LeRoy: The appearance inside the restaurant was covered in barn siding with lots of rustic compliments. The food is extremely fresh, the girls commented on their lettuce being greener than normal. They made my sandwich while I waited and it was fresh as could be. The stuffed pepper soup was the best I ever had. I definitely recommend taking an extra 10 minutes when you come so that you can slow down and enjoy the entire experience. Katie: The lettuce on my sandwich and in my salad was super green and delicious. The flavor was better than I expected, and I would come back for another sandwich! Caitlin: The chef salad was piled high with delicious, fresh toppings! The staff was friendly and professional. We will definitely be back!

One of my favorite places. Top notch quality ingredients. The custom sandwiches are what keeps me coming back. Everyday on Facebook they post a new special of the day menu. Usually that's where I try new recipes. You can call and order for pick up which is very convenient. But it's also a great atmosphere to sit down and eat. Has a great view of downtown. read more

The best Soup and Sandwiches I ever had!!! I recommend The Hibernator Yumm! Most of the time the owner is in there making the food and you can see he takes pride in what he does. Felt to me like eating at home with someone else cooking. Everything is always fresh and delicious! Great soup and great sandwiches! The staff here definitely makes you feel like part of the family. I love their theme they have going on in there with all the wood cabin like feel. I've ate at many restaurants in Davison most of them are horrible this one is Great! read more

This place is amazing! The best tasting food in town. The yesterday I was here I had the Denali wrap and homemade Mushroom soup. Yum! Loved it so much I came back today and ordered the antipasto salad. This is the best antipasto I've had in a long time. Better than any Italian restaurant around. This place is amazing! I found it on yelp when searching in the Davison, MI area. It's a hole in the wall with only about 10 small tables but has many awards on the walls showing how loved they are in their community. I decided to try 1/2 the French Dip after seeing a fellow diner blissfully munching away, 1/2 club (who doesn't love bacon!), and a cup of the stuffed pepper soup. The soup taste just like a stuffed pepper. Just enough heat to give it spice w/o being overwhelming. The club was typical of anywhere else; as to say nothing real special but good quality ingredients. The real winner for me was the French Dip. The beef was thin and flavorful and the grilled pannini was packed with it! The Au Jus was beefy tasting and had chunks of beef in it. The environment was okay. A bit "up north" feel with pictures and statues of bears etc and the smoke from the grill filled the air a bit making your clothing smell once you left. However, the food is enough to bring me back smoke, bears, and all! My companion has the same plus 2 sides of cole slaw (sweet & crunchy); our total bill was $20. So 1/2 sandwich, cup of soup, and side of coleslaw plus 20 oz pop for about $10 PP. Not a bad deal IMO read more

As an avowed Yelpster I am always looking for something unique and interesting so on my way back from Lapeer to home in Flushing I Yelped for sandwiches and Bear Soup Deli came up with a great rating and excellent reviews. My wife and I have been here twice in the past week and I am sold. The soups are homemade, flavorful, and a great blend of spices to make you want to try them all. On our first visit the owner presented us with a sampler flight of the soups for the day. Everyone was very good. The sandwiches are really fresh and have such an unusual but fantastic flavor combination. My wife had the turkey Reuben and was so impressed she asked me why I hadn't brought her here before. My Beef and Cheddar was tasty and the horseradish mayo really set it off well. The Tequila Black Bean soup was also tasty and served hot. Second time there I had the Blue Bear Club with turkey, pastrami, and bacon, with a blue cheese spread, served as a panini. Really enjoyed this sandwich and as I get through more of them I will probably settle on a few favorites. You have to come here and try the sandwiches and soups. BTW they are in the process of renovating a new building further south on Main Street and hope to open in the spring, with a new kitchen. Gonna keep the same bear theme. Disappointed, after seeing solid rating & reviews. Perhaps why, on a Friday night, there was only a single diner & one carry-out. Food served cafeteria style. Friendly server. Chili pleasantly served in old fashion soup bowl, on sweet side, only slight kick, cheese/onion topping would be welcomed. Bean soup good with seasoning added & nicely topped with cheese/onion. Club ok, improved with added tomatos & extra mayo. Had to request both twice since minimum given. Reuben also ok, too salty, corn beef sliced too thick, imho (read my other reviews for best Reuben ever). It's unfortunate, most of the components are there, but aren't being put on the plate. Wish them well but won't be back. read more

There's a reason my wife and I consistently stop at small independent restaurants and Bear Soup is a wonderful example. First, we were warmly greeted when we walked in and had the wall menu explained to us. We had the turkey wrap, pork chowder and a salad. The food is excellent and fresh! The prices are reasonable! Locals fill the place. So it's worth a little bit of a drive to get great food! Next time we're in the area, we'll be back!! read more

This place is fantastic. The beef and cheddar was really good, and the homemade cole slaw will have me coming back for more. Not to mention it has that small business feel, where you sense they put a lot of effort into the little things that most places overlook or neglect. The prices were pretty fair as well. Stopped in for a quick dinner after hearing about this place for years. The owners were very friendly and my Turkey Reuben was delicious. My wife's Italian (don't recall the exact name) on ciabatta was very good as well. The Turkey with Rice soup and the Black Bean soups were fine but were completely upstaged by the sandwiches. I was really looking forward to having a great lunch experience. Sadly the sauerkraut on my reuben was extremely salty. Normally the sauerkraut is drained and slightly rinsed so I am not sure if it was on purpose or that they forgot somehow. My husbands sandwich was fine he did have to ask for extra mayo. read more

While I've had a couple different sandwiches here, you should try the Hibernator. Salami, ham, turkey on a panini pressed ciabatta bread. Throw in spicy mayo and banana peppers with provolone cheese. Warm it up and it's heaven. Great service. Friendly small town atmosphere. Easy parking. I look for reasons to go to downtown. read more

Numerous times go to order large pizzas and they are out of crusts so have to order the personal pizzas which are way overpriced compared to the large. They need to do a better job with inventory on hand and keeping the equipment working and staffed.

Chile rellenos coating was very thick and the chile wasn't hot all the way through which meant the cheese inside wasn't melted. The shrimp on top weren't completely cooked either. I see what they were trying to do but they didn't pull it off. It was a Sunday afternoon, early evening. Staff is very attentive.

First, the mushrooms started coming out of cans, then the waitstaff became surly & incompetent, and now the pizza is bland & many times burnt on the edges. As an example of incompetence the server this last time tried to tell me Coke Zero and Diet a Coke are the same thing and wanted to argue with me when I said Diet Coke has a totally different taste. He then said they changed after they conducted a vote on FB and the majority wanted Coke Zero over Diet Coke. What a dumb approach, Diet Coke drinkers should stop and get a Bug Gulp so something tastes good!

The food was really good and affordable. Would definitely go back again. Would recommend to others. The only down side about the whole experience was that it was my first time there and they were train in a new person. The person was doing a great job, the owner was not doing a very good job training her. She was being very rude in explaining procedures and how to do things. All of the customers could see and her what she was saying and doing. The owner even made a comment to a customer in front of me that she wasn't being mean she was just training the new girl. That isn't how you train someone properly. You need to show them how to do it, not just bark orders to someone. read more

Always on the next great deli search in every town I'm in. Wonderful, polite staff that helped explain the daily specials. Ended up getting the chicken salad sandwich and Amish macaroni salad. 12/10 food and experience. read more
