Not only was the design work creative, the construction meticulous and the final deck beautiful, the process was fairly swift too, with no need for change orders and not even a hint of nickel-and-diming that you can get from some other contractors. I am very appreciative of the great work that Stone Ridge Decking did in our backyard, they were overlapping with other landscaping efforts, and the team fit right into a good cadence with the other crews working on the grounds. We trusted Jake quickly as he presented with confidence and strong communication skills. At first, he seemed responsive, competent, and personable. Unfortunately, he made some major structural mistakes, including the foundation pour and steps installation. At first, he took responsibility, but then backtracked via email. We tried several times with the same result. In person he was great, then full denial by email. The work quality did not live up to the other positive reviews. He may request you give a positive review so he can "buy his workers lunch" that day. If you hire him, be sure to be very involved with your project from start to finish. Take a lot of photos and document everything. read more

Our old deck was in bad shape. We got several bids to rebuild it, including one from Jake, the owner of Stone Ridge Decking. The first thing I noticed about Jake was his professionalism. He listened carefully to what we said we were looking for, asked clarifying questions as needed, and definitely gave the impression that he knew what he was doing and what his team could provide for us. In seemingly record time, we had a detailed estimate. Home remodeling of any kind is pretty expensive these days, but Jake's estimate was comparatively reasonable, and we needed to get the project done. We were looking at starting around next week, but another project got postponed, so Jake called us on the morning of 7/8 and asked if the crew could start that day. They arrived promptly, and got to work. Each day, they got here early - took Sunday off, good on them - and finished today. Our new deck is BEAUTIFUL. Solid, attractive, and all invoices tracked with our estimate. Five stars. My only regret is we can't hire them for other remodeling jobs, because they only do decks! But I can absolutely and unequivocally recommend them for any deck-building project you may have in mind. Honest, fair, professional, and they do great work. An emphatic thumbs up! read more

Our trex deck is wonderful. So easy to clean with a damp mop. When we had a small issue staff came right away to fix it. I Love this company. We went from a dilapidated wood deck to a trex deck. A little pricey but will last 50 years. read more

We are so Happy :-) with our new Deck. It is beautiful, easy to clean, and solid as a rock. Jake came out and did an onsite visit. I never felt any pressure from Jake. He was honest and straight forward. He suggested ways we could save money and bid on several different additions that I ask about. They had an open slot the following week. We told Jake we would like to start then. After just a couple days of emails and texts making changes to the deck plan, the crew started working in just two days. Jake and his crew are great easy to work with, and able to shift gears on a dime. The crew made sure everything was done perfectly. They were on time every day, had a plan for the day and worked as a well-tuned team to move from one phase to the next. The deck was done 10 days later. My husband is in a wheelchair, so we wanted a big open space for him to move around and two ramps that had to be perfect and give him easy access to the house. I wanted a plant rail (drink rail) all the way around the deck. It is everything we dreamed of and more! read more

I highly recommend Stone Ridge. They replaced a large, old redwood deck with Timber Tech decking. They were actually able to start the work a few days earlier than originally scheduled and finished sooner as well. The work they did in the foundation and structural aspects of the project was impressive. Every joint on the deck is precise. The crew showed up on time, maintained a clean job site, and did an amazing job. There is great attention to detail in everything they did. The end project is perfect! read more

After talking to numerous contractors we went with Jake at Stone Ridge and we are so glad we did! His crew of Joe, Solomon, Mason, (and one other guy whose name I sadly forgot, sorry!) we absolutely awesome. Super professional, super clean, and friendly! We had a hiccup with material from the supplier and they all they worked super hard to get us what we wanted fast, they really took the stress out of large project like this. We recently had Stone Ridge replace an old, poorly built deck, and we couldn't be happier. What I was most impressed with was not what you see in the gallery pictures, however. The first thing was Mike and the crew's attention to detail - tight miters, uniform butt joints, thorough touch up and very clean finish work all around. The other work that amazed me was their framing. I honestly think this deck would stand up to a category five hurricane. And again, their attention to detail on things that most people never see was impressive. I've done smaller scale projects like this over the years myself, and as I woodworker and avid DIYer it was pretty humbling to see what it looks like when a real professional does the work. Lastly, there were no big problems. I didn't expect things to go perfectly, but it went more smoothly than I expected. I'd highly recommend them. read more

Stone Ridge Decking ended up being one of the best decisions we've ever made with our house. We have a terribly complex yard that some of the other premier deck builders in the area took a look at and didn't even want to submit a bid for. Jake was intrigued, stepped up, and over the course of a couple months worth of e-mail, phone calls, and in-person meetings, hammered out a fantastic architectural design. We started construction and the crew's attention to detail matched the level of care that Jake put into the plans. From demo to finishing details, they were on-time, hard-working, personable, and most of all highly-talented/skilled. On top of all that they were extremely adaptable and amenable to solving the inevitable unforeseen hiccups that arise in complex construction projects. When the inspector came to look at their work he was taken aback by how consistent and thorough it was down to the smallest details. "You don't see this kind of work much; somebody really taught these guys," was his exact quote. Everybody who sees our decks now is blown away at both the design and the carpentry. I cannot recommend Stone Ridge Decking highly enough - if you're looking for deck work to be done and you're in the area of Northern California they serve, consider yourself lucky! read more
