I booked services at La Peau in Fresno for a bachelorette party of six. The week of the event, I called to modify just my massage because I was five weeks postpartum, dealing with a painful PUPPP rash and stitches in my back from a biopsy. I asked if there was any way to adjust my service, and I was told they would work with me and that the owner would call me that week to discuss a solution. On the day of the appointment, I received my facial (which was fine) and was told again that the owner would reach out soon to arrange something for the unused massage portion. But I never received a call. When I followed up afterward, I was told that because I booked in a group, they would not offer any accommodation--such as store credit or gift card--even after explaining my medical situation. Given that I personally spent $360 and our group spent around $1,800 including tip, I expected a basic level of compassion, especially for a postpartum mom with an ongoing medical issue. I wasn't looking for special treatment, just a reasonable accommodation for a service I physically could not receive. Unfortunately, the lack of empathy and unwillingness to work with me given my specific situation was deeply disappointing. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this spa. I went in for a lash lift and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. I've had multiple lash lifts in the past and never had issues like this before. After leaving and washing my lashes the next day, I noticed many of them were crooked and bent oddly. The majority of the ends had harsh kinks in them that left my lashes looking almost "L" shaped instead of lifted naturally... L shape was just at the tips. Odd. During the service, part of the perm solution also got underneath the pads and seemed to burn my eyelids. My lids were left red, irritated, and uncomfortable for several days afterward. I tried calling a few days later to discuss the situation and hopefully find a resolution, but unfortunately got nowhere with reception. I ultimately decided to cancel my next appointment. Shockingly Rude Receptionist Grace (Serena) -- Didn't Even Get to Have My Massage UPDATE: read owners response at end!!!! I've never left a spa in tears before, but my experience at La Peau Day Spa today was awful -- and I didn't even get to have the massage I booked because of how disrespectful the receptionist, Grace, was. I called earlier in the day to book a same-day lymphatic massage and asked if there were any October specials. Grace told me there weren't, which seemed strange for a spa but I booked anyway -- a $180 service for 2:00 PM. When I arrived, I had to get Grace's attention to check in. While in the restroom, I saw a sign listing October specials -- including a hot stone massage for $140 (normally $160). When I mentioned it, politely, just to make her aware, she got very short with me. I even said I didn't want to disrupt my therapist's schedule, but she snapped, "Do you want to change it or not?" Eventually, she tried to change it, then told me she couldn't because that therapist doesn't offer that service. I said that was totally fine -- I was looking forward to the lymphatic massage anyway. I also had a gift card from one of their events and asked what services it could be used toward. She kept contradicting herself, couldn't give me a straight answer, and started texting without looking up or responding to me. I even complimented her nails to lighten the mood -- no acknowledgment, no eye contact, just more attitude. By this point, I was uncomfortable but trying to stay polite. When I finally went back with the massage therapist (Marissa, who was lovely), Grace/Serena (the fake name she gave me when I asked because she knew her behavior was disgusting, which I did say but never did I say anything towards her or call her names, I did tell her she mad me uncomfortable and was disrespectful) she kept interrupting and acting like there was some big issue when there wasn't. I was actually shaking from how she treated me. In the end, I was so upset I couldn't go through with the service. Grace "Serena" told me I "made her uncomfortable," after I let her know how much she was upsetting me and making me uncomfortable... which was completely backwards, she sounded desperate to keep herself out of trouble-- I had been nothing but courteous. I even wanted to tip Marissa for her time, but Grace wouldn't allow that either. I will never return to La Peau Day Spa, and I hope management sees this and provides Serena with serious customer service training. No client should be treated this way -- especially not in a place that's supposed to be about relaxation and care. Update: Management /the owner saw this, called me, defended Grace and lied to me... then proceeded to tell me she knows people at Yelp and will be sure to get my review taken down!!! read more

The building is beautiful and fancy and you definitely will get royal treatment. I'm always greeted with a warm welcome and beverage offering. They recently expanded and have a whole new area for their cool toning, sculpting, injectables. Etc The European facials are super relaxing and they customize the skin care products depending on your type of skin. They also have really fun events! With Djs, open bar and yummy snacks and deals. Been here a number of times for facials and massages. Each time has been excellent until today, everything was good until she reached my legs and feet. I am 90% sure my masseuse was falling asleep on her roller chair as she was messaging my feet. She had great even pressure the whole entire message until my feet, at one point she completely stopped rubbing my feet but was still holding onto my foot and I had to give it a little wiggle to alert her. Most awkward experience ever and more than likely will not be returning. Get it together girlfriend, this is a service people are paying good money for and your job. read more

I received an online giftcard from an out of state sibling, to La Peau. I scheduled a massage. A 1.5 hr massage at $200. But I received a 1hr 10 minute massage only. When I mentioned this at checkout, the cashier informed me that MASSAGE CHARGES "INCLUDE YOUR CHANGING TIME" FOR WHICH THEY ALLOT TEN MIN AT THE BEGINNING AND TEN MIN AT THE END OF YOUR 90-MINUTE BLOCK. All I had to take off or put back on was a bra and a loose-fitting sundress. That takes me 1 minute on each end of that time block! YOU WILL ALSO BE CHARGED MASSAGE MINUTES FOR USING THE RESTROOM during your appointment time. "You took time to use the restroom," the cashier said. "Right at your appointment time you used the restroom." (To pull up one's dress, urinate, and wash hands does not take but three minutes, and the restroom is right there in the office, not somewhere far away.) Are you getting the picture? This is what we call a scam. A high end scam. I have had at least 100 massages in my lifetime, locally, out of state, out of country. NEVER EVER have I been charged massage minutes to change or use the restroom until La Peau. THEY CHARGED 20 MASSAGE MINUTES for what took me 5 MINUTES. At close to $3 per minute, be prepared to be scammed $40-$45 for dead time that you are waiting on the table for the masseuse to return once you have removed your clothing and another chunk of dead time they have allotted for you at the end to put your bra and dress back on. That's about $45 I could have tipped the masseuse. At the end of the day, your massage relaxes you ONLY long enough for the receptionist to let you know you are being scammed, the news of which tenses every massaged muscle right back up, plus escalates your blood pressure. DEFINITELY LESS THAN IDEAL. I can afford to frequent high end places, but will gladly revisit my lower-brow spas/masseuses, which are pretty marvelous in their integrity as well as their massages. I would gladly pay more for that. Note: The spa policies section on the website says to come early to relax and unwind and to let staff get to know your beauty needs. They should add that you will be filling out paperwork and that this would be the time to change or use the restroom so you can enjoy your full purchased massage minutes. I've visited this spa at least half a dozen times for massages over the last few years. While the massages themselves have generally ranged from good to wonderful, my last two experiences at checkout have left a lot to be desired. About a year ago, I booked a couples massage and informed them at the time of booking that I planned to use a gift card that covered two massage services. After a lovely massage, we were met with a surprisingly cold and dismissive front desk experience. We were told the gift cards couldn't be used that way, even though we had done the same thing before, and because no manager was present, we were required to pay out of pocket. We were told someone would follow up, and while the manager honored the gift cards (calling it a "one-time exception," though there were no clear exclusions), we had to return in person to get the refund and turn in the cards, which took 45 minutes. Frustrating, but I let it go. I returned this morning, hoping for a better experience. Once again, the massage itself was great, but the checkout process soured the visit. I attempted to pay with two $100 bills to avoid the 3.99% card fee they have noted on a small sign. The receptionist simply said, "I don't have change for $100," and made no effort to find a solution. I waited, assuming she would offer alternatives or ask a colleague, but instead, she repeated herself with no sense of urgency or concern for customer service. When I asked if I would be charged the card fee, she replied, "Well, yeah, since you're using a card," in an unnecessarily rude tone. I explained my frustration of still having to pay the card fee even though I brought cash, and her response was short and cold, stating, "Well, maybe you should have brought smaller bills." I understand that $100 bills aren't always the most convenient, but they're still legal tender. It's not like I was trying to buy a $2 candy bar; I was using it for an expensive service in an industry where cash is frequently used for tipping, and at this establishment, to avoid surcharges. After two checkout experiences marked by poor communication and unprofessional attitudes, I've decided not to return or recommend this spa to others. I booked an appointment here over the phone for a Botox consultation at 10AM. I received a confirmation text with a link to fill out information about myself, which I completed. I got there a little before 10AM and the office is completely closed. I searched the hours on Yelp, which listed it to open at 9AM. On Yelp it also said the hours were updated a week ago! I walked downstairs to the other open offices and asked them if they knew what time the spa opens, they also said it should be opened already. They were so kind and said they would call the spa for me. I walked back upstairs to wait. The girls finally arrived and were very apologetic. They were expecting me at 11AM. At the same time, they said my appointment wasn't booked for 10AM because I didn't have a card on file. It didn't make sense if I am booked for 11AM and missing a card on file? I still think if the hours said 9AM, they should have been opened anyway because they sell products! I proceeded with the consultation, giving grace. At the end of the consultation they told me it was $50, which I was unaware. I wasn't told this over the phone or at check in. I paid and I left. The injector is also only there once a month, which does not allow for flexibility. I would recommend going elsewhere for your Botox needs. read more

I booked a 1 hour Swedish Fusion massage and was ready for some much needed tension release. Savanna L. Was very nice and friendly. My massage was at 2pm but started at 2:06 and ended on 2:56. Just a recommendation that it would be great for staff to ask the guest if they want to go to the restroom and have them in their room to undress 2-5 mins early so they are getting that full hour massage that they paid for. By the time I was done using the restroom and undressing, time have already passed. My massage was relaxing, BUT did I feel like it did anything to me, not really honestly. And I hate to say it but there was little technique used when I got massaged. When she was working on my back and neck, it was not too bad, and she did ask if I was doing okay. Once she started on the arms, legs, and feet, I felt like there was no effort. When she was working on the arms and legs, it was just down and upward motion with little pressure. Did not feel like anything was done for me on those parts. Once she got to the feet she put a warm towel that felt nice, and once that was done, she just did a two stroke massage on each foot and that was it. When the massage was done I really did not feel like my body was worked on much. I don't get disappointed much, but definitely felt like the experience was NOT great because I felt like I wasted my time and money. I was offered some tea and told I can relax at the lounge. The staff was friendly in the front when I checked in and offered me water. I got to check out the front lobby area where many different items are being sold such as lotion, charms, candles, and many gift like items for yourself or someone. Love how inviting the place is and the restroom is very clean and lux. The lounge is a great place to decompress after your massage. There is water there as well. They offer facial services, acne treatment, lashes, facial waxing, advanced facial services, chemical peels, advance body services, massages, body services, and different packages. They also offer spa and laser services such a hair removal, tattoo removal, micro blading, and many more. I am interested in coming back and trying a different massage hoping it'll be a better experience. read more

I was quite embarrassed with my experience at this spa. I had booked an early galentines experience with my bestie from San Francisco. I booked us both Swedish massages and was told when I booked to come early to enjoy their room. My friend had just come in from SF and was so tired so we were looking forward to unwinding. We got there about 45 minutes early. We were not greeted by the staff in a friendly way at all. We were taken to the back and told to put our robes on. We were not offered any drinks or anything at all. I was a little annoyed but tried relaxing. Next thing you know people come in with drinks in their hands and before I could even say anything we were whisked away by the masseuse. My massage was good but my friend said she had the worst massage she ever had. She tried communicating and telling her the needs including her backache but she was not listened to at all. She came out of it with worst pain. There was also another couple in there with their drinks. We quickly got dressed and were asked to leave a gratuity. Not thanked again by the front desk workers. My Estitician his name was Kaitlyn and she was very thorough. She asked some initial questions about my skin and my regimen and really knows her stuff. She loves her job and it shows. I loved that she was firm in the massage my face for my facial and I did tell her That I don't mind extractions and to get really in there to get them out. I come here all the time whenever i visit fresno .I usually get their deep tissue massage, facials, and lash lifts. Their deep tissue massage is very good! For me it was the right amount of pressure and the person massaging me found all of my knots and focused on them. Overall very pleased with this service. With their facials i really like their products that they use because its very gentle with my sensitive and acne prone skin and i love that they use a very soft brush to apply some of their products. After every facial they will also give recommendations on what your skin needs in order to improve it. And feel free to ask them for any suggestions or concerns as-well, they are very open minded. Lash lifts, as a asian girl with monolids its very hard finding a place that can get my lashes to curl and be visible but this place is the best place for me to get my lashes lifted because my lashes stay curled and visible for 4-6 weeks and is definitely worth the money. Tried La Peau a 1-2 years or so ago and at that time, I thought it was an off experience so I decided to try La Peau again today. Scheduled a 60-minute massage and I arrived about 15 minutes before the massage. The front desk service was personable. The ambience was inviting as previously. However, the problems started once the massage started. It would be nice if the masseuse introduced herself by name... I mean literally I'll be half naked in a room with you in a few minutes. The least you can do is introduce yourself. We started about 5-minutes after the hour and ended 5 minutes before the hour -- making this a 50-minute massage. The masseuse did check on the pressure. However, there were periods of when she would simply just pause and stop massaging. No, she was not getting oil or hot stones or towel. She, legit, just paused holding my arm or her hands were just simply on my back. After the massage, I was still so sore and tight as if I didn't even get a massage. It's a great place to sleep for a lot $$$ but if you are expecting a real massage try out Muses for a much better experience and if you just want someone to massage some knots out without the frills, I'd highly recommend getting a chair massage at Foot Reflexology at Cedar and Shepherd. This was a underwhelming experience with mediocre customer service. For the amount of money they are charging, you have SO many better options in Fresno/Clovis area. read more

I left very annoyed today. I was sent my annual birthday 10 percent off. I use it every year. Normally I book a massage and a facial but this year I decided to book a package. I just had twins and I was trying to treat myself. I told the receptionist at booking I had a birthday 10 percent coupon. She assured me that even though I was putting down a deposit that my coupon could still be applied to the package and that it would all be worked out at the end. Cool. I put down 160 dollars as a deposit for a 320 dollar package. The total with my discount should have been 320-32(10 percent) = 288. I paid 160 in advance, so my total at the end should have been 128, plus tip, which I always leave. I get to the end of my relaxing day and go to pay- and first the receptionist tells me that because I paid a deposit she can't take my coupon and I could use it some other time?? It's a birthday month coupon and it's Jan 27th. So no. Then she figures out how to work the computer and tells me it's not off the entire package, it's just one service in the package and she "doesn't think" the coupon applies to packages. And she "doesn't think" I should be able to take 32 dollars off my service. Nowhere in my email does it say it doesn't apply to packages- just not discounts or promotions. Which this wasn't, this was something off their menu. I have applied it to my total visit multiple times in the past. Then in all of this arguing my gift card gets forgotten. I'm just really annoyed- I get one day to myself. And it was completely ruined at the end. I told her I wanted someone to call me, still waiting on that. read more

I love that this is a boutique spa. It is quaint but quiet; nicely decorated and welcoming. Upon walking in you are immediately met with a greeting by whomever is in the front. They have ample seating and a wall of personalized products with their branding. What is different about La Peau and Muses is that there is no private lounge, sauna, or bathroom with amenities here. While these things are non-negotiables for some, it isn't for me. La Peau masters the boutique feel well and there are just the right amount of employees that they remember you, the services they provided to you in the past, and honest recommendations for future services. This is no bash to Muses, as I do enjoy their additional amenities very much, but it is nice to flip the script a bit. Honestly, this spa gives me the "right out of a Hallmark movie" vibe, because of it's size and "personality." My masseuse was Sarah T. and she was phenomenal from the get go. She was ready for me when I arrived and offered me a beverage prior to my service. What really makes Sarah different from others are the little things she did. -The bed was already warm when I arrived and she was happy to adjust it during my service when I requested -She reads your paperwork and tailors the massage to YOU -She gives you a weighted mask for your face when you turn over which honestly, is LIFE. I need to order one on Amazon because it relaxed me immediately -She puts aromatherapy into the air so that you are relaxed and continue to relax throughout the service -She puts a heating pad on you after she finishes with one body part -MY FAVE: At the end of the service, she wraps your feet in damp, warm towels before she works on them. I have already made another appointment. While I've had amazing massages, I appreciate the little "extras" that Sarah thinks of. One thing I would appreciate, and assume it was a one time thing, is the timing of the Cryo services across the hall. About 20 minutes into my service (where I was the most relaxed), the Cryo machine comes to life, as well as other (inaudible) voices. It lasted about 5 minutes, but it really messed with my vibe. That is one of the downsides of a smaller spa; the spacing is close. As a comparison, both La Peau and Muses charge $100/hr for a Swedish massage. A pricing difference I discovered was that La Peau charges an additional $10 for a deep tissue whereas Muses does not. Hopefully my next visit will be uninterrupted! read more

All the staff and technicians are all nice, but very young and inexperienced. 5 minutes into my "deep tissue massage", I knew immediately my masseuse was very inexperienced. She was incredibly gentle despite asking for more pressure. I didn't pay $140 to have oil softly brushed on me with weak and shaky unconfident hands. That was the worst massage I've ever had. She answered all my questions and made sure that I felt comfortable! I absolutely love my results and mad that I didn't go in sooner. I was looking for a spa super last minute but they were able to squeeze me in for a facial and massage right when they opened. I did the European facial and a Swedish massage which were $100 and 1 hour each. The facial includes a neck and shoulder massage, and extractions which targets blackheads or in my case, any breakouts. Laura did my facial and I swear, instead of a palm reader, she's a skin reader LOL. She could tell things about my skin that confirmed I was indeed normal to dry skin and have pink undertones. The facial was amazing and she walked me through everything she was doing and was careful with the extractions. Theresa was my massage therapist and she was super sweet and asked before we began if there were any specific spots I wanted her to target. I sit a lot for work and told her I get occasional pain in my back. She did a great job. I was ready for a nap when it was over. My husband and I booked a Valentine's Day couples massage at Le Peau Spa, a place we have gone a few times, and what followed was a very frustrating experience. When booking, I specifically asked if rescheduling would be an option if needed, and an employee assured me it was. Unfortunately, on the morning of our appointment (February 15), I woke up with a 103-degree fever, body aches, and severe symptoms. We immediately called the spa and spoke with Serena, who was very kind. She seemed unsure of our not being able to make the appointment, I even told her that if rescheduling was going to be a problem, I would push through and come in because, honestly, a massage would have probably helped my body aches. She assured me that wasn't necessary and told us a manager's approval was needed to reschedule. She also promised a manager would call us on Monday, February 17, to resolve it. She mentioned that Despite everything they still had to charge our card the rest of the $260 that day, knowing we would not be able to attend. We waited for the call from the manager but it never came. We followed up multiple times that week and kept getting the runaround. After days of back-and-forth, we were finally told we could only receive half credit, meaning we'd have to pay an additional $130--bringing our total cost to nearly $400 for a single massage now, not even a couples massage. That was never communicated upfront, and had we known, we would have just kept the appointment, illness and all- and spread my flu to them all. This is when we insisted on speaking to the manager. Weeks later, I finally spoke to a manager, Alma, who offered the same, just one massage at half price while keeping the full $260 we had already paid. When I asked to speak with the owner, she refused. I then asked if she would at least forward my emails to the owner, and she promised she would. It is now the end of March, and despite multiple follow-ups, I have received zero responses. I really wish I would've just went in and to have our couples massage that day, and all of this could've been avoided. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. We have since found a new amazing place for couples massages. read more

I highly recommend Michelle for her massage skills. She has given me several massages and they are the best!! I am always impressed with her ability to relieve my muscle tension and stress. Michelle is very knowledgeable about the body and how to massage different muscle groups to achieve the desired results. Wow I feel so relaxed. Always feel amazing when I leave this spa. Gaylene was an awesome masseuse. She had an awesome technique working on my back, which is always tight. The second you walk in you experience the awesome customer service Jeanne gives you at the front desk. My coworkers even came here and love their lash lift services. I can't wait till my next service. Jeanne recommended I try cupping on my back since I have pain sometimes. They're even quick to respond on Facebook messenger regarding any appt questions.
