The $1500 a day charge is more than worth the price. They are getting me $2,000-3,000$ of wood from my trees per day if not more. We needed to have our deck demolished and the framing rebuilt before our decking contractor could…read moretake over the project. It's 1000 square-foot deck. It took Kirkman a little over two weeks (having taken a couple of days off in the middle) to finish the project. He came for payment and I was assured everything was done correctly and I paid him in full. When the decking started to get laid down, it became obvious there were many, many, many errors in the framing. Joists were sticking up too high, or too low with at least 12 of them requiring removal and replacement. There were nails and screws that did never been placed in the metal supports, creating significant safety issues. The whole deck was totally uneven, and it took our guys, along with my husband, many many hours to repair their errors so that our deck could be built. I am very disappointed having to pay well over $1000 to have the deck corrected. In addition, One of his workers was assigned to replace bad parts of the ledger. The worker spent three hours on this and Kirkland tried to charge us $1350 for it . when we complained about it he dropped it down to $300. His bookkeeping is very sloppy. He told our contractor that he (Kirkman) could charge whatever he wanted to charge for any extra work.. He also tried to charge us for concrete for which we had already paid. We consider this company, dishonest and his work is sloppy, he should be embarrassed by the quality of his work. I would never recommend this company.
