Please save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. I wish I would've listened to the other reviews. This person should not be allowed to interact with others. First of all, upon my arrival at the doorway, he was sweeping and had a phone between his ear and shoulder. Without looking at me to acknowledge I was there, he held up his pointer finger at me to tell me to wait/hold on. Not my idea of a warm welcome, but I am a believer in giving people the benefit of a doubt. I booked an appointment through his website and in order to do so you have to enter a credit card. I went to my appointment and we decided it would take more than the time we had scheduled to do what I really wanted and we'd have to reschedule. I said I would reschedule later when I could be in front of a computer to move things around on my busy schedule. That night I received a $100 no-show fee. I called him and he told me that I should've rebooked with him when I was in there then he wouldn't have had to charge me a no-show fee. I showed up for my appointment so a no-show should not have been applicable, and if he was planning on charging me that, he should have told me when I was in there so we could've rescheduled. This was one of the strangest hair appointments I've ever had in my life. I bought a Groupon for a full highlight, and I made the appointment with no issues. The salon is a small space in a mega building full of other stylists. I've never been to a place like that before, so I looked up Rodney's space on the directory and went to the his salon area. He was on the phone when I got there and gave me the "I'll be with you in a minute finger" as he was on the phone. No biggie, I'll just wait. A minute later, he opened the door and snippily asked me to go wait in the waiting area as he was on a VERY important phone call. I almost left after that because I had a bad feeling, but whatever, I already paid, so I decided to stick it out. After I finally got seated and told him what I wanted (and was told that toning would be extra, which wasn't stated in the Groupon nor have I ever paid extra for that). He then proceeded to have me prep all of the foils that were going to be used. WTF? I get that it speeds the process up, but really? The whole time he was foiling, I felt like he was trying to rush through the whole thing...like I was being an inconvenience for being there. It wasn't even close to closing time, so I don't understand the rush. Also of note, he had to stop to take another phone call (from the same person) to figure out billing issues. Not cool. I had to sit through him asking why my hair was SO long, him basically telling me that I was too old to be using cheap shampoo (but offered up no products as suggestions--also, I'm 34, so it's not like I'm ancient), and him JUST DYING to cut off my bad hair, but having no time to do it. Wow. The color turned out okay, but the toner faded after 2 weeks (and I was NOT using cheap shampoo). 1.5 stars, and that's being generous. read more

Best highlights and cut I've ever had. I have been through MANY stylists for varying reasons and Rodney is now My go-to guy. My hair is thin and easily damaged, so going lighter can be tricky and I have had my hair fried many times by inexperienced professionals. He also cut is very good about cutting off my dry ends while still leaving the length. I have no idea where these bad reviews are coming from....he's not overly bubbly or extroverted, while still being fun to talk to and get to to know, which I interpret to be a very genuine quality. read more

I went to Rodney with my Living Social coupon and have been back two times since. I think he is great! Love his personality, he is down to earth, and says what he feels, not what he thinks that I want to hear, what a breath of fresh air that is! I appreciate that in a person. I would much rather have someone tell me the truth, the way it is, rather than have them fluff it up and lie. For years, I have been looking for a stylist that I can call my own, and "stick with", I think I have finally found him! Regarding the review below and Rodney being on the phone. One never knows what another person is going through. Maybe he had a family tragedy? Maybe he had to leave right away, but was nice enough to stay and finish your hair? We all have times at work, when we "need to take this call" . Keep in mind, that these stylist are their own receptionist, bookkeeper, cleaner and manager of their own business! They don't have a staff, they are a one person show and I think it is great, and good for them! Also to the same reviewer, isn't it nice that Rodney didn't PUSH his products on you? I don't like when stylist do that, and many do! I didn't come for a "sales pitch", I go to relax. If you couldn't see that he has products on his shelf for sale, you are stupid! read more

Super great experience. Rodney was really friendly and at the end I was really really happy with the results. He did have me wrap foils around a board, so if you're bothered by that, that may be a thing- but I think they gave me the best foils I've ever had, and kept me present in the moment and conversation instead of zoning out over spider solitaire. (plus super easy, just hand him a board and a foil) Really knowledgeable guy, funny, and easy to talk with. Nothing like the bad reviews above.... I saw a voucher on groupon or livingsocial, I can't remember, but it was for a full highlight/lowlight of my choosing. I booked my appointment online, commented that I had a voucher and wanted lowlights...when I went to submit...it said I needed to call to make an appointment. Anyways, I called to make an appointment with him and he was able to get me in the next day, but was rude about it. He complained that he was doing my hair for practically free and that it was going to be rushed. He asked me not to use the voucher and to pay full price.....REALLY?! So I show up...he hands me the color swatches and I pick the color I want. We go back and forth about what color I "should" get and then I finally decide that I want lowlights like I mentioned previously because fall is coming. He wasn't happy with my decision. He complained that whoever did my hair previously must not have known what they were doing and that my previous highlights basically looked like crap. He handed me a stack of foils and a plastic board and preceded to tell me that this was my job and as soon as he handed me the board I was suppose to wrap the foil for him and hand it to him as he needed. I thanked him for getting me in on such short notice and he rudely remarked, "Couldn't get you in any other time...work must really have you tied up!" I said, yes...I do work M-F like every other normal individual I know, but I also work occasional Saturdays. I had to work that Saturday so I had Thursday off for him to do my hair. Anyways...he said that I was getting squeezed into his lunch break and that he doesn't get a lunch today.... Hmmm....I thought to myself....I did see him outside smoking before I came into the salon.... Anyways...the color was put in and as he was blowdrying my hair he remarked that it really should be cut because whoever did it last made it completely uneven and I shouldn't be out in public with it the way it was. Well...he obviously...didn't have time to cut it so I told him that I would get it cut later and besides...I had a wedding the following weekend and needed it longer for an updo. He had a snide remark about that, too. The visit was coming to an end and he asked if I was going to use the voucher. I said that I think so and handed it to him...and as I was looking for a tip...he said, "Just so you know...normally prices start at $100 and the voucher does not include gratuity. I threw him some money to keep him content and left..... I'm sure there are more things that I could say about my experience, but frankly, I'm tired of writing about it. Hopefully, "Rockin'" Rodney figures out his game plan before working on anybody else's hair. read more

Rodney did a great job on my hair, I love it! He was also very enjoyable to talk with, very friendly. Overall great experience.

Please do not trust your hair at this salon. I found Rodney on Groupon, when I called to make an appointment he asked that I do not purchase it as he's an independent and they take a 50% margin cut... perfectly fine, I get that! What bothered me, apart from him trying to over charge me at the end - more than the Groupon cost itself - and terrible customer service throughout the cut, was the hair cut itself! I asked for one solid layer and I now have multiple uneven layers, and my ends are so crooked from section to section that I now have to go get it re cut due to his lack of effort and carelessness. read more

Rodney cut my hair a couple of weeks ago and I was/am very happy with it. I hadn't gone to a 'professional' salon in years--mainly Fantastic Sams. But my condition/cut/style were great! I have received more compliments on my hair in the last few weeks, even by male co-workers, then in the last 7-8 years. Great Job! read more

Terrible service, extremely unprofessional. He made me fold & hand him my foils for my highlights, instead of relaxing & enjoying myself. He then answered his phone & made plans with his friend. He answered numerous text messages throughout the entire appointment. Haircut was HORENDOUS.
