This store is big but has very unkind and unhelpful staff. Will not ever make this drive again.

The sales reps in this store seemed racist. I witnessed a Black woman customer tell the Asian woman at the register that she would no longer will shop in the store because another Asian worker followed her around the store for the entirety of her visit.No one apologized and said they were wrong. This is a prime example of how we as Black women will spend our hard earned money and shop at these Asian beauty supply stores, Chinese restaurants, etc and in return they quick to profile. I stood with that sister and I will not be returning. If they took returns I would have returned the items that I purchased and they had the nerve to have Gospel music playing at the same time while disrespecting us. So this place is a NoGo EVER if you can. I mean from the pot hole filled parking lot to the smelly inside with the "You Buy Now" employees who stand over you without helping you just over you to ensure you don't steal. Well Mr and Mrs Beauty 101 owners, Bianka M and family are no thieves. We honestly only stopped there because years ago we stopped to this dump while driving up Independence as my husband was on a quest to find a particular blade that we only can find up North (back home) & just so happen they had it that visit. He has been on a mad man search to relocate this place as it was so unmemorable that we didn't recall where it was located on 74 so I searched my past check ins while in the area and found it. DO NOT SHOP HERE !!!! They will follow you around the shop constantly , they like to overcharge for their prices , & they also harass you when you're looking at the braiding hair & wigs. My mom & I were looking for a nice wig to fit her & every other isle I was on they would follow you. My message to this store is , Not everybody is a thief. They also won't give you a discount with your cosmetology degree like they said they would. I've been in there system for years & they said my degree is fake & they're not professional. Avoid this place. It's in a shared shopping center behind an apartment complex. When you enter there are several signs of what not to do and what to do. It's very demeaning and punitive when you are choosing to shop at this store. The store has several hair products, wigs, cheap clothes, however the costs are higher then anywhere. The staff assume all customers are thieves and strictly watch people on their laptops which you shop instead of greeting you or helping. It's weird and not comfortable. It's not okay to be treated like a criminal. Being watched and talked to in a belittling way. The sales person tells the price and puts there hand out. No thank you. No come again or even how can I help you. I do not recommend and feel that many shop here due to location and limited transportation, however many stores sales the same items they sale here. Design essentials is sold on amazon for half the price. It's $11.99 at this store and $6.00 on Amazon!!! FYI read your receipt -They have a no return policy and only exchanges for thirty days. Second time there . The man at the cash register was really nice and gave me store credit for my hair I purchased weeks ago which I have no issue with . There was another lady at the cash counter when I went back to purchase three items and I felt as though she was racial profiling me. I did not appreciate that for the simple fact I originally purchased 100 and something worth of items . After my store credit is done won't return. read more

I've been going to this store for the past 6 years and never had a problem. I'm a part-time braider and every time I enter the store the owner is always very friendly. They usually have every product that I ever came there for and if they don't have it, I ask about it and they order it. Prices are reasonable. I'm not about to drive alllll the way across town to Tisuns just to get something for a couple of dollars cheaper. Never had a problem with exchanging hair either. Honestly, These people are wayyyy nicer than summa the stores that I've been in over the years! Y'all don't know rude and nasty! I will never spend another dime in this place! They just disrespected me...talking and treating me like I don't matter. Now I see why so many people are talking about the place. Calling All Pageant Girls! I love this store!!! They are great with helping match my extensions and have lots of length options. And cheap earrings that you can use to dazzle your garments and also lots of eyelashes. They have always been really kind to me and helpful but I also follow their rules. Very poor customer service. They act as if you're bothering them and know they're one of the only stores in the area. This is probably why they act so nonchalant about providing service. Don't tell me it's their behavior is cultural, because they chose to come in this neighborhood and do business so they should try and accommodate the customers cultural norms if anything. Was in there today and they're so money hungry when the lights went out I guess due to weather they had customers using their own phone flashlights to find products instead of simply closing the store. DO NOT WASTE your time going there!!! There's no one there willing to help you find anything, and when they do it's like they're doing you a favor, and not trying to earn your business. The guy who I believe is the manager is rude and acts like everyone walking in the door is a potential shoplifter. I purchased a wig that said it can take heat, while attempting to flat iron on the recommended setting the hair melted. I lowered my iron to 180 degrees and waited awhile to let it cool the hair still melted. I took it back today and the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. He told me I shouldn't have put a flat iron on it. After me refusing to leave the store because he wouldn't give the money back he called the manufacturer who agreed to replace the product. He could have called the manufacturer from the get go. The manager said I wasn't a professional, I shouldn't have used a flat iron but only a curling iron. He allowed me to exchange only even though he was not at a loss and actually got a free product and paid for the same item. The manager advised me that although the product I settled for said it takes heat that if I put heat on it and it melts again that I needed to go back to the vendor. This store doesn't stand behind the products in store and have no intention of ensuring quality for their customers. read more
