Amazing! They provide old school barbershop hair cuts and razor shaves. They are extremely talented, provide unique services, beautiful vintage atmosphere and friendly employees. They take their hair cuts and shaves very seriously and pay attention to every detail. They have couches so waiting is no problem because it's extremely comfortable. They even have sweet laid back shop dogs. They take walk ins and also take appointments. It was my boyfriends first time here. He wanted a barber experience and not just a salon cut. So glad we found this place and he will continue to come back every 2 weeks. And I'll probably always come just to sit on the comfy couches and cuddle with the dog :) read more

Wow, screw this place now. Been coming here for a long time and always been super happy with the results. Apparently though, they don't know how to deal with a little snow. You know, it's not like they work in the Chicagoland area or anything. A little snow falls and they close down their shop. What upsets me though is that I didn't receive any voicemail or e-mail or anything telling me they closed down. It takes me 45 minutes to get here from Oak Forest (yes, they are worth the drive), so to show up and find out they're closed with no notification...unacceptable. The whole reason I booked the appointment with Tyler months ago was because I have a wedding I'm going to be in next weekend and I needed my beard trimmed up. Now I have to find some place out by me that I can squeeze into sometime this week. I can't make the drive all the way out to Beardsgaard during the week with hopes of getting a walk-in, because, you know, I'm an adult with a job. What a wonderful, wonderful place! Very warm and cozy atmosphere. Natalie and Ty were very friendly and welcoming. I went there specifically for my goatee, the haircut was secondary,. I always had a problem keeping goatee even and always wondered if I had it at the right chin line for my face, Natalie did a fantastic job, goatee looks good to me and my wife loves the way it looks. Also pick up some beard oil or beard balm, it makes a huge difference. You will have to make an appointment, they aren't able to take walk in business right now. Went here to have my beard cut for the very first time since I started growing it. Not only did I find it super easy to go online and get an appointment, but once arriving I was shocked by the efficiency that this shop runs. Everything was timed perfectly to the minute. From my wait to my trim. Eric did an epic job shaping and trimming my beard as well as giving me some great tips on maintaining my beard. There was a large selection of products for styling and maintaining facial hair and I picked up a few items for myself on the way out. Great location with lots of parking. The owners know their stuff. I got a fantastic cut the first time in. But the quality has ebbed. Not sure if I'm not "hip" enough or my tip isn't large enough. Does the quality of my beard and haircut balance on my personality? LOVE the puppies running around and the kids who play in the back while we get our haircut. It has a real laid back feel. Needed a beard trim for a wedding, decided to give it a try based on the positive reviews. Appointment time was on point, no extra wait. Amanda Blue did a great job, only about 15 minutes and done. The price was also not bad at $12. Would definitely recommend to anyone who needed their facial hair cleaned up. They also had a great dog in the waiting area, how can you not like that. read more

This was truly an awesome experience. I went for one of their walk in Wednesday's just because right now through the holidays it's my easy to get a standard appointment, but I see why. The atheist here is very eclectic and charming. It's a very warm and welcoming place with a bearded dragon in in cage in the front, but one of the barbers doggies running around and greeting every single guest. I was there about 20 minutes before they opened and was 9th in line already. I am pretty sure if you want to be first on Wednesdays you have to be there at least 45 minutes early. The wait wasn't bad for the work they do at all. And because the atmosphere is so welcoming you really don't notice it much. (Bring something to keep you occupied) I had Tyler and he was amazing. He related to me right when I sat down and was able to connect right away. No awkwardness you get at the normal hair place you pay 12 dollars for. I sat down. Told him what I was looking to do and he just went about his business; which is the way I like it. Let's just say I will be bask. I did make an appointment for the 29th (first available into the new year) but will probably go back for a line up in between. Love love love this place!! read more

I received a Beardgaard gift card last year for Father's Day. I'm not sure why. I am a balding man who keeps his hair short and I can't grow facial hair to save my life. And I am not ready to make the transition to razor shaving my head. But I had the gift card, so why not use it? This was the best gift I have received in a long time. I love this place! The shop is really cool, eclectic, and comfortable. And I love the smell in there (I think it's the smell of the shaving cream). Today, Amanda shaved my head. She was super nice, and very thorough. She gave me a buzz cut and took care of my neck with a straight razor. The atmosphere was really comfortable. It doesn't matter if you have a full head of hair and a thick beard, balding with short hair, or a teenager - they will take great care of you and leave you looking and feeling better than when you walked in the shop. I can't speak highly enough of Beardgaard. I will be back. And when I am ready to shave my entire head with a razor, I will be getting it done at Beardgaard. read more

Did ok, girl who cut my hair was too busy talking to her coworkers rather than being attentive and friendly towards me. Told them I needed a clean up for a wedding and was not too happy with the result. There was no clarification about anything- when I asked for a clean up I assumed it would be my full face. I waited longer for the service than I received chair time. Overall a little upset over my experience. My haircut stays manageable long after the cut. I get compliments on my hair frequently. I get cut by Natalie and she has the perfect blend of what I'm looking for. I can be pretty OCD about my hair and she accommodates me, no problem. While I have only had 2 cuts, it's still a lasting impression and I will continue to get my cut here! read more

Tyler is such a good barber that I am seriously considering driving from Park Ridge to Batavia for my haircuts. I was a loyal customer when he worked for another shop and now I can't find anyone even close to his expertise here. Do yourself a favor and try him once. I am an entry-level beard guy and know a few basics went it comes to beards (oil once a day, brush once a day, wash once a week). I have tried to trim my beard (its 4" off my chin) with mediocre results. I found out about Beardsgaard through a friend and fellow beards-man. I was taken away at how wonderful this place looks. After my first and now only trip to this barber shop I couldn't have been more disappointed... while running behind on appointments is understandable I would have at least expected better results for the wait. I finally got in 20 mins after my appointment time I was given a 10 min beard trim and out the door. I was fist charged for a service that wasn't even performed, I had scheduled for a "Signature Beard Fixin' with Razor Lining" but received an amateur beard trim with some buzzers. Where is the "razor lining"?? And on top of that I got to the car to see my mustache all uneven and butchered. Complete was of $18 plus tip. read more

I just got back from my first haircut and beard trim with Beardsgaard. What a great place. They have done a great job with all of it. It is a very refreshing and friendly atmosphere. My haircut is perfect and Tyler made the rats nest of a beard I had presentable again. This shop is laid back and easy going. I felt very comfortable having my beard and hair cut there. Tyler is very good at what he does and by watching him you can tell he is very confident in his abilities, which is what you want when someone is shaving you with a straightedge razor. I have never left a review on yelp but im so pissed i thought i have to. I have been here two times previously and got a great cut and beard trim. This time i called and they put me with Scott their walk in guy. Now i should have known just by the fact hes the walk in guy that this would be bad, but i thought id give him a chance. He trimmed my hair first and that was fine. When it came to my beard i told him i just want it trimmed so its even. At this point he took out a buzzer to do my beard. I know that once a beard has grown out you never use a buzzer on it. Before going in i had great under growth and everything was even. Well he buzzed and took away all my under growth cut it way too short all around and its totally uneven. I had to come home and try to even out the mess that i was left with. Im at the point that im thinking of cutting it all off. Horrible experience. Word of advice if you decide to go here is go to anyone else besides scott. I dont think i will ever go back. The only reason i have it 2 stars is because i had good cuts before scott ruined me. read more

It is my first time growing a full long beard, and I have left it alone for months. I decided it was time to get some professional help with the first trim. I called Beardsgaard Barbers up and was surprised that they could get me in about 30 minutes later as a walk-in. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. I saw Scott who seems to be their guy for walk-ins. I briefly described what I was looking for with the hair cut, and that I was looking for advise on styles and also upkeep tips for my first beard. Scott asked questions to hone in on my tastes as well as grooming style. We talked through what would look good on me and fit my life style, then Scott got to work. As he went he took extra time to explain some of the grooming nuances for the beard and things I could do at home to trim, straighten my curly beard hair, keep it soft & manageable, etc. Scott also explained a few of the products he was using and why, but their was no push trying to sell me something. Scott did a great job with the hair cut and the beard trim, and I learned a lot from his expert tips. I ended up getting their own line of beard butter as it seemed it was quicker & easier to use than some of the beard balms I had been using, while also making it soft and manageable. All told, very glad I decided to check out Beardsgaard!!! Will definitely be going back!!! read more
