As a local yelp guide I truly don't enjoy leaving bad reviews or feedback but I've been looking at all angles of my hair in the mirror and going through all the layers at the crown of my head that were over texturized and I can barely get through my day without regretting my experience here at this particular Floyd's location. I got extremely bad vibes from my stylist when I met her and I had a strong intuition I should have left my seat based on the horrible wash basin experience that was ludicrous.  The stylist didn't know how to properly lower my seat so a good portion of the back of my scalp was dry and never hit water during my shampoo. I explained to her that I was uncomfortable and I'm super short in height and she acted indifferent like it was my fault I couldn't reach the water properly.  Finally I got out of my chair and asked the manager for assistance and she adjusted the back seat easily so the chair was comfortable.  I've no clue why the stylist didn't know how to adjust the seat but she has dark hair, wears it blown dry straight and acted cold and indifferent to me the whole time. She suggested round layers but she must have used texturing shears because my layers are jagged and my cuticles are completely exposed. Obviously she didn't realize I understand the texture of my hair much better than she does because she complained my hair was longer at the back and shorter at the front. I told her my goal was chest length hair as she proceeded to give me a bob so my hair now barely touches my collar bone and my once thicker hair looks thinned out. Her cut was poorly executed lèading me to believe she may have purposefully created layers that will take months to grow out because they definitely don't flatter my bone structure and they will grow out now unevenly with split ends because of the layers she chose. She took me further from my goal and I was trying so hard to be patient and grow out an over layered haircut I received from last year that I disliked. The funny thing is my hair is easy to cut. The fewer layers the better and just a solid shape is all I needed. The only reason I'm leaving two stars today is because I called the Corporate headquarters immediately after receiving this awful cut and Jakob in Colorado patiently listened to me as I truly needed to vent.  I had cut my hair Sunday night trying to add weight to the bottom layer of my hair so Monday morning I called this location at 8 AM asking if a stylist could even out the back.  I wasn't expecting an amateur to hack at my hair at the crown and expose my cuticle. My hair looks fried and unhealthy leaving me to believe she didn't understand my hair type which is curly and wavy. Jakob was kind enough to issue me a refund and suggest I try another location but unfortunately my hair takes forever to grow because I'm anemic.  My hair is grey, course and dry by nature and she added the wrong types of layers to my hair making it even more wiry looking.  She probably hates curly hair because she admitted to me she never wears hers curly. She blows dry her one length hair and ties it back in a ponytail because she dislikes her texture. I would not suggest this location because I was rushed in and out and made to feel like I was unimportant. Jakob was extremely professional over the phone with me and I suggest that further training take place here because this wasn't the experience or haircut I was hoping for. I truly hate my cut. I'm depressed looking at the scraggly thinned out tapered layers at the crown of my hair that make no sense.  If you don't like interacting with people you should not be in the beauty industry. I walked in not long before closing on Christmas Eve and tried to get a quick cut before going to all the holiday parties.. I asked if they could take me, the lady at the front desk said unfortunately not. Luckily Eileen heard that I was just looking for a quick cut. I turned around to ask how much a cut normally is and that's when Eileen became the savior of the day for me!! I asked her to please just cut it the way she'd like, she cut it quickly but very carefully, cleanly (no mistakes), and cut it in a way I liked very much. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed even though they were going to be closing soon. Thanks Eileen, because of you I will be back next time I need a cut! read more

I used this Floyd's 99 for the first time in early August. It was great! Sarah took the time to figure out my thick but fine hair and gave me an amazing cut! She has a great attention to detail. She also shaved straight lines (I have a Mohawk) which is hard to do. I've paid more money for sloppy lines. My experience was really great. Go there. Except when I want to be there. Then don't go there so there's a spot for me. read more

The Best Haircut ever..... Why, 5 letters M-A-N-D-Y! She was technically stellar, like a follicular maestro. Adroitly precise with cuts, and rechecked and touched up continuously with the greatest of aplomb. Like an sculptor taking step back and assessing their work, Mandy took no less consideration of her work. Unbelievable. She asked about eyebrow and neck trim and shave and then took such care to do a good job--but made it look easy. Now, Mandy was also engaging and pleasant--sharing stories, listening to mine and asking questions. She made the time pass quickly-- and pleasantly. I don't know who this chap Floyd is, but let me tell you this much-- accolades to him for seeing excellence and bringing it to his shop. Well first they scheduled me for 5:30 and then they pushed it to 5:40 I said it's okay maybe they're busy but once I get there the lady on the desk she told me to wait a little bit until the guy finished with a costumer, so I've been waiting for 40 minutes and I have a very important meeting. We won a free year of Floyd's haircuts. We went to the Schaumburg location. The first trip, the stylist looked completely like she rolled out of bed. Her hair was a mess, her clothes all wrinkled, and she absolutely was clear she didn't care to talk. Very unfriendly. She did perform the facial massage and hot towel. Her haircut initially wasn't appealing but as my hair grew in I really liked it. After I posted a negative review on Yelp!, the manager reached out to me. He did mention he would talk to the stylist and told me to ask for him next time. Second trip, he wasn't available all week. It was Sat and he wasn't available until at least Thursday (the person answering the phone was guesstimating). I chose a stylist online. I didn't realize not everyone there is not a barber. So do t expect a shave from them (so do understand I picked. A non-barber licensed person so I'll own that). I thought being Floyd's Barbershop... everyone would be a barber though. The second stylist was a little more personable, but still not as outgoing as you would expect at Floyd's with their rock n roll atmosphere. She did a good job cutting my hair, but when I asked for the towel and facial massage she said the coupons for the free cuts didn't cover that. When I went to pay, it didn't seem right about the shave or massage not being included since the past time and few times with our son it was included. Plus it says it right on the front of the coupon!! Shave or massage included with haircut. I asked the register guy why it wasn't included and he looked at the coupon like it was fake, then in a sarcastic tone asked me, "where did you say you got this?"... like I was trying to pull a fast one. Then he said well it scanned... but it doesn't show a massage or shave is included. They were clueless. This location seems to have one issue after another. Not the best first or second impression. I am going to call the manager this week. I can't in good faith recommend this location. It's clear from the past reviews within a year or 2 that my complaints are common among others. This shows that the wrong people have been hired and there is a quality control issue coming down to management and lack of training. read more

I called and told the woman on the phone that I was 5 minutes away and asked how long was the wait since I was a walk-in. The woman indicated they were completely booked up for the entire Saturday. My hair is not high maintenance and probably takes a whole 20 minutes including a shampoo. I find it hard to believe that you would turn away walk-ins because you were "booked". The woman who answered the phone should have attempted to squeeze me in to get my haircut. You lost a client. read more

I came in for a beard trim for $15. She used scissors and barely cleaned anything up or lined anything. I asked if she could clean up my neck too since she didn't really do anything with the beard. She said yeah no problem. Went to check out and was charged $13 for a minute neck shave. Total of $28 for 14 minutes of service. Ridiculous and total rip-off. "Barber" never mentioned there would be an additional charge. And definitely not something that would DOUBLE the price! Even when you go to chipotle and order the guac they let you know..."hey, it's an extra charge" 2 stars are for cleanliness (super clean) and the staff was nice and friendly. As soon as I walked in I was immediately greeted with a smile, gave my name and waited to be called. The team at Floyd's are extremely professional and about positive vibes. The floor swept, chairs clean, flat screens playing Monday night football and music playing creating a welcoming atmosphere. Page calls my name, asks how I would like my beard trimmed, offered her expertise and next thing I know I look in the mirror and IM SEXY AGAIN! Page applied beard oil while massaging the oil in my beard then made her final touches of excellence with her scissors. extremely impressed with Page who also offered her recommendations with restaurants as I'm.new to the area. Quite disappointed. My usual barber wasn't in. Used Laura i believe her name was. Her initial greeting seemed like i was interrupting her break.. So i brushed it off. She rushed through my haircut so quick. She went way too high and too short even when i showed her an example. I didn't expect my hair to look like the photo. I even explained i wear my hair as a pompadour. Completely ignored my sideburns and rushed me out of the barbers chair. My hair looks nothing like i usually wear it anymore. I needed a cut because of a meeting but I guess i shoulda waited. She left hair all over my face. The hair cut was sloppy. She seemed distracted at times. I ended up with a high fade and now my hair looks like it was cut by an amateur. Now i have to sport a hat for a few days till it grows in. I had to fix my sideburns to make the blend in with the high fade i didn't ask for. What the hell was she thinking?? Next time I'll just wait for my usual barber if i decide to come back. Cool place! When you walk in you notice right away how they have it decorated is a very punk rock / hard rock feel. They have posters of bands covering every inch of wall. The bands could be from the 1970's through some of the current bands of today. It also has a very mechanic feel as well, sort of like you're getting your haircut inside of a car or bike shop. The hair stylists use tool boxes to store their supplies. That brings me to my next point..... Are they hair stylists or barbers? The name indicates that it's a barber shop; however, all of the barbers are female. They probably went to the same beauty school as those that go on to work at salons, but I believe this place is meant mainly for men. While I've never had a haircut from sport clips or any of the other cheap places, I would say this is definitely a step up from them. I asked my barber what the difference was between this place and a sport clips and she said that they go the extra mile, beyond sport clips, with their barber shop shaves.... meaning they lather up the lotion and will shave your face and neck. I have never had anyone else shave my face, so that isn't a service I need. Curious from everyone else what their experience is and if you have any comparisons between this and a regular sport clips place. For now, I would say this place is pretty cool, and I'll continue going back. read more

I went in the shop and Schaumburg today on Meacham Road and the man literally had a fit because he didn't want to cut my sons hair because my son was up African-American to say all my son he was a fade and Alina and he literally argued with the lady at the front counter about doing it they then gave me a 3 o'clock appointment with him and he said oh no Sam can do it and she said no she can't after the argument I walked out of the building. They gave me a call back at four and told me that the schedule was changed until four because the barber that I was assigned, which is the barber that had the fit had an emergency. My son and I come here every time to get a haircut and every time I'm here I'm surrounded by the most amazing professional staff really, just an overall really a fun place to be. Usually kids do not like haircuts, but coming here isn't so bad for me because my son actually likes visiting his hairdresser Michelle, (she is the best!!) she makes it so easy for me. And he loves her so much! This time I actually lost my iphone at the salon and losing my phone would mean losing a lot, and going through a lot even though find my iPhone is on. That's because, I work and do businesses and make any income I have through my phone so I almost had a panic attack. As the owner of "The airbrush girl" Claudia the manager here went beyond to help me find it, and she wouldn't give up. And went through all the cameras rewinding, forwarding, slow mo, and all that.. even while the system was down she did it!! This lady decided that my son was her son and took it upon herself to cut his hair very short. We BOTH told her to leave it long but it fell on death ears. She continued cut even though we both told her it was getting too short. She didn't get a tip so I hope her control trip was worth it for her. My son left crying and I left pissed. Barbers..... Not!!!! When in, sat down, asked for a bald fade. I was told that she wasnt booked for enough time to give me the cut I wanted. Took my 12 year old son, he asked for 3 on the side, keep the length in back, and 1" off the top and back.... chopped!!!! no worried on this because hair grows back. Still gave a reasonable tip for both; with both my son and I on the same day with marginal cuts at best. Then I went up to pay... Tatooed dude with questionable math... $87???? whatever I paid.... I have just about four decades of haircuts under the "old" belt, and let me just say that this was bar none the best experience I have ever had in Barber Shop. Bridget D. was who I drew to carve out my new do - complete with handlebar mustache (sorry, no pics - imagination only) the likes of which grace the faces of the old bare knuckle boxers of yesteryear and memes of today. If you are wondering if spending that kind of dough for a haircut is worth it- absodanglutely!!! it's not a 5 dollar haircut, but it's not a 5 dollar haircut... if you get my drift. Like Nike always said, just do it. You'll be glad you did. But don't take my word for it - I'm just a dude that looked boarderline homeless with my out of control beard and now has been cleaned up complete with the.... handlebar mustaché! Update: This is really about my latest visit (today) where their sensationally skilled barber, Peyton C, took exceptional care of my hair and beard. Her attention to detail is on point, and she is thoughtful in letting me know to close my eyes before blasting the hair dryer. It's always nice not to have to tear up from a rogue hair snipping flying into your eye like a tiny javelin. So yesterday my son got a hair cut by his dad. I guess he took with his usual stylist. I appreciate his initiative and good will and did not make a coment. My son looked as a bowl got put on his head and cut his hair around it. I hated the results so today I took him to Floyd's barbershop that my friend recommended me for an emergency fix. Thank God they were able to accommodate us. We got there a bit early and got on the chair almost right away. The young lady Carolina was amazing. She understood my problem and gave us a solution. I've been here three time now and had three different women cut my hair. All did a great job, plus one cut my 5 year old's hair very nicely, with no fuss from him. Today she is giving my 7 year old daughter a trim and my wife is looking forward to coming here to get her hair cut and colored. Honestly this is my favorite place to get my hair cut since my childhood barber. I really enjoy the style, music and pleasant employees.
