We loved this place. Not sure where all the naysayers are coming from - good grief, people. We were warmly greeted on arrival, and our haircuts were done professionally and timely- Tyler was my stylist, and he did a VERY nice job. Family operated, we were brought into a nice conversation (given that we were new to the Chicagoland area, there was a bit to talk about!) - and we'll definitely come again. Making the appointments online was easy-peasy, and we were pleased that we didn't have to wait- we were waited on, seated, and our haircuts began on arrival. Wow. So nice. The only (and I mean only) issue was the "starting" tip on their credit card machine was 30% Now, I normally DO give 30% regardless- but I think 30% might be a bit high to start with. But that is IT. The shop was clean and all the employees were wearing masks. The haircut was great and for the first time in my sons haircut history neither he nor I was covered in hair. Professional, Respectful, and overall a great place. This barbershop is Family owned, and has been past down through few generations. Preston is the youngest of the Family, and a great guy. He did exactly what I wanted, while giving out great recommendations. Obviously I am not from Illinois, however if I am ever back Here, I will be visiting this barbershop. Don't listen to the bad reviews. I took my boyfriend here after another barber completely butchered his hair. The shop is super clean and they have vacuums on the walls attached to clippers to minimize the mess. Brian was his barber and he did God's work fixing what we thought couldn't be fixed. This has been my go to place for a year or two now, and i i never really had a problem with a bad haircut, had some average ones but never bad, and for the most part, they've been good. Until last time. The guy literally sent my hairline back an inch on one side and for some reason shaved way too high up the sides/back of my head. All i wanted was a fade and an inch of a trim on top. Now, From right to left there is about 3 inch different of length. I'm not sure what happened but it's going to take mon for my hair to grow back to how it was, and when your mom says it's bad, you know it's bad. I don't think I will be coming back after that, which is a shame. I think it really depends on who's cutting your hair here, so make sure you don't get the guy who did mine, lol. read more

Saturday 4:20pm Door was open, I walked in an asked how much and was told it's $22 a cut, but they are closed. He said he was sorry. I held my thoughts to myself and walked out. They don't have an open/closed sign. They don't have sign listing times of opening/closing. The door was open! I could have drove away if they had the signs. I could have walked away if door was locked. They had three young guys cutting hair and no one waiting. Ive worked work in service industry 47+ years and had just clocked out of 10 hr shift. I've taken thousands of late people in my career. Customer always comes first. They must be making lots of money to be able to turn people away. If his buddy walked in I bet he would have gotten a hair cut. He said he was sorry, but at $22 bucks a pop plus tip plus a 1st bad impression means I don't think I'll go back anytime soon. read more

I visited this barber shop based on positive reviews here on yelp. As I walked in through the door, I was only one customer at the shop, and it did not seem busy. No one greeted or inquired if I want a haircut. The shop looks like it's out of business, or on the way out of business with bunch of metal foldable chairs by the wall, horrible cold interior and lack of charm and decor. Interior aside, I am here for the haircut, so 10 min on the foldable metal chair won't be a big deal. To my disappointment quality of the haircut is very marginal to say the least. As I look in the mirror, hair on the right side of my head do not match left side. To my observation barber lacks style, vision and also not very careful when he cuts the hair. He did good job cleaning neck hair with razor. Yes he charges $17 plus tip, but in reality I would rather pay more to someone who is good and makes great haircuts. In my case, I already made appointment at another barber to correct the mess Beardsley created with my hair. Go and cut your hair somewhere else. read more

Tried them out and booked my appointment online. For both my kids. I arrived on time and they had someone else in the chair. Did not acknowledge me, tell me running late. Instead had to sit there for 50 minutes listening to the barber and the client have a great conversation. Didn't give me any apology either, instead he told me they were short staffed. Not sure how that applies to me. In total we were there for 2 1/2 hours for 2 kids haircuts. He did a decent job with the haircuts except the top, but needless to say not going back and disappointed. Last summer I wanted to try a fade. So I went to a salon. A well known salon. The fade was more of a high and tight and I paid 46 (without tip) for the cut. It looked nice but wasn't what I wanted. Well I wanted to try a fade again so I went to Beardsleys. Figured who better to cut mens hair than a man. Wow. This place is great. Walked in as a customer was leaving and got right in the chair. The barber, Nate, was engaged. He listened carefully to what I wanted and made sure I was happy throughout. He took his time doing an awesome fade, and even though two others had walked in and sat down, he never rushed the cut. The cool part is you don't have to go home after and shower. The clippers system has an awesome vacuum system that takes care of all the hair. None left over or down the back of your shirt. I will definitely be going back, and at $15 for a haircut, you can't beat it! read more

Been meaning to do a review on this shop for quite some time. In my opinion, this is hands down the most underrated Barbershop in and around the Chicago-land area. The price you pay for the quality of hair cut/neck shave you get is practically a steal! Nate is a good as it gets as far as Barbers are concerned. I walk out happy every time. For what it's worth, my sister owns a Chicago salon that has been on the news, written about in Chicago news papers, famous salon blogs, and even accredited on the famous Ellen show.... Great place. You really should go here. I had grown very tired of the usual discount chain hair cutters. Sport Clips, Great Clips, whatever. The turnover in those places is high and you end up with a different, usually uneven and disappointing cut, every single time. All I want is a simple hair cut that's done well. Nate delivered. Nice conversation, nice music and and best of all- a simple hair cut done exactly right. Clippers that keep the clipped hair off you and a razor shave to the back of the neck are sincerely nice bonuses. All for $15. I legitimately felt great after getting my hair cut here. Came in after my interview for a fresh cut. I paid $17 for a cut, which isn't bad at all considering I pay double in Lincoln Park. The owner, Nate, is super friendly and doesn't hesitate to strike up a conversation with you. While you wait for a cut there is an entertainment center setup in a corner with a tv and video game consoles...Super Nintendo and N64. If you're a 90s child, you would be foolish not to take the chance to relive your childhood while waiting!
