Visited on a Thursday morning and enjoyed excellent coffee, oatmeal, and popovers with berry jam and brown sugar, all while listening to live music played beautifully under the tent outside. The space is peaceful and surrounded by flowers, and they provide such a welcoming environment for folks of all walks of life. Breakfast is a "pay what you can" situation, and they have a donation box as you enter. The donations are used to support soup and meal efforts for the local community in the off-season, when budgets and resources are much tighter. I SO strongly recommend visiting and supporting their work by way of enjoying tasty food and good company. Plus, much less crowded than another highly trafficked popover destination on the island!

The lady gets up at 5am every morning to make these popovers and you can taste and feel that in each popover. They had the best maple bacon butter for it as well as some strawberry and blueberry jams. They ask $5 donation per popover and it's worth it. They also do ukele performances on the weekend there (I think Sunday but not sure). The staff are so incredible there.

He told us about the 28 Nobel Prize winners connected with Jackson Labs and recommended taking a tour of the lab. We took a tour the next day. What a great place. It reminded me of other upper echelon academic institutes - MIT, CalTech, Stanford, Chicago. The campus is well situated in the seaside hills just outside the little town of Bar Harbor. The buildings and facilities are state of the art. Peaking through the windows of lab doors confirmed there is a lot of research activity taking place here. What's even more interesting about this place is that they also raise and sell laboratory mice to research labs across America. Their website explains it all. This was a nice addition to my visits to other halls of academia. I definitely recommend a visit.
