When I arrived for my appointment, the provider refused to see me because the medication wasn't one she had originally prescribed nor was it one she "prefers" to prescribe. She must not be using her glasses while looking in the mirror to actually think she could be confused with someone born in '89.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had my first ever full body scan done here that day and the dr did one biopsy. Told me to expect results in 2 weeks. When I got the email saying my results were uploaded I saw 2/3 said positive. I had to google what they were. Both say melanoma. I never got a call about needing to come back and follow up. All doctor's offices call patients when they get a positive cancer diagnosis. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This staff needs to get their shit together. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at this dermatology office.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I scheduled my appointment specifically to have two moles removed as a new patient and made it very clear on the phone that I was a self-pay patient--not using insurance--so I needed to know all costs upfront.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The scheduler told me mole removal would be $15 each but couldn't tell me the pathology fees, only that sending the moles to pathology was required. I showed up for my 9:30 AM appointment and wasn't seen until 9:55. The doctor came in, glanced at my moles for maybe five minutes, said he'd "slice them off" and send them in, and casually mentioned the pathology would be "a couple hundred dollars," and they'd try to get me a discount--but again, no solid numbers were provided. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told the tech I needed to know the exact cost before proceeding to make sure I had enough on my HSA card.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She came back and gave me the pathologist's number and said because the time it would take to make that call would go past my 15-minute appointment slot, they would have to reschedule my visit to actually remove the moles. At this point, I hadn't received any treatment or service--just a brief consultation that could've easily been handled over the phone. Then they told me I owed $165 for an office visit because the doctor "diagnosed me with moles"... the very thing I already knew and told them I had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked to speak with a manager because none of this made sense. They knew I was coming in to have moles removed. They knew I was a self-pay patient. Why wasn't pricing discussed ahead of time or prepared before my visit?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now I'm being charged for an unproductive visit where nothing was done--just so I could be sent home to make a phone call and come back another day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I hope the manager Tabitha does call me back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As someone who previously managed a clinic, I know that in situations like this, it's reasonable to waive the fee or at least offer a solution. I've never been to a dermatologist before, but I decided to go because my skin was fine until I started developing bad hormonal acne. I saw Anna, and I would strongly advise against seeing her. My first appointment was a joke -- it lasted about 10 minutes. She prescribed medication but didn't bother to explain how to use it or give any real guidance. When I came back after three months because my skin was still breaking out and burning with any product I used, her response was basically, "Oh well, acne doesn't clear up overnight." Excuse me -- isn't this supposed to be her job? I also mentioned that I was trying to get pregnant, and her reaction was even worse. She immediately suggested stopping all medication -- which I understand -- but when I asked how I should handle my acne in the meantime, her answer was literally, "treat it." Seriously? That's her medical advice? [[HIGHLIGHT]]I explained that it would take some time since I need to go through a sperm bank, and the long, uncomfortable pause that followed made me feel like she was judging me. Do not go to this dermatologist it's a complete scam. The front office makes you keep a debit card on file before they even see you and they don't even verify or check to see what it's covered by insurance until after they do the procedure they tried doing a procedure on me today over $1000. Very nice employees and Dr Reese is very nice, but I went for a skin check and he spent a whopping 5 minutes with me and barely checked me out. Certainly wasn't thorough. Never checked my ears, my face, legs nor arms. He didn't check my scalp because I did have a lot of product in my hair and had just worked out, so hair was matted making it difficult to check scalp area. I was very disappointed but I can no longer get into to Dr Zell in spite of the fact I'm an established patient. Oh well. Time to move on, I guess, which is very unfortunate for multiple reasons. I got charged 300$ for the dr to take a flashlight to my scalp and send me somewhere else for 700$ in blood tests and then make me schedule another appt to even have anything done. Then made it impossible for me to even cancel said appt. Would not come here do not recommend. Felt like no one did anything here... or seemed concerned at all. read more

This place is a joke. I should have followed my gut after reading the reviews and gone elsewhere. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called to schedule an appointment for MULTIPLE skin issues. I made this clear when I called.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I saw Anna, who had a bad attitude and was unprofessional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She looked at ONE of my issues, which was numerous painful lipomas (likely hundreds). Their website says they see patients for lipomas, hence why I made the appointment. She said she could biopsy one, but "wouldn't even know where to biopsy"?? I told her I believe I have Dercum's Disease, which she had never even heard of, yet, it's supposed to be diagnosed by a dermatologist. Her colleague googled the disease and Anna, in short, told me to "just live with it". After that, she asked me if there was anything else she could help with. I said yeah, the rest of my concerns", and she told me I need to schedule an appointment for a full body scan (I was under the impression that that is what I was there for), and that each "skin concern" would need to be a separate appointment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She rushed my appointment, lacked any sort of interest or compassion, and upon me leaving frustrated, she was snickering in the back about me like a teenage girl.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you don't like your job and have no interest in helping people, maybe you should find a new career path. Called for an appointment was told by receptionist that I needed a referral from my Family Dr. My Dr's office sent in the referral the same day so I called Beatrice Keller in Goodyear Az the following day to schedule an appointment was told it would take 5 days for them to receive my referral and that they would call me back to schedule my appointment. They never called, guess they just don't need my business. Can't figure this place out since I'm a returning patient with 3 visits at there Sun West office. I prefer female clinicians so I randomly chose PA Emily Jensen. Their messaging pre-appointment was easily understood and the location of their office was quick to find. I had one page to fill out while I waited and was taken back to see PA Emily Jensen. When she arrived I felt comfortable. I described my issues and truly felt that she heard me. I'd been struggling with something for quite a while and didn't want to hear "changing your diet will fix this". We came up with a plan together that fits my lifestyle and I look forward to checking in with her in three months! Check her out! read more

So I've been treated for eczema my whole life. ( same routine / it's not a severe case but enough where I receive a topical steroid prescription every other year ) Well this clinic after 2 years bumps a patient out of the system and you are no longer considered an "established " patient and now considered " new" and have to get in as a "new" patient and you know those appointments book out weeks!!!!! So you can't just refill my script..... I'm no longer established and now I have to wait a month??? Sounds completely ridiculous........... I had my first visit today with Dr. Huls and I have to say that I was very apprehensive going in because of some negative reviews I'd seen on Yelp. I am happy to report that she was nothing but helpful and very friendly. She took her time and explained everything to me that she observed. She was very forthcoming about next steps and seemed genuinely concerned about my issues. She even noticed something that I hadn't that needed to be checked out. Basically I paid for a recommendation because none of the prescribed medication was covered by my insurance and there were no substitutions. I called her Medical Assistant to see if she would submit tier reduction form and she sent a recommendation and called the pharmacy. Next appointment will be with Rita George. read more

Everyone I've interacted with at the clinic has been civil and some are friendly. But their communication is terrible. The receptionist was totally aware that the online check-in link creates an error message, so why hasn't someone fixed it? I was offered a treatment during a routine annual skin check and I asked if it was something requiring a separate appointment. I was told no. We can chalk that conversation up to a miscommunication since it certainly wasn't part of the annual exam and was coded separately. But if what you're offering costs a ton of money, why wouldn't you be open with the patient about that? I get texts and emails about everything else having to do with this clinic; until the point that they are calling me about money I shouldn't owe because I was told it's part of the skin check, and I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. They noted that they left me messages. They did not. This clinic has driven me insane after only two visits, and I'll find a different dermatology clinic. read more

I've been going to this clinic for several years annually for my checkups..most years I have to have pre-cancerous spots frozen off my face but no biggie. This year I went back to Dr. Huls whom I saw regularly before the clinic randomly moved me to another doctor. Well, let me tell you..I was so disappointed with my visit. Dr. Huls acted barely present, rude, unattentive and she did the absolute worst annual exam I've ever had from this clinic..she did freeze two spots on me (one I pointed out) after mentioning acne medication then telling me to get a pro spin facial brush and using that. I won't be going back to Beatrice Keller and I highly recommend the clinic find out what Dr. Huls issue is. She has certainly turned me off of a clinic I've been going to for at least 12 years. read more

The 1 stars are for the pleasant front office staff. Dr. Huls was recommended to me. I called to get an appt for a skin issue that was starting to cause my hair to fall out. They tell me it's a 2 month wait. I went ahead and scheduled because I didn't know what else to do. Well in the meantime I discovered a treatment that seemed to help a bit so by the time I was ready for my appt the issue had cleared up (some) but I still had a few spots (not nearly as bad as it had been). I needed a yearly check anyway so I went ahead with it. Dr. Huls listened to my story with a grumpy expression and then did an exam and said 'yeah I think it's what you thought it was '. Gee thanks for letting me diagnose myself. She proceeded to do the most embarrassing skin check exam I've ever had (with another dr/nurse present) and her bedside manner is horrific and unethical! The good news is I'm cancer free for a year! The great news is that gives me a year to find a different doctor because I will not be returning here. read more

I decided it was time to visit the dermatologist and made an appointment here a little more than a month ago. I was scheduled for June 23rd, but they had a cancellation and I'd put my name on a waiting list to be called in the event that happened. So, lucky me! I showed up here a few minutes later than I needed to, but it wasn't a problem. The staff was friendly and I was seen quickly by Dr. Rita George. She did a full body check and I didn't even feel very awkward wearing the giant paper towel they gave me. She was nice, but still businesslike. I thought the nurse who was helping her was really friendly, but I didn't catch her name. She wound up doing a biopsy on my arm, but they were quick and professional and I have to say, for what was being done it was a pleasant experience. They told me I would get my results in about a week, but two days later they gave me the call and let me know everything was fine (basically, it wasn't the "c" word like I'd feared). She wrote me a prescription and I went and picked it up yesterday at my convenience (basically, before 5pm). If I have any more skin related issues, I'll definitely come here. read more

My worries started as soon as I arrived. I walked into the clinic and saw no one under 60 years old. This isn't a problem at all, this is a dermatologist and it's not surprising the office is filled with older people. But this made me question things...why did I not see anyone younger in here? This is besides the point. After about a 30 minute wait after my appointment (it was busy, about 15 people in waiting room), I finally get called back for the doctor. The assistant sets me down, doesn't ask much besides if I have a pacemaker and if I have any allergies. She leaves and less than 5 minutes later the doctor. I start explaining my issues with acne recently and how this is not in my family so I have no one for help with this and no idea how to really take care of my skin. I told the doctor of my own researchings and she scolded me because I was using moisturizer. I explained that my skin tends to get dry around my mouth and cheek area if I don't and she seemed taken back by this, I'm not sure why but I'm not the doctor. We go over my history and what I recently changed my in life that could cause this (makeup of course) and immediately the doctor starts naming off drugs to prescribe. "Well you definitely need drugs, you obviously have (insert random acne term), (insert random acne term) and (insert random acne term) so you're going to need (insert random drug name), (insert random drug name), (insert random drug name) and (insert random drug name). We both just stare at each other for a while. I had to ask her what the side effects were and how they were used. It felt very much like I was SUPPOSED to know what all of these were or how to use them. Then when I asked about pricing..."Oh, well we are giving you generics so with insurance you shouldn't have to worry". I trust the doctor so I assume this isn't going to break my bank for a little bit of acne treatment...for not even mild acne (acne has cleared up some since making appointment but wanted to come for good measures). So I thank everyone for their help and go to checkout. Turns out some system was down so I wasn't able to put my prescription in for at least another hour, possible 24 hours. The receptionists just looked at me like I was supposed to accept this and guess when my prescription was to be called in. I had to ask them to give me a call if they were able to get it in today, or if not to call me the following day. Of course, no phone calls from the doctor. About 2 hours after my appointment I receive a phone call from my local pharmacy. The pharmacist wanted to verify I was going to be picking up the 3 drugs because they were extremely expensive. AFTER my insurance coverage the drugs ended up being almost $400 total!!! ALRIGHTY THEN. And these were the generic versions. After looking up the pills for the acne treatment I decide I want to avoid the side effects and ask for the topicals only....and to this the pharmacist asks I call the doctor back for a new prescription with only topicals. So I call the doctors office back to find out, because I was a new patient and the system was down I still have not been entered into the system and they called into the pharmacy to tell them my prescription and did not send any paperwork. This is the next day and I am still fighting to find a pharmacy that may accept my additional insurance for this but jesus christ. The receptionists cannot even find any paperwork to provide me the amount of drugs I was prescribed to try to find a second pharmacy - this information had to be obtained from the pharmacy. THANK GOD for this pharmacy they were much more helpful than this waste of a Doctors office ever could have been. This place is definitely looking to swindle you out of your money, I did not get ANY assistance with my questions, the doctor was very rushed (I understood they were busy but can you at least get the details of my background and current lifestyle that could be the cause of this acne?!?!). DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. I mention in the beginning this place was filled with older people, my guess is because they are the easiest to manipulate for money. Why is a patient not in your system the following day and WHY do you not follow up with promised phone calls. Just like my family said, you guys are in it for the money, not the care. read more

There is more than one location of this clinic and I went to the one in Sun City. I was scheduled for a new patient, full skin check, for which I waited a couple of months. I was a few minutes early and out the door in 20 minutes including check in and followup appt. scheduled. An assistant came in and asked me what I was there for. I told her the issues for which I was referred, and I was giving her some additional info, just a few words of explanation for the issues I wanted addressed for which I was interrupted. It was obvious that she just had a checklist of some sort. Handed me a paper gown and out the door. In comes the doctor. The gown was slightly moved aside to look at my skin but my "full skin check" did not occur. The lesions that were of concern to my GP were of no concern to this guy. He used a little flashlight but no dermoscopy was done. I don't think the list that the assistant collected from me was looked at by the doctor as he didn't address all the things on it of which there were 4, and one didn't even get the flashlight look. That was just for file and/or billing purposes. As an aside, when I came in there was one other person in the waiting room and when I left there were two. There were two assistants out sitting at their desk area in the middle when I left - so not exactly swamped. I understand that he has seen much skin and many lesions but this was very cursory. The only treatment offered for my areas of concerns was described as "well we could cut them out and then sew the skin back together but you would have a scar." I am happy to not have anything "cut out" but I am also not reassured that my issues or my GP's concerns were addressed or that there is nothing else short of "cutting them out" that can be done for these lesions. No report has been sent, however, to my GP after more than a month. read more

Wow, dr. Valerie huls was incredibly nice and attentive. She answered every question, listened to everything I said, and thoroughly discussed the information. On average you wait 3-6 months to see a dermatologist in my experience and Dr.Huls was worth the wait. She even ran out my care instructions to my car that I had forgotten. I would recommend making an appointment with her. I was scheduled at 1040 am and taken back at 1042 am, that's impressive for any doctors office. All the staff was friendly and sweet and the office is well kept and clean. Great experience. read more

I scheduled an appointment and was told that Dr. Valerie Huls could see me the following week. I cannot say enough good things about her. She was friendly, kind, professional and extremely thorough. It was probably the best examination I have ever had with a dermatologist. She ended up doing two biopsies and they both came back as squamous. I had no idea that this biopsy would come back cancerous. So very grateful that I made the appointment and so very lucky to get such a kind and compassionate physician. read more

I had a procedure done at another BK location that was incomplete, so I called and crabbed the next day (7-28-16). I was sent back to my regular dermatologist, Dr. Zell, at the BK location in Goodyear the same day. Dr. Zell promptly redid the excision in a much more complete manner, and when I said I thought that neither I nor my insurer should be charged for what should have been done correctly the first time, she agreed.
