My family came here on vacation (some of us are still a bit wet haha) and it was genuinely awesome. We met Ginger, one of the owners, who took pictures for us while our guide, Hunter, helped us on the raft going down the river. Ginger had to go out of her way to drive down river, beat us there, get into position, and take the pictures. Obviously that's a lot of effort, but the pictures came out great. Hunter, our guide, was just the coolest friendliest guy and made us all feel very welcome. Basically the vibes were just good and friendly and jokes were flying the whole time. Sean and Ginger have created a slice of heaven they perfected to share with the world. Their years of work history between both of them built the backbone of their business that shines due to their hard work and heart. We've done many rafting trips over the years but this was the first time we've gotten suited up in a farmer john suit, water booties, and long sleeve waterproof shirt to combat the cold water. We have been in snow melt runs before so this was interesting but oh so great to be comfortable on the river. I was never cold and interestingly never too warm despite the layers. Sean follows the raft in a white water kayak to be a safety back up just in case and also snap some cool pics - also a first on a rafting trip and I thought it was awesome. Stephen did a great job navigating our raft and the collective group of us were all skilled enough to ensure we didn't tip over or fall out of the raft (except one person). We just loved it! We did the canyon stretch for 5 class 4 rapids in like 45 minutes. The trip felt like it went fast but it was so fun! Lunch was delicious, allergy sensitive which is always appreciated. It was nice to see this part of Idaho since we usually stay further south west due to where family lives when we visit. It was a treat to be on the rafting trip and catch some hot springs nearby and on the rafting trip. This river stretch includes Pine Flat hot springs but Kirkham is within a couple miles and part of a different run they offer as well. 100% recommend if you are looking for an awesome adventure with great people! read more

Best whitewater rafting experience EVER! Between the team and the Canyon river course itself, it just can't be beat! We arrived and were greeted by Sean (owner), who explained the process and got us geared up for the trip. The shop had all the extras you might need and Ginger (owner) was very helpful. Our bus ride to the put in was quick and after a safety review, we very quickly were pushing off and on our adventure. Joe was our guide and he was very informative and a great leader. He had tons of information to share and was quick to point out any slackers in our group! (In a very teasing way, but my teenage son totally deserved it!) We stopped at a hot springs for a dip, and about halfway down we hit another spot for a delicious homemade lunch of black bean and chicken wraps and homemade cookies! Joe noted that the first half of the trip is practice for the second half, and boy was he right. This second half of the river had more successive rapids than any other we've run, and it makes for a fast paced and super fun second half for sure. Previous reviews note that you do need to be aware of your abilities. This is a physical run and requires your attention and skill. The portage was impressive and very well navigated by Joe and the other guides and by Sean who was along for most of the run in his kayak, so that he could provide safety support, and take lots of pictures. Joe made sure that we all had a fantastic experience throughout. Once we'd completed the run, we had soft drinks and a nice ride back to the shop where Sean pointed out several rapids we'd run. Once we returned to the shop, dried off and changed, Sean ran through the pictures for our group, which were priceless! He then helped point us towards our next destination. From start to finish this is a Class A operation. You can tell these people truly care and want you to have a wonderful and safe experience, and memory. *Oh, and they're just damn good people. I got a call later in the day from Ginger who informed me that we had double tipped and she offered to refund one of the tips. * To Sean and Ginger and Joe, thanks for such a great experience. This was the best experience whitewater rafting and all around most enjoyable service we had for a multi hour experience! We arrived at 9:30 am for the whitewater rafting experience and were greeted by Sean, the business owner. He had great energy and was easy to talk to. We dropped off our car keys with Ginger and got the gear provided with the experience. Sean drove us to the rafting starting point with great music to keep the positive energy going! We got a safety brief before meeting our guide and starting the trip. Jesse is amazing and I highly recommend joining his raft if you can choose. He has been with the company for 7 years / seasons and he's familiar with the terrain. I loved the fun facts and light conversation sprinkled throughout the trip. Our first stop was at a natural hot spring. Turns out the butterflies in the area are attracted to the minerals. We also saw a baby sea otter on the banks early on our rafting experience. Lunch came around at Butterfly Cove in the form of pasta, cookies and fruit. We also got juice as we enjoyed our meal. The overall rafting experience ramps up in the middle half. The first and last quarter were more easy going. I got splashed with quite the water throughout and luckily did not fall out of the raft. Sean told us they typically have 1-2 people fall out per day. He was with us as the safety person in his solo kayak for most of the trip. He took pictures throughout the experience from his vantage point. This is a physical experience so be honest to yourself about your abilities. There was a part that we don't raft - the portage- so we pulled the raft around the rough waters. There's a mini hike during this portion and I used the paddle to maneuver around the rocky area. The area is uneven and some steps are quite far for my short frame. I used my hands and butt as needed to move around. I thoroughly enjoyed it and liked how there's another element of the experience on this trip. At the end, we got a soft drink / beer while loading the bus with all the equipment and a group photo! Sean drove us back with great music again and pointed out parts of the rafting from the viewpoint of the bus. This is so thoughtful and was a fantastic way to share what we accomplished in the last 4-5 hours. Back at the cars, we changed and viewed all the photos Sean took earlier. There's an option to purchase a link to the digital photos. I absolutely loved this experience and will be sharing this with anyone interested in whitewater rafting. Wow!! Best time ever!! There is a reason these guys are so highly rated! If you are looking for a fun rafting trip on the Payette River in the Lowman area, you won't go wrong with this company! It is owned by Shaun and Ginger, who couldn't be nicer and any more accommodating to make sure everyone's experience was great! There were 4 in our group and a total of 4 rafts, 4 guides, 26 people and Shaun the owner on a kayak taking pictures and acting as an additional safety monitor . We felt very safe out there . Our guide Rob was excellent , clear instructions and directions and a great sense of humor. We went about 12 miles downstream, stopped for lunch , which the staff prepared and was delicious, and then we continued on our way... When we got back to the base, we were treated to a picture slide show recapturing our adventure- our day couldn't have been any more fun! Awesome single day trip.... We wanted to just go on a day trip but still hit some adventurous rapids and this place was the only place that offered that mix that we found, although there must be other outfitters.... But this place didn't disappoint. Owners were friendly and the guides were great. Our guide was Tyson and he was awesome. Note: the high adventure single day did require at least 3 other people and the guide to carry the boat around a waterfall and also get the boat up a pretty big incline at the end. The boat wasn't that heavy but if you aren't carrying the boat you should be helping and carrying the oars. Point is when they say you should be able to climb on some rocks etc. they mean it. Anyway, our trip had a ton of rapids, maybe like 25 different ones, and what was nice is even some of the smaller rapids still gave you a nice pop up when you hit them right. They stopped by a natural hot spring which was nice and they had a nice jumping rock near the end. Water was stinking cold, but with the jackets they give you and how dry it is you never really get too cold as long as the weather is decent. Big Props: we had an issue when we booked our trip... got the date mixed up. Not sure if it was me or the web-site, but odds are it was me...they handled it with class and also helped us out when we had to drop one of our rafters in our group because of a late medical emergency. Point being they treat you like you want to be treated even when you aren't owed that. So thank goodness folks like this still exist in business, so please give them your business. You'll have a great time and your money is going to good folk. read more

We wanted a really memorable adventure to punctuate our "last" summer with our daughter who is going to college this fall. We are so glad we found PRC! Sean and Ginger were great to work with, fun, professional, and very accommodating. Our guide, Dak, was tons of fun and let us be as crazy and daring as we wanted to be while keeping us safe and upright in the process. We did the half day evening trip which was really pretty mild and would have been fine for young kids as well. Now that our taste buds have been whetted we can't wait to come back for a full day or multi-day adventure. One unique feature with their full day trip is the reservoir fed canyon so the water levels stay consistent much later into the season making even late summer/early fall trips just as enjoyable as the peak season. We just finished a one night two day trip and it was amazing from start to finish. My family has been rafting in California before but this was by far the best rafting I've done. The rapids were exciting and thrilling but I didn't feel unsafe. Our guide, Nate was so experienced and we had a great time on the overnight as he was our guide at camp as well. Payette River Company is a very well run business. The owners, Ginger and Sean, made sure every detail was taken care of. The river guides, Joe and Pat, are very personable and know every detail about the river and what to expect. Their experience made us feel safe and taught us a lot about the river and rafting. The one day Kirkland trip was perfect; it included all the equipment, lunch, a stop at the hot springs, and about 5 hours of rafting. Our experience with PRC was all around 5 stars. Last Friday my husband and I treated our out-of-town family to a half day white water rafting adventure. From the beginning Ginger and Sean (owners) made sure we were comfortable and safe even though the weather wasn't the best (raining, windy, and water was just a few degrees above freezing). They spared no expense to make us more comfortable, include high quality head-to-toe gear, kept the shuttle and headquarters toasty warm, and even making us tea afterwards. Our guide (I believe it was Jesse?) was very friendly, knowledgeable, and kept us feel safe the entire time. We loved it so much that we came back on Friday, July 17th to do an all day trip with more adventure! We loved our guides Joe, Nat (on Monday) and Ewin and Riff on Friday. Thank you Sean and Ginger! We took trip down the Payette on Monday with this guide service and it was amazing! First, we booked last minute and after calling 3 rafting companies they were the only ones to respond. A party of six, we have 4 children ages 8 through 14. We did the 10 am - 3 pm with lunch option. They packed us a lunch and I thought for sure we were going to be eating a dry, crusty sandwich sitting on the sand somewhere. Was I ever wrong. Sean set up a table and cut a fresh apple, we had carrot sticks, apple juice / water, a fresh tortilla wrap and homemade cookie. Even my picky eaters ate every last bit. Yes, I did ask for the recipe! Anyways - we didn't go on this trip for the food. We hit a few class 3 Rapids and floated about 12 miles of the river. Made about 3 or 4 stops including a hot springs. Great time! Definitely will calling them again in a few years when our youngest is 12 so we can hit the bigger white water. Price was reasonable - $100 per head and after the journey we had no problem leaving a gratuity. The only catch is they show you the pictures and you can buy the disc of images for $40. We did buy it because they were great quality and it was fun to wave at Ginger from the river. She did earn it having to wait at each rapid to get our picture. read more
