, that I had been given someone else's candle by accident. I called B&H and explained what happened, and Kiya was very polite and helpful about it! She offered to remake the candle with the scents I chose, and I came by to pick it up the next day. Thank you Kiya for being so kind and attentive! I'm not sure if I'm spelling Kiya right lol sorry The small downside I must mention is that there is no public restroom for customers so pee before you arrive. Lol. I telework one day a week; it's the worst. I'm just not the biggest fan of the virtual meetings, the irritating blend of personal and professional time. It's nice to have boundaries you know? Anyway, once I realized that the world was going to be like this for a while, I bought a nicer desk, got my workspace zen going a little. This means that I've gotten into candles. I'm not one of those aromatherapy evangelists or anything, but it does help my focus to light one up at my desk while working. It's a good aesthetic, so relaxing. I'm always looking for a candle that smells nice without breaking the bank. I trundled into B&H the other day, after checking out the website. First thing I noticed: no wall of nasty mixed smells like when you go to the candle store at the mall. It was very pleasant inside. Probably very well ventilated. There were loads of display items and some testing vials to check out the store's smell blends. I noticed a large table at the back for hosting make-your-own-candle parties. That sounds fun, I thought. There are some candles for sale that are sculpted into realistic shapes like birthday cakes, beer glasses, other stuff. Anyway, a staff member helped me dig around for something nice. I picked a smallish jar of "Black Sea", which has been occupying my desk for a few days. It's masculine and clean at the same time, so not one of those lame cigar-and-musk bombs like from the other places that sell candles for manly men. I wanted to smell like tobacco, I would light a cigarette, you know? So, I really dig this new candle. I would however start placing scent descriptions on the webpage. Some of the scents are creatively named, but without basic descriptions it's left to the reader to interpret. I was willing to go into the store to try out things personally, others may not be. For my friend's birthday, we went to this candle shop in ATL that offered a candle making class ! You just need to sign up and pay online for a class. When I first entered the shop, I thought I entered a bakery... because they had candles that literally looked cupcakes and desserts. I was so confused for a second LOL, but it was so cool. The candle making class took about 30-45 min or so. The instructor was very nice and patient with everyone. They had plenty of scents to choose from, which was fun hehe. It was an awesome experience with my friends. FYI, you will need to leave your candles to dry for at least 2 hours. So if you choose a class around the time they close, you will need to come back another day so just plan accordingly ! For parking, there's parking right behind the building and you just need to walk up the hill and walk to the store. It was free parking on Sunday! Not sure if it's free on other days. This was my Valentine's Day outing this year ! And I think this was the absolute cutest place. We arrived mid week on a Thursday with no reservation - he did call and make sure they were offering the classes as walk ins. I was surprised so I had no parts in the planning. We were greeted immediately and walked around the facility. They offer a lot of honey products and a lot of different candle crafts and candle type products. Maya I believe her name was hosted our class. She was very nice and inventive. She explained to us the idea of the business. And a little more information about candle products maintenance and ingredients. It was us and one more couple so the class setting was intimate but it made it semi private. I loved that they have many scents to pick from explain what ideas might go together and help you create your fragrance for your candle. We upgraded our candle base from the standard jar to a different type off candle jar. I can't give a price as I didn't pay but it was a great experience. They have so many different unique candles. They do offer refills once your candle buns out. It's located diagonal from the vortex at little five points. Right in the center of little five points a great area for this business. I will tell everyone about it . It was a great gem nestled in one of the large traffic areas in Atlanta ! Take your significant other and go !!! Side note when you d the candle marking class they do allow u t bring wine or beverages while you make our candle. Wanted to love this candle store but it seems sketchy to me that almost everything premade in the store has no price stickers or price tags on them. And when I went to checkout at the register, the customer can't see what numbers are being entered for the prices, which is another red flag. I was really overcharged on the items I bought that WERE labeled- they didn't match ANY of the price labels and were up to 50% higher than listed! They also don't have a way to print itemized receipts so you can't tell what each item costs until the texted receipt makes it to your phone after you leave the store. And the way the checking out process unfolded you're encouraged to tip high amounts even if you just came to buy premade items. Loved the candles, but HATED the deceptive price gauging. read more
