I really appreciated this attention to detail; most receptionists would've just moved along, but she took the time to follow up. The hairstylist was also very sweet, and the scalp massage was wonderful. She asked about where I was going and what the event was to make sure she set the right expectations for my hair. I arrived at 9:00 AM, and the event was at 5:00 PM. Despite all the moving around and set-up throughout the day, my hair looked beautiful all night. It was our first time here and her 1st scalp massage. I called ahead to make reservations on a Tuesday after work and we were the only ones there. It was such a relaxing experience! They were kind and took great care of us. We did the Signature treatment. They start with a scalp assessment with their camera. My tech pointed out my scalp was inflamed, dry and sensitive. I could see it too! And the amount of build up... yikes! I suffer from scalp psoriasis unfortunately too. :( After they took us back to lay down for the scalp massage and treatment. They gave us towels/wraps and I came prepared with a tube top. There are manual leg massagers while receiving the scalp massage. My tech covered me up with a blanket and made sure I was warm and comfortable. I could not believe that was a 90 minute session. The time went by so fast because it was so relaxing! We both enjoyed the scalp massage and agreed we could go without the facial for our next visit. They blow dried our hair and used the LED brush combs after. Then my scalp was reassessed again with the camera and it was sooo clean! The inflammation and buildup was gone. My hair felt so soft. My sister in law loved the experience to celebrate her! The only con was the language barrier. Things weren't explained and our session had minimal conversations. I would have liked to get some pointers and advice on how to care for our scalps after. Luckily, this wasn't my 1st scalp treatment and I knew what to expect. I explained some things to my SIL. They offered us tea yet it was lukewarm. Suddenly in January my hair started coming out in handfuls day and night. This continued for 6 weeks. I have maybe 1/4 of my hair left. I went to see Kristina on Friday just based on her microscope findings there were 2 things going on that were causing my hairloss and 1 of those things was because my internal system was out of balance. Today I went back for follicle testing and learned so much about my body and why I feel like crap. She shared with me all the other things going on inside my body that finally showed up on the outside of me through my hairloss. I have a plan specifically for me now to a journey of treating my whole body AND my hairloss! I highly recommend Kristina and the Well Rooted Hair and Scalp clinic. I saw my Dr and then he referred me to my dermatologist and she just wanted me to start a topical medication. The week of the event, I…read morecalled to modify just my massage because I was five weeks postpartum, dealing with a painful PUPPP rash and stitches in my back from a biopsy. I asked if there was any way to adjust my service, and I was told they would work with me and that the owner would call me that week to discuss a solution. On the day of the appointment, I received my facial (which was fine) and was told again that the owner would reach out soon to arrange something for the unused massage portion. But I never received a call. When I followed up afterward, I was told that because I booked in a group, they would not offer any accommodation--such as store credit or gift card--even after explaining my medical situation. Given that I personally spent $360 and our group spent around $1,800 including tip, I expected a basic level of compassion, especially for a postpartum mom with an ongoing medical issue. I wasn't looking for special treatment, just a reasonable accommodation for a service I physically could not receive. Unfortunately, the lack of empathy and unwillingness to work with me given my specific situation was deeply disappointing. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this spa. A dollar an hour was a standard rate before the pandemic and unfortunately everything is about 50% higher including massage. Personally, the massage I got today felt like it should have been $120 an hour because of how knowledgeable and thorough she was. I hesitate to say her name because I want to gatekeep her, but that's not fair for others who also need work done. Cat was a massage teacher and it is telling. My shoulders and neck have never felt so free from pain. I thought it would always be chronic, but her isometric stretches along with her massage (a CBD pain reliefer) really did the trick. Anyway, I can't speak for their facials but I know for sure there are some talented massage therapists who work here. They give you the full time you pay for (not like some other places that might start 10 minutes late and have you end 10 mins early). I would definitely recommend them over any place in Fresno, especially if you are considering a higher paying place like La Peau. Hand & Stone Massage is better quality massage therapists and cheaper. Trust me and enjoy :)
