I ordered an prehung exterior door mahogany with mahogany jamb. It came with the bottom of…read morethreshold 1/2 wider than the the top and thus was out of square. The bottom threshold had to be removed and cut down 1/2 inch and reassembled for door to made square. The door rubber seal on the bottom of door had a stable that was a shiner and it was left bend over on the rubber. It almost scratched the black threshold leaving it beyond repair. The assembler did not check for the dent stable and left it. The assembler also shied a stable in the side to top jamb and it was driven out the bottom of jamb into the door so door could not be opened. The door had be forced open leaving scratches in the door. The company only offers 4 9/16 jamb width and no option for 4 as most companies do . As result my door stuck extra 9/16 into the room and the door casing on the inside had to shimmed with custom 9/16 strips to fill gap. The wood veneer also does not match and the bottom rail was almost white instead of the mahogany reddish brown. This company should be ordered from. Their quality control is bably lacking and they are using non matching veneer to cut cost . The first installer left the job and refused to install it . I

The "tempered" glass from Pilkington (China) does not have dp ratings therefore you can not get product approval for building code. They will not disclose "overseas" company they order from. Salesman that assured me of specifics had no memory of conversation and tried to talk in uneventful circles. While discussing return the restocking and delivery would consume most of my return. Also, order was missing (2) doors. They know which products do not pass requirements and sell them to you anyways without disclosure. If I had more time I would sue to save you the headache.

At one stage, three of four storm doors lacked essential operating hardware. We had to ask: Can we secure our home tonight? Could we use these doors during an emergency? Is our child safe? We could not postpone urgent corrections indefinitely while the owner blocked us, so on our own, we hired consultants to investigate the concerns and offer recommendations. The project was expected to be completed March 16-20, 2026, but remained unresolved months later. Hawkins continued demanding $9,577.20, which we disputed based on incomplete work, corrective costs, credits, reduced scope, and the undelivered door. TLDR version: We spent $10k on doors that have leaked since day one. The warranty isn't worth the…read morepaper its written on. DON'T BUY THEIR DOORS! Here's the full story: The brutal Texas sun has never been kind to our west facing front doors. In fact, it wants to burn them to a crisp! Before we fully grasped this concept we mistakenly bought doors made of solid wood. Over time they badly faded, cracked and split. The doors were basically destroyed in a couple of short years, but they weren't going down without a fight! They wanted to take our entryway hardwood floor down too. The door cracks allowed water to seep in which buckled, warped and molded the hardwood floor. Obviously they HAD to go. This is where Designer Door & Window comes in. When we visited their showroom looking for new doors Steve gave us a great sales pitch. His doors were durable! Beautiful! The best doors ever! That all sounded well and good but at the time we just desperately needed ones that didn't leak. Of course he swore to us that that would not be a problem at all. Two months later and $10,000 poorer we got our new Provia doors installed. I have to point out here that we did ask Steve during the ordering process if we could move the speakeasy windows down slightly so we could better see out of them. He obliged but didn't make it clear just how low they would be. When the doors arrived I took one look at them and my heart sank. The speakeasy windows were practically in the center of the doors. It looked odd and ugly. But it was too late to do anything at this point as these were custom made doors. And as long as they didn't leak I guesssss I could live with their unattractiveness. But they did leak, A LOT!!! About a month after installation Steve made his first house call to deal with the already leaking doors. Then over the course of the next couple years he came out several more times to service the continually leaking doors. He made adjustments here and there, replaced seals and reattached hardware, all the while assuring us that THIS TIME the doors were fixed for good. He also disclosed that Provia is a company based up north so they hadn't originally designed their doors to withstand our Texas heat, which may explain all the issues we were having. Now roughly 2.5 years later I get panic attacks when I hear thunder rumbling because the rain leaves puddles inside the doors to this day. And, the hardwood floor (that was replaced at the same time as the doors) has buckled and warped again as a result. Steve stopped coming out to service the doors several months ago even though they are still supposed to be under warranty. But it's not like his solutions ever effectively fixed the problem anyhow. Saying that this entire experience has been a nightmare would be a gross understatement. So it bears repeating, DON'T BUY THEIR DOORS!
