There were local vendors selling food to a pediatric dentistry giving out goodie bags to kids. You had to register online prior to the event on order to obtain a ticket for a free Pumpkin. Outside were food trucks for those who needed to wash down the beer. It's family friendly, animal friendly and group friendly. They had tables and chairs for the patrons and free water. Now, I can't forget the live music. It was great. The gentleman singing played some good blues music.

Held about once every other month, Van Weldon, owner of Wood Duck Farm, opens his farm to visitors for a tour and dinner prepared by a chef. The latest dinner held was prepared by Drew Wilson (former executive chef of Benjy's). Our experience started with an informal reception, while we waited for all the guests to arrive. Once everyone was there, we proceeded with the farm tour. Van grows various types of lettuce, tomatoes, herbs, micro greens, broccoli, beets to name a few. He also raises chicken and pigs, all of which you will see during the roughly 60-minute tour. Our dinner consists of food produced by his farm or from surrounding local farms. Chef Drew did a terrific job in keeping the foods simple, allowing the freshness of the food to speak for itself. Dinner was a five-course meal, served family style. Drinks were BYOW however, they do provide water, iced tea and lemonade. If you don't feel like driving an hour away to Cleveland, you can catch Van every Saturday morning at Urban Harvest Farmer's Market in Houston. In addition to fresh produce, he also sells a variety of prepared foods like whole smoked chicken and seasonal soups to name a few.

First driving in, we noticed it was not too busy. Getting out of the car we saw, heard and felt the hustle and hard-work of the employees rearranging plants with equipment and by hand, we heard them working with customers. Walking in, we instantly noticed the goodies on the shelf in the mason jars for sale and the cool outdoor decor for purchase!; we bought one of everything on the shelf and everything was so yummy. My favorite was the fig preserve (so good over cottage cheese and fresh berries. Thank me later ). We wondered around and placed plants together to eye what would look nice together for our backdrop behind the pool. This nursery was so chill (I felt free to just BE and LOOK. Also, there was a man working in the plants that was eager to help and suggested many different plants for the area that would work in the area we were looking to fill. What we purchased: purple ornamental grass and some Snow On The Mountain (sooo pretty, need to get more to fill in). We also bought some corn nuggets, dried banana chips, cucumbers, PURPLE HULL (already peeled and frozen in a bag), okra, and oranges. All fresh fruit and veggies turned out great with our lunch and we tried all the canned goodies as soon as we got home and unloaded all our plants lol!!! ((When)) I go back, I am looking forward to buying one of their whole chickens, more veggies and looking into some of their plants that attract butterflies . I recommend this place. Met one of the owners, Renee Hillman who opened this farm to the public in 2006; sweet lady. The Hillman family are well known in these parts from farms to everything fish/marine life. This farm is beautiful and no doubt, lots of work; I'm very appreciative to them. Today, I enjoyed picking blueberries, herbs and various mints I didn't know existed but am so excited to taste. I'll definitely be a regular from now on. Support farmers. But local.

We have been many times, and love it each time…read more This week (Spring Break) they had "Kidding around with baby goats:" 11 Nigerian Dwarf Goats that were 1-2 weeks old, bunnies, and chickens! They have a playground, and a pop up shop filled with assortments of tomato plants and herbs, homemade goat milk soap, freshies, cowboy candy & jam for sale! All of these products are handmade from ingredients found at the farm! We had the best tour guide for the hayride, Mr. Wilson. Mrs. Renee was in the pen with the goats, and letting a few lucky people bottle feed 2 babies. Melinda was helpful and nice in the pop up shop tent. Nothing was ready to be harvested yet, but we will be back in a few weeks for blueberries.

After they closed their booth their honey was sold at A Moveable Feast we searched for local honey that we could trust which was more competitively priced. We came upon Moore Honey and I remembered them when we toured their establishment ( I kept bees for a very, very brief time). We ordered and they sent our two gallons very well packed and promptly. I literally could eat one every day and love it for a quick snack. Well, recently I was introduced to Bee-Nut Butter made locally in Kountze, Texas at Moore's Honey farm, owned and operated by Chris and Anita Moore. They are real Texas beekeepers producing real Texas Honey. Just one bite and I was hooked. I am a connoisseur of good peanut butter and this is without a doubt the absolute best. It is the caviar of peanut butter. The taste is nutty and sweet. Neither ingredient overpowers the other. There are very, very small bits of peanut, but they are so small I could not call this PB chunky. It spread easily on the bread. I added extra honey for a little more sweetness. One sandwich was not enough, I had to have another. There is no comparison to this Bee-Nut and the store brand. This Bee-Nut is the BEST, along with their honey. Highly recommended and as soon as they replenish their stock I want some more. If you like a great pb&h sandwich, this one will "stick."
