Our fence needed to be re-stained along with a few minor repairs, and the work the company provided overall was good, and the original price negotiated was fair. However, when it came time to pay the balance upon completion of the job, Craig (the salesperson/owner) said that he needed to charge us more than what was originally negotiated because we had more repairs than initially thought. We agreed to pay a portion of the additional amount requested but not the full amount--Craig tried to use high-pressure tactics and we weren't having it. My recommendation if you use the company, which seems to do decent work, is stand firm on your negotiated price and don't allow Craig to pressure you into a price adjustment when it comes time to pay the balance on your job. UPDATE 8/8/2020: After reading Craig's ridiculous response to my review, which was a completely fair review, I would strongly suggest that you NOT use his company and I will make sure that I caution people from doing so should they express a need for fence work. Craig's lack of professionalism is evident in his comments which are exaggerated and indicative of the way he operates: intimidation and pressure. Craig does great work and is very cost conscious. He won't try to upsell you on things you don't want, and he will provide you with cost effective solutions to any problems you might encounter (previous posts aren't aligned properly for corners for example). When there were some issues with his crew, he came out and worked the job himself with some help. Those kinds of things happen in any construction or contracting business, so it was great to see an owner who took accountability for his business and stepped up to the plate instead of telling me "sorry, you'll have to wait". I got 3 bids for removing a chainlink fence on my back retaining wall and another fence that was in front of it, installing an 8' BOB prestained cedar fence on the retaining wall and installing a driveway swing gate with remote control operator. Craig came out and we went over everything I wanted and he gave me a bid which turned out to be the the lowest bid. When I was ready to start Craig had his crew there that same day and went over all the details of he job. I had ask that they first remove the chainlink fence then set the post for the new fence before removing the other fence so we would not be exposed to an open alleyway at night. Over the next 2 days Osman and Pablo took down the chainlink fence and core drilled the holes for the new fence posts in the retaining wall and then set the new posts. They then removed the old fence and finished the new fence the same day so we were never open to the alleyway for a night. The new fence looks great and the driveway gate is operating perfectly. My only complaint is I have been finding some of the chainlink fence parts, screws, nuts and bolts from the old fence where they were missed in the cleanup but overall I would definitely recommend Craig and Budget for anyone's fence needs. read more

KEEP LOOKING. they over promise and under-deliver. I wanted them to match an existing fence and they said no problem however the new fence is RED when the existing fence is brown. They claim it matches and offered no solution. They blew out my outside electric outlet causing me to get an electrician and rack up $315 in fees, again no solutions as they claim the outlet was broke when they got there. IT WAS NOT. However, all of these are small compared to the fact that they wrote into the contract that they would pull my city permits which Craig said costs $150 to pull. So after being pressed into paying half and getting discounts if i agree without getting other quotes they proceeded to get started and wasted no time and torn down my old fence in one day. Then in day 2 they come and start putting up new fence only to have my city come by and stop all construction because no permit had been filed. David blamed it on his secretary (way to own the issue). Needless to say the city stopped work and we had to go 4 days with orange construction fence in-front of our yard because they had not even attempted to file for city permit even though they claimed it was set pending approval (i know because i called the city). The city warned us any work done would be a fine to the homeowner not the fence company. When i complained to David Bush of Budget Fence N Deck he offered apologies and claimed the fine would be only $40 double the permit and they would take care of it. $40????? Craig said it was $150 seems to many lies to me. Every time i spoke with David or Craig they treated me like if i was an inconvenience to them? WHO is the customer here. AWFUL experience. I WOULD NEVER USE this company or recommend them again. David did take $300 off the total $5200 bill but still not worth the mismatched fence and the service received. Also i checked them on BBB before and could not find them but after i searched harder i found them under a different name of Budget Fence/Deck (No letter "N"), and guess what 6 negative complaints and one VERY VERY similar. So i guess after they get a few complaints they change name. If i could do it over i would have sent Craig away the day he came by for my quote any promised savings are not worth it, ZERO VALUE read more

Update: Precision Garage Door of Dallas had to make multiple repairs to the driveway gate Craig installed. Precision ran the serial number of the gate motor only to find that the motor was discontinued over year ago by the manufacturer due to an internal short that caused the motor to burn out. This means that Craig installed an outdated and discontinued motor on our gate, which is the reason why the gate stopped working a couple of months after installation. Craig also did not attach the arm of the gate sufficiently and did not reinforce the gate appropriately. So, the first springtime wind caused the arm to dislodge from the gate, rendering the entire thing useless. We have now paid Precision $1, 700 to install a 2015 motor and fix Craig's shoddy workmanship. Please don't experience the same expensive frustrations we have. Just call Precision for all of your garage door and mechanical gate needs. read more

I hired this company to stain my deck. They completed the bulk of the job, but still had some places to finish. The guy on the job promised to come back and finish and leave some extra stain for a wet place where my AC had been dripping. Long story short, it never got 100% finished. After talking to the owner, I learned he sent a subcontractor to do the job. He said if he had some extra stain around, he would give it to me to finish, but he "doesn't keep extra stain around." I was cited by the City of Garland for have a leaning fence. After fixing the lean, I was cited for having fence supports that were more than 10 degrees off. It was the way it was built and approved by the City of Garland and stood for 25 years. To repair a fence that old was not an option. After contacting Budget Fence by email, I got a fast pre-estimate. His price was below what others were asking. Craig then came out and measured everything and gave me options for a nicer fence. I ended up spending a little more to get a nicer looking fence. Work commenced a few weeks later after he got the Garland city permit. Removed my existing fence which was in poor shape. Next day started work on building. I have a pool so I needed a retaining wall also built besides the fence. I opted for a 6' side by side fence with cedar planks and trim. Kelly and his crew worked very hard. There were a couple on unexpected problems along the way, but Kelly was able to fix the issues and went out of his way to make sure I was happy. After a couple more days it was finished. They hauled everything away also. In order to pass inspection with the City of Garland, they had to adjust the gate latch and add springs. I just read the post from Craig. When I wrote the post it was to warn others not to use this company. Now I am defending my post. I paid a thousand dollars more for this company because of their website and the nice gentleman they sent to measure and give me a quote. What I got was a subcontractor whose work was so bad I had to hire another company just to get it where the neighbors dog couldn't walk into my yard. They charged me for posts and hardware and then used the existing materials. They dug up one side of the yard's fence to move it 3 feet over (which is what I wanted). I couldn't believe it, but they dug up the posts attached to the concrete and placed them in new holes and poured concrete around them. Good fence builders? I think not. They had my permission to keep the existing poles down the driveway because they were level and didn't need to be replaced. I specifically told them to replace the ones along the alley because they had been hit repeatedly by large trucks doing construction behind my house. I was charged for new posts and hardware all the way around. They didn't listen (or couldn't understand because they spoke very little English) and used the existing bent posts and old hardware. When Craig called to collect, I told him I was not happy with the job and we needed to adjust the price. He immediately told me (without even looking at the fence or hearing why I thought their needed to be an adjustment) I would pay in full when he got there, or he would immediately put a lean against my house.He knew I was in contract negotiations on the sale and that having a lien against my property could stop the sale. He brought his wife or girlfriend (I don't know if he is married) with him (very unprofessional) who sat in the truck while he bullied me into paying him. He stated in his comment that he knew I wouldn't pay him if I charged it. I have NEVER not paid my bills. I AM AN HONEST WOMAN who was cheated. I got cheated out of the points on my credit card as well. I stand behind what I stated 100%. My husband was an architect and pounded into me the importance of things being done right. I know the difference between a job being done correctly and not being done correctly. I also know the difference between right and wrong. This was so very wrong. read more

we had to call the plano police department and file a report. so.....these guys were staining a fence and let all the over spray get on peoples homes and on our 2 week old white truck. i tried speaking with craig and asked him to resolve the situation, but instead he was very rude and hung up on me. well....the next day we tried again and he told us that he was not responsible for the people he sent out to do the job. what??? not responsible for the teams he sends out??? really??? now we are having to take the next step to resolve the matter. warning to others !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
