This mini guy named Doc, in my opinion, is not all there in the head space. Got into my face and made threats, all over me wanting him to do what he said he would do which was to correct a few mistakes he or his wife made on the tint installation. I'm thinking Nepoleon complex or maybe high blood pressure. Regardless, please be careful around him. He appears to be possibly unmedicated, under medicated or on the wrong medication. Best customer service in town , I had a piece of film lifting up and I contacted Doc and the next day he re-tinted the window a different quality of film that was originally put on because the original film he put on was out of stock. I noticed when I got home that the glare on the film was too dark to see out of . I contacted him the next day and that night he stayed late to reinstall the film that was originally put on. Back again! My Tesla is the fourth vehicle I brought to doc and his family at beat the heat. This one was a tough job, I bought it with tint already on it but it wasn't up to the beat the heat standard so I had doc remove all of the tint and install new ceramic, 15% all the way around and 50% on the windshield. Not everyone is qualified to work on teslas and I knew doc would be the only guy I'd take this car to. It looks amazing! Another job well done. I have a lifetime guarantee from another well-known Tallahassee shop for my window tinting (Buick Lacrosse). I've had my car for 10 years and had some bubbling in the rear window and one of the side windows. I could have gone back to my original shop (10-yr old tinting holding up well until recently) for a free replacement, however they are not open on the weekends and hard to get an appt. timely. So, after hearing Doc's commercials for years, I decided to give Beat-the-Heat a call. Doc, himself, answered the phone (that was nice) and I discussed my issue with needing new tint on my rear window and side window due to bubbling on these 2 windows. He asked which tint I liked (explaining the available options), and I told him that I always get the highest-level tint. He quoted me a price (for a 2-window job) and said that he could get me in the next morning at 10:00. Well, upon arrival, he said, 1) Oh, this is a removal job, and 2) Oh, the rear window is priced separately.... the price was more than double now. BUT... Doc said, it was a misunderstanding and he'd honor the original price (nice, right). I felt a little bad and owned my part of the possible misunderstanding and added another $75 to the total I'd pay. He was pleased. So, I came in the next morning and he did indeed fit me in and completed the job in less time than he quoted. HOWEVER... after I left and was 'texted' my "give us a review" and a receipt for my payment. I first completed the review, giving them all 5 stars and nice comments... Then I read the receipt. They installed the lesser Obsidian tint on my car, instead of the requested ceramic. You can look at this two ways... "simple mistake" (from a reputable - does this for a living shop), or was it because of the huge discount I got due to the original incorrect quote I was given? When I called, he did say I could come 'right back - only that day' and they'd redo it, but I had family plans and was left with a really uneasy feeling due to the 1) changes in quote prices when I showed up, and 2) putting the wrong tint on as a follow up. I got the inside of my car detailed and all my windows tinted about a week and a half ago. The tint itself is great (besides one part - see below and photos) and the inside of the car was relatively clean, but some of the obvious dirty places weren't cleaned. Everyone was nice and Doc worked with me on the price. Photos: the photos of the brake handle and inside of the wheel with dirt on them are from AFTER I got my car detailed. They were there before and were the main parts I wanted to get cleaned, but it was dark when I left with my car so I didn't see the dirt was still there until the next day. (The dirt was from the previous owner, I had gotten most of the rest off before bringing it in.) The photo of the clean break handle is MY cleaning it - to show that it wasn't just a stain. (I also got the dirt on the wheel off myself). As I said the tint itself is good, and it's a lifetime warranty which is great, however the place that they had to cut by hand is very bad. You can see what that looks like in the photos; that is the part of the rear window where the supports that connect to the car connect to the glass. I suspect if you have windows without places where they'll have to cut by hand you should be good read more

I arrived to no one at the front desk and was told he "assumed" I was with the last group. Then I waited another 10 minutes between him helping others who came after me, then after I finally got there I was told it wouldn't be done till 3 days later. I asked one question and then was told "Seems like you got a dilemma your gonna have to figure out on your own I'm a busy person and don't have time to help you". Complete nightmare for installing audio. Took my new camry in for speaker and sub installation and I've never been more sorry about anything in my life. Dropped it off and came back next day to see my vehicle specific sub box awkwardly backwards somehow, loose wires all over, front tweaters hanging by the speaker wire from the doors, weather stripping was removed from door frame, expensive crossovers were stolen, and many tabs were missing resulting in the door panel coming loose. Needless to say I wasn't pleased and asked the owner if this was normal and he pointed to a no refunds sign and said his audio installer was going through a hard time after a car accident. After the original $300 I was extorted out of another $100 over 2 visits and about 5 more hours of my life to get it cleaned up a bit but my beautiful new car was forever scarred by these scammers. In the end they somehow hooked up my Alpine type x component speakers in such a way that they blew in a year and made my JL W3 sub sound underpowered with a 1200 watt JL amp. I have thought long and hard about my review because I have dealt with this business for many years since he was on Tennessee Street. I have had countless of my vehicles tinted over the past 10 to 13 years. All including the windshield. This past month I have been going back and forth with Doc regarding an issue with my tint being distorted and Not being able to see out of it During the day or night. After speaking with him on several occasions he stated he would fix the issue since the tint had warranty. After speaking with his daughter TK she kept stating oh we are busy and the tint hasn't come in I felt was a bunch of bs. They had gotten almost $500 from me and as A customer I'm asking you to make it right. After speaking with him today he made it very clear customers are not always right and the mere fact of him trying to over talk me made me more upset!! After this I simply wanted the tint removed and a full refund. I'm sorry our business with each other had to end this way. But being in customer service there is A way to handle things. read more

I had my windows tinted here and for 6 weeks I struggled with getting them to look clean (and when I got them done the price magically kept increasing from that which was told over the phone despite providing make/model of car and selecting my chosen film). After being out of town for awhile I was finally able to come in to have them looked at. The owner was wholly unprofessional. He raised his voice at me and was argumentative all while stating "I don't want to argue with you" numerous times. I never once raised my voice but stated I was "unsatisfied" with the work performed. He told me I was crazy and he couldn't see anything on my windows. Another tint shop and a glass shop both confirmed there was something on my windows that appeared to be between the film and the glass. The tint bubbled for days in one window (an experience I've never had - tinted 4 cars) and the front windshield had a substance all over the inside after they finished that took hours to clean off. The owner had no interest in helping determine if it was the tint or just something on the outside of the glass. He told me I should call the cops and to get off his property. Customers saw the incident and left because of it. DO NOT USE! read more

First I want you to know that while reading my review keep these things in mind. I am a car guy (9 cars vintage and new tagged and insured) that rarely takes my cars to a shop to be fixed cause I do it myself, i expect the best, I own a business, have a shop, I have 15 employees, I don't do business with people that treat me bad or have a attitude. I have used Beat the Heat to tint my wife's Honda Odessey, a GSR turbo VW and a1996 Bronco over the last 2 years. I am now taking a 2013 Boss 302 mustang. The reason I'm telling you this is to show that my review is not just one car, it is many over time. The guy "DOC" is a good person, a hardworking honest man. The craftsmanship of their work is top notch. The time he tells you they start on your car and finish is always very close. They use quality film,and explain the many differences in film so you get what you want. The prices are very reasonable. Now there are a few things that might not appeal to you but has no bearing on what you are getting. There place of business used to be a house that is now a business, the waiting area does have cable Rv but the couches are worn out and the showroom is full of boxes of new wheels and tires for sale. They are on Apalachee parkway , but are about 150 feet off the road and is hard to recognise it is their business cause it looks like a home. The place is clean, people are super nice, hardworking , craftsmanship is the best, price is right, and they don't waste you time by making you wait forever cause they overbooked. I live in Madison Fl and I drive 120 miles to have Beat the Heat tint my windows. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! This place is the WORST!!!!!! The owner DOC is horrible, and all of the "reviews" on here are his friends. He will take your money do a CRAP job, and then tell you "OH WELL, WHAT YOU GOING TO DO SUE ME?" He has an F rating on the BBB for not handling his complaints, go check them out before you make a decision. My husband went to him and had his windows tinted under the "Life time warranty" (BAHAHAHAHAHA). There were bubbles, sand, scratches, and not to mention they over shot the window so the tint went above the window so the tint caught every time it rolled up and down. He went back under the "warranty" and was told even though he had the receipt and he wasn't provided with a "business card" they would not honor the "warranty", "they would work with him and charge $35 to re-do the front 2 windows. Once the job was completed we noticed the door panels on both sides were left with glue spots, whomever tried to wipe it down did some with chemicals that stripped the color and bleached the door panels. When we went to let DOC look at it, he was less than willing to help and stated "Oh well that happens sometimes, and I should have told you before hand" He (DOC) wants us to wipe the doors down with amoral to "make it look better". In the course of this situation DOC went back into the office, came out and proceeded to point his finger in my face while I am holding my 2 year old son. He was so close I could feel the spit coming out of his mouth. When I told him he needed to back up, he said well it was my fault and that I walked up on him. I did not walk up on him and no matter what a man should never be so close to a woman holding a two year old that she can feel the spit coming from his mouth and feel the swoosh of air coming from his finger he keeps pointing in her face. Needless to say he does not want to fix anything that was damaged. Please do not take your car here, you will regret it!!!!! read more
