Went in for bike oil (My fault for not verifying it was new) I asked for bike chain oil they gave it to me. I bought it didn't take much of it when I applied it to my bike when I was home something seemed off. I looked inside and it was more than halfway empty. I have seen this bike shop numerous times traveling down Beaumont Avenue. One day I found a a Japanese college student traveling across America on his bike stranded on the side of the road. He needed new inner tubes for his tires. I remembered this bike shop because they're always bikes out front and I took him there. The people working there could not have been nicer and more helpful. So he spoke no English and the translator program we were using was horrible they were able to determine what he needed just send him on his way much safer than he had been before. Instead of giving him the thin inner tubes he asked for they recommended thicker inner tubes that would not puncture as easily as the kid had been plagued with flat tires everyday. I had been worried about him because he was going to be riding through the desert and this gave me relieved that his journey would be much safer. They also threw in a bunch of free patches and so lame another item he needed. I had asked them if they sold sodas or water because he was really thirsty when I found him and they gave him a giant Arizona Iced Tea for free and getting bottles of water take with him. They gladly took pictures with him which made his day. They were so kind and helpful I could not have asked for better service. I truly appreciate all the help they gave me that day. It also seemed it at the fact that this will be where I get my three wheel bike I had been dreaming of. One of the things I was most impressed with it was a golden opportunity to oversell and they did not try to sell him things he did not need or take advantage of him. That is very impressive and a smaller shop. I know my new friend will tell his friends stories about the shop and what great service he got and how it was a bright spot in his journey across America. Our son outgrew his bike and we needed a new one for him desperately since that is his main outlet to get his energy out! We tried everywhere to find a bike for him but everything was sold out (again...thanks covid). I was on my was to the dry cleaners when I saw that this shop was open. I immediately called my hubby and told him to go! We didnt know that they closed at 2pm (this was a Saturday) and by the time he got the kids packed up and headed over there it was about three minutes till! The owner was closing up shop but he still let them go in. He was limited on stock and my son had two to choose from and he easily made his decision. I believe it was a Free Agent. They got home by 2:15 and I was sad because I thought they weren't able to go in, but seeing the joy on my sons face as he proudly walked his new bike in the house proved me wrong and made me so happy. If the owner didnt let them in who knows when the next time we would be able to bring him over, or if they would have had anything in stock. So thank you for letting them come in after closing time and making a little boy very happy! Even my daughter walked out happy that day from a special little treat the owner gave her! I had a bicycle inner tube replaced on my rear tire by Rick. He was very friend and he had me in and out in no time. Upon returning home I was unable to put the tire on. After several attempts I decided to phone the shop to see if I could just return with my bike. I spoke to Rick and he instructed me to return to the shop and that he would properly put the tire on for me. He did just as he said he would. He didn't make me feel foolish for not knowing how to put it on. read more

Iam handicap and needed my 2 backed tires fixed for my scooter. I wanted the inner tubes replaced. I had purchased the tubes and had the tires so all that was needed was to put the new tubes in the tires and blow them up - Beaumont Bike Shop wanted $32.50 to do this job. I feel that is way to much money if I had to purchase the tubes from him then it would be a different story or if he was taking the tires off my scooter and putting them back on but he wasn't doing any of that. We just wanted the tube out back into the tires adjusted and blown up done. He wouldn't do it. read more

Went in today to buy my son a new 24" bike, The shop had one other person in there asking the owner for a donation or something. I asked about a Specialized Hardrock 24". The owner dismissed me by saying he didn't sell Specialized anymore, then he turned and walked away. I personally would have suggested a brand I did sell, but that's just me. At any rate, we headed over to Redlands and dropped $500 on a new bike and helmet for my son, and they were so helpful and nice that we spent another $2200 on a new bike for my wife as well. It's a shame that he wasn't more helpful because we would have liked to support our local bike shop. We've bought 2 other bikes from him in the past,and he was never dismissive to us, but I guess he didn't need our business anymore. read more

Do not do business with this bike shop. Took 2 bikes over for tune ups and was charged $135. Got the bikes to the beach and my wife went to get on and ate the curb due to loose handlebars. Called owner (Rick) and was treated incredibly rude. He was condescending said "well that's what happens when you have cheap department store bikes" they had my bikes over a week and never called me to tell me they were ready. Rick and his staff act like they're doing you a favor working on your bike... Excuse me aren't customers suppose to be the reason your in business. I have never had the owner of a business lie and try to cover his staffs lack of competency. This shop won't be in business long treating people this way. The manager hung up on me too! read more

Here's a simple fact to consider: I live approximately 50 miles from the Beaumont Bike Shop, and there are at least 8 full-service bicycle shops closer to my home than that. I drive past all those other shops for all my cycling needs because Rick and the crew at Beaumont Bike shop treat me well, give me honest answers to all my questions (even the stupid ones), and deal with me with respectfully and fairly. No, I am not related to the owner, and I have no connection to them beyond being a very satisfied customer. An earlier comment suggested the owner was unfriendly, and I would like to dispute that most vigorously, To the contrary, he is friendly almost to a fault; I've yet to see him being rude to anyone. In addition to maintaining a comprehensive inventory of new bicycles, he also has a very interesting assortment of classic and vintage bikes, as well as some consignment bicycles that he is selling for their owners. If he doesn't have the exact bike you need, he can usually have it for you in one or two days. If you are considering a bicycle purchase, you should at least call Beaumont Bike Shop, and talk to them. You'll find a willingness to help that has long-since been lacking in so many of the larger shops. Thanks, everyone. read more

He gets a one star only because there is no negative stars. I walked in to have my bike fixed (loose parts) he laughed because it was a Walmart brand bike. Also laughed because he said the assembling was done wrong (assuming it was done by Walmart employee) come to find out wife took the bike in a box and paid to have it assembled by the bike shop. The owner was rude and denied the whole thing and kicked us out of the store just because he couldn't accept that they had made a mistake. WARNING! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BIKE SHOP!... I recently took two bikes into this shop to have them "tuned up" The sales clerk from the get go was somewhat condescending and definately not friendly. I asked about what a "tune up" covered and he said that they looked the entire bike over from front to back. I mentioned that the chain was off of one of the bikes and he said not to worry because when they "tuned up" a bike they checked everything. He told me that he'd have the bikes ready the next day. After not hearing back from the shop for about 4 days, I called and asked if the bikes were ready. The clerk said "oh yeah, we had them ready the next day" and I asked why they hadn't called me. The clerk said we tried to call you. I said well you must have called someone else because I received no communication from you. 2 days later my wife and I drove to Oceanside CA to try out our newly "tuned up" bikes. We had no sooner started out when i heard my wife sau "Oh s--t" and I heard the bike crash, with her on top of it. She said the handlebars were so loose that she lost control of the bike. Thanksfully she was ok. We found a bike shop there in Oceanside and purchased a bike wrench to tighten down her handlebars, and then we decided to call the Beaumont Bike Shop to express our concern that they had evidently not checked the bike as they said they had. I figured for $135 the least I could expect was to not have loose handlebars that presented a major safety issue. When I contacted the store I asked for the manager. The clerk mocked me handing the phone to the manager saying "The guy wants the manager, are you the manager". I began explaining what had happened and realized that this guy was covering for a lack of competency in his staff. He made every excuse he could as to what could have or might have happened. He asked such irrelevant questions about what my wife did once she got on the bike that I realized I was dealing with a moron. I asked for the owner, and "Rick" the owner got on the phone. I started from the beginning again trying to explain what happened and he interrupted shouting over me..."I dont need your life story, just tell me what your complaint is. It became very apparent that the owner was also covering for his incompetent staff. At one point Rick even told me "That's what happens when you have cheap department store bikes, with cheap parts. Then he went off on some tangent about me trying to file a suit against him?? I never mentioned that. He told me that a "tune"up" for bikes only includes a check of tires and brakes....thats it! When I told him about his clerk saying that they would go over the entire bank, he called me a liar. Rick the owner has no concept of how to treat a customer. He even had the gall to tell me after his condescending, offensive and lying conduct that I should buy a bike from him...yeah when hell freezes over! NEVER AGAIN! read more
