I never got a solid plan, they hard-sold me high, promising we would reduce it, just to make me sign the contract. (my first mistake) Of course, those meetings to discuss my priorities and reduce the budget, never came. My dream wasn't realized as they either vetoed, forgot or bumbled each feature of my design. Examples: I have a wavy wall, it took them days to correct the paint throughout the house, they flat refused to match my craftsman trim, they forgot my vented kitchen hood, vetoed my transom (they don't even know what that is), failed plumbing inspection three times and nearly blew up my house. (I'm not embellishing) Had to install the cabinets twice (ordered incorrectly and hung at the wrong height), the rough plumbing is so poorly done that the knobs don't sit right and turn lop-sided; failed to contain the renovation dust which covered even stuff inside cabinets and drawers throughout the house. The cleaning crew came multiple times and I still had to hire my own at a cost of $360, to get all the ceiling fans, fixtures, floors, etc. finally clear of dust and paint splatters. They scratched my hardwoods and damaged my stove. To top it off, they stopped paying the subs and one of them put a lien on my house, EVEN though, i was up to date on my payment arrangement. (Yes, that's totally legal, for some reason!) The drama continues as I need help correcting some issues that i don't feel I should have to live with. My wife and I tried to help out him and his family with money and belongings from people around our neighborhood. 1 year later Garamy's company Modern Day Renovations started several projects at my house (kitchen, laundry room, dining room, and living room) was to be redone, we were excited, Garamy asked for $9200 down with a total bill of $27500 total, we thought that was an excellent price until we started and found out why. First it was suppose to take 3 months to finish kitchen and laundry room well after 6 months it's 90% done, due to they only work 3 to 6 hrs in a day no weekends, and his helper is in the bathroom or outside smoking 2 hrs out of the day and he would throw cigarettes butts in our driveway or on the street in front of our home. Second they didn't put anything on the floor or hand up dust barriers so our home is completely dusty through out. Third they painted our cabinets in the kitchen and now we have overspray on our new granite counter tops, floors, walls, and even on our neighbors drive way. Forth after I paid him $16000 dollars before they were done (I know I shouldn't have done that) they didn't show up for 2 weeks and when they did work it was done with a lot of short cuts because they wer trying to finish quickly due to they already been paid. Finally they have started 5 or 6 different projects in our home none are complete and stuff is coming apart, we had a big light fixture above our island fell and broke into a lot of pieces, my wife and I fired Modern Day Renovations before the holidays and we are going to try to recoup some of our money that we paid and didn't get the work done or having to have someone else to redo his work.
