My initial instinct was to comfort my child of course. I went in for a check up and the front staff, an older female, was extremely rude. I had a change in insurance and it seems she was having trouble with the computer. The clinic didn't accept the new insurance, so I canceled the appointment and told the staff I would call to cancel a future procedure because I was unsure if I wanted to pay out of pocket for the entire thing. I called to cancel and a staff answered and as soon as I requested to cancel she hung up on me. Oh, and they also kept $300. I lived in Huntsville/Madison for 3 years and this is just another place to avoid that's been added to my list.

Fees they never told me about,…read moregiving me bad information, billing errors, etc. The cherry on top was this: I lost my job and had to go on Medicaid which they don't take. (Initially I was told they did, then later on they said they did not.) They referred me somewhere else (which turned out to be less quality care.) I was told when we got our insurance back we could return. Finally when I got my kids back on their previous insurance, they wouldn't take me back. At first, they said "they just aren't taking previous patients back." I asked if they could make an exception due to my child's serious dental issues (and the extensive work Dr M had done, which was now being ruined by another dentist.) I was placed on hold, when another staff member picked up and said the real reason was actually because I had allegedly hung up on them once, several years ago. This is what I'm talking about when I say the staff gives bad information. Which is it- do you no longer take previous patients, or are you holding a grudge because you think I hung up on you years ago? Either way- putting your pride before the needs of a small child is awful behavior. Dr Moffatt cares about his patients but the staff does not.

We were accustomed to receiving a detailed receipt of services provided, which did not happen during this visit. When I called to inquire about the charge, I was informed that the additional costs were due to X-rays and the fact that my child is now considered an adult patient. This information was not communicated to us at any point during the visit or in advance, and we were not made aware of any potential additional charges. Further, when I requested to speak with Dr. Moffett directly to clarify the situation, I received a call from Erica, your office manager, who informed me that you would not be speaking with me and that the office would issue a refund for the charges in question. While I appreciate the refund offer, I am left feeling disappointed by the lack of transparency and communication. This experience is in contrast to the level of service we've received over the past decade, and I would have hoped for a more thoughtful resolution. Additionally, Erica mentioned that we will need to find another dentist for our children, which was disheartening to hear given our history with your practice.

Even for adults, a normal, considerate hygienist will tell you to raise your hand if you need to pause for a quick breather, or spit, during a cleansing, but here they go gung-ho, no pause, no mercy, until my 9 year old son was practically begging with both hands up to take a breather (his nose was stuffy and he couldn't breathe well) making anguished sounds, till he finally gagged and choked and sat up. I had to tell him, since the hygienist was just staring at him stupidly, to go spit in the sink (a long ways across the room, they have no small sinks beside each chair to spit all the red gunk, water, plaque and saliva out once in a while, they say they can aspirate it quick enough, which doesnt' work, or to SWALLOW IT!?!?! gross right? Proposterous!!! First time ever I hear of this!!) Anyway after my son gagged twice with absolute indifference from the higyenist who kept saying, undeterred, "keep your head down sweetheart", she finished, the doctor came to check for cavities, and the when he had finished and we were waiting for the next appointment date the doctor comes right back and without even acknowledging me, gives my son a pep talk about behaving in the clinic and not being aggressive the next time. Turns out the hygienist told him my son slapped her (which dind't happen, they bumped heads one of the times he gagged and choked, and she knew that perfectly well). Never again. Never again. Whatever you do, do NOT take your children there if you love them. A visit to any dentist may not ever be a comfortable experience, but neither does it have to be competely lacking of consideration, professionality, caring, and a will to work with the patient AND his/her parent.

The nurse wouldn't get off her until the dr finally said to let her go, and I looked at the receptionist and said "you TOLD me y'all didn't hold kids down or restrain them! You straight lied to me!"
