Level 3 Rapids!
Wanda D.

We love floating The Boise River float yearly but felt we needed a little more than just 2 or 3 Level 3 rapids; so we decided to go next level and drive out to Banks, Idaho. After reading many reviews we decided to try out Bear Rafting Valley Company. Boy are we glad we did! We had a Blast!!! We had a party of 4. (2 adults and 2 kids). We are elderly and was a bit worried that it might be a bit too much...but the only problem we had is we couldn't stop smiling and laughing. There was a total of 7 on our boat. Our guide was a fun, very knowledgeable about nature, safe and entertaining man named Max. He kept us entertained the whole 3 hours. He even let our Grandkids jump out of the boat and swim. I was nervous when the grandkids did - but he said don't worry-I'll get them in the raft safely. There were several level 2 and 3 rapids that kept it exciting. We will definitely come again! The front staff is also very friendly and accommodating. I loved the fact that the drive was only 50 minutes from Meridian! Who knew this fun place was so close! We will definitely be back!

We had such a blast out there. Filip was an awesome guide! He made it super fun, was friendly, very knowledgeable, and took really good care of us all. Also the rafts and equipment were all in really good shape.

Half day rafting trip on the Payette river,

My friends and I did the half day rafting trip recently. The staff were amazing, especially our guide Payton. We all had a fantastic time! I highly recommend this company. They are a knowledgeable and fun group. I'm looking forward to doing the more advanced full day rafting trip next summer!

Galen an amazing river guide with great stories he shared. It was a great day.

Today, we went out on the Payette River with Bear Valley Rafting. Our tour guide was Galen, an amazing guy. We had an amazing time. The water was beautiful, the day was amazing, and the people who came with us were wonderful.

Fun on the river

Water shoes included were great. Our guide, Eli, was extraordinary. Professional, knowledgeable, funny, and warm, we all felt we were in good hands the entire time. Without being militant, he had us double-check our life vests, and reminded us while bull riding what to be mindful of. Wonderful way to spend the afternoon, we experienced the adventure of the rapids, the calm of the river when he let us know when and where it was safe to jump in, the beauty of the surrounding environment, good conversation about the history and nature of the river, and lots of laughs when winning splash battles with our family on a separate raft. It was our first time river rafting, and Eli was the perfect guide for us. So memorable, and our teen is already asking for the next trip. Cafe/store/grounds/changing areas/bathrooms/lockers were all clean, despite how busy it was and that there were so many people (and kids!) there. Breakfast burritos and ciabatta sandwiches were tasty, as were the cookies, muffins, and packaged ice cream. Complimentary coffee was a bonus. Staff were wonderful, especially in the cafe - accommodating, fun, and all-around solidly kind and wonderful people.

Ginger had to go out of her way to drive down river, beat us there, get into position, and take the pictures. Obviously that's a lot of effort, but the pictures came out great. Hunter, our guide, was just the coolest friendliest guy and made us all feel very welcome. Basically the vibes were just good and friendly and jokes were flying the whole time. I would highly recommend this place for anyone that's physically able to do it.

We've done many rafting trips over the years but this was the first time we've gotten suited up in a farmer john suit, water booties, and long sleeve waterproof shirt to combat the cold water. We have been in snow melt runs before so this was interesting but oh so great to be comfortable on the river. I was never cold and interestingly never too warm despite the layers. Sean follows the raft in a white water kayak to be a safety back up just in case and also snap some cool pics - also a first on a rafting trip and I thought it was awesome. Stephen did a great job navigating our raft and the collective group of us were all skilled enough to ensure we didn't tip over or fall out of the raft (except one person). We just loved it! We did the canyon stretch for 5 class 4 rapids in like 45 minutes. The trip felt like it went fast but it was so fun! Lunch was delicious, allergy sensitive which is always appreciated. It was nice to see this part of Idaho since we usually stay further south west due to where family lives when we visit. It was a treat to be on the rafting trip and catch some hot springs nearby and on the rafting trip. This river stretch includes Pine Flat hot springs but Kirkham is within a couple miles and part of a different run they offer as well. 100% recommend if you are looking for an awesome adventure with great people!

At the end of the float, Boise River Raft and Tube has a designated rented raft and equipment pick up spot, for easy dropping off of your equipment. It is nice not having to lug around the gear after soaking in the sun for a few hours. They also have a bus shuttle service which takes you back to the top after floating down to the bottom. Service is always great. The workers are friendly and have good knowledge on how to have a safe and fun floating experience. Pro Tip: For those not wanting to ride the bus back to the top and going in a group. Consider parking a vehicle at the bottom, piling into another vehicle, and then driving to the top. After you float down with your group, hop in the car at the bottom and pick up the vehicle at the top. Though the bus ride back to the top isn't anything to be feared and is a great option.

The fishing was wonderful. The guides were so knowledgeable and friendly I can't say enough positive about them. Kevin, Wyatt, Kyle, Bob and David you guys TOTALLY Rock. If you have kids who might like this kind of thing, bring them along. The guides made them feel great and helped them learn to fish in one case (11 yo boy) and improve fishing skills in two case (10 and 13 yo boys). The boys wanted to kayak, so the guides got the inflatable kayaks out and helped the boys build confidence and they kayaked through water and increased their confidence and self-esteem. Did I say the food was Amazing. (I tend to be a bit picky about food, so this is really a six star recommendation on the food). The sauce on the Greek salad and sandwiches (you add your own, but I love Tzatziki sauce) was wonderful. It was all good. You can come on this trip with complete confidence you will have a great time. I would like to bring my wife back to do this in a year or two.

I took my 14 year old son Isky on this trip and I knew it was going to be special, but I never anticipated anything this sublime. You are being guided through true wilderness in the high desert. Glorious dry sunshine along a pristine river, chock full of excellent, thrilling rapids, surrounded by mountains, fresh air and that occasional wild life spotting (in our case, a bear, 2 bald eagles, mountain goats, one small bobcat, and countless fish). Jarrett has assembled an A-team of guides that go above and beyond with smart, responsible mentorship, showing you the ropes, educating you with stories of the land (geography and history) and they are very interesting too. Mike is a super star, ex-navy pilot with an infectious energy and smile; Ty is a smart, super friendly Mechanical Engineering student from Arkansas, Rylee is a wildlife and animal wrangling expert who can catch and clean a fish faster than anyone, Leia rounds out the group making the everyone in the group feel taken care of and is always there to help you whether your gearing up, hungry, or just have a question about anything. Shout out to Loren (Jarrod's wife and partner) for preparing a virtual gourmet feast every day. There are no words to describe just how much effort and artistry goes into to the food prep. You will eat well and trust me that there is PLENTY of food, you won't be hungry. The stars on this experience are old world. You will never see space like you do on this journey. This is a 6 stars out of 5 experience. Do it now before corporate America takes over and spoils this untouched wilderness. It will change your life.
