Bear and Honey Candle - My candle creation

    Bear and Honey Candle

The selection was clearly presented, and the fragrances were easy to evaluate without feeling rushed. The staff answered questions in a measured and informative manner. My visit occurred during a busier hour of the day.

I came here for a birthday/girls day out after researching the experience beforehand. We saw that…read morethe candle-making class was $45 per person and thought it would be a fun, local activity to try. We had an appointment for 12pm on a Saturday. Overall, the concept is great, the facility is beautiful, and the candles are decent, but the logistics and communication need a lot of improvement. The space itself is really cute. The bar area, candle-making setup, and rustic feel all create a nice atmosphere. The candle-making area was clean and comfortable, and I liked that we were able to choose our own scents. That said, the actual candle-making portion only took about 15 minutes, which felt short for the price. We also were not given the option to choose which jar we wanted to use, and there were no stickers in stock for labeling or decorating the candles, we ended up having to write on the brand sticker with sharpie which doesn't look polished. I haven't burned mine yet, but my friend said hers burned into a crater in the middle, so do with that what you will. The bigger issue was the overall logistics. The location was hard to find, and Google Maps directed us to the area near Honey Baked Ham. When we tried calling, the phone was "not accepting calls," so we had no way to get help finding the place. When we arrived, we were the only guests there. We noticed there was no bartender and asked about it, only to be told that "the cook was out of town," which meant there was no food or drinks available on a Saturday. Since the online menu and advertising gave the impression that food and drinks would be part of the experience, it would have been helpful to be notified beforehand. After making the candles, we were told to come back in two hours so they could set and cool. We went somewhere else to eat since food wasn't available, then received a call saying they would be closing early and that we needed to make sure we got back in time. After finishing our meal and heading back, we received another call asking if we could come back on Tuesday, three days later, to pick up the candles because "a blowdryer was broken." We politely declined and went back anyway. They said they would "try to find a blowdryer," but when we tried calling ourselves, the phone still was not accepting calls. When we got back, the candles still were not fully set. For a candle-making business, I would recommend investing in more reliable or industrial equipment for the setting/cooling process, especially if guests are told they can return the same day. I also think clearer communication would go a long way. Even a simple "sorry, we're not serving food or drinks today" before arrival would have helped manage expectations and allowed us to plan better. Another thing I noticed is that much of the advertising/content appears to be AI-generated and does not necessarily reflect the actual experience. The online presence suggests a fuller food, drink, and event experience than what was available during our visit. Using real photos, real flyers, and more accurate updates would better represent the business and avoid over-promising and underdelivering. It was an interesting experience, to say the least. I do think it's important to support small and local businesses, and the idea has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it was clear that the kinks have not been fully worked out. They had their "grand opening" the following week despite hosting events before then, and allowing appointments/class scheduling without any disclaimer. I can't say I would recommend it right now, but I do think the concept is strong and could be great with improved communication, preparation, and consistency.

My…read morefriend treated me to one of their candle-making classes, and it turned out to be a really fun experience. Our class had about eight people and kicked off with a lighthearted icebreaker, which helped set a relaxed, social tone. You can also enjoy sparkling wine or sparkling cider during the experience, which was a nice touch. Our instructor clearly walked us through the candle-making process step by step, making it easy to follow even for beginners. One of the highlights is their scent wall where they offer 40+ fragrance options, so you can create a custom blend that truly fits your vibe. This is a great activity idea for a date night, bestie outing, team-building event, or girls' day out. They also sell premade candles, wax melts, and scent drops in-store and everything smells amazing. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun, hands-on experience in the city.
