Employee shift managers who are not just over the age of teenagers. I have had several bad experiences with shift young adults at this Beauty Brands. This location Beauty Brands worked well for me for years, but this past year, I have been increasingly concerned about the employees at the checkin counter ability to do their jobs. Some have no tack and have rude to me. Pay more so mature employees with customer service experience. Beauty brands needs a class of education on customer service given to customer service staff in KC Mo. the professional nail and spa staff are excellent, but customer service in Liberty and Barry Road continues to have problems. Tip to management, pay more to attract mature customer service employees, with excellent experience serving customers. read more

The salon front desk could improve. I scheduled my appointment stating I hadn't been in, in over a year and had long hair (middle of my back). I stated I needed a cut and highlight. When I came in the service took four hours and carol was great however, I do have a small orange streak in the front I need fixed. Additionally i was told that next time you come in to tell the front desk I have long hair so they could schedule appropriately. I was blamed... and the other customers that were booked came back as I was in the chair making comments. I got dirty looks. I won't be back. No one even asked me... they all assumed it was me not telling the front desk. Should have looked through the reviews on here before going into Beauty Brands. The unpleasant experience started when I called to make an appointment. Whoever answered the phone was obviously in a rush and didn't ever repeat back to me my schedule time I literally had to call back when she hung up on me. Then I get there. I tell her exactly what I want & have photos. I was bringing my blonde up more and getting fringe bangs. Well somehow she darkened my hair and chopped my bangs above my eyebrows.. I'm so upset it's terrible. The lady apologized several times. I didn't want to cause a confrontation so I just left. When I got home I realized I'd just spent 100$ on something I'm almost crying over. So I called back to speak with a manager... The manager did not apologize one time. She would not give me a refund. I have gotten my hair cut several times at this location with different stylist and have had okay experiences. I've been to Cassidy before and it was fine. I went a couple days ago with her for a trim and received the worst haircut I have ever had. There was a chunk of hair in the back of my head that was massively shorter than the rest of my head and literally everything was uneven. I'm incredibly disappointed given that my hair was at my belly button before getting it cut and now it's to my boobs after I had my coworker (shes a cosmologist) fix it for me. This is completely unacceptable if I'm spending $41 for a haircut that she only spent 20 minutes on and didnt even check once if it's even. read more

This was my first appointment with Deborah O (6519 NW Barry Rd.). I brought her an 8x10 photo of the hairstyle I wanted which was a wedge cut. What she gave me was a shoulder length Bob. I told her that it doesn't look anything like the photo and she said, but this style is cute isn't it? Then she said I think we need to take a little off the bangs. I said no, she said just a little. My bangs were a little below chin length for a reason, I like to tuck them behind my ears. I didn't have my glasses on, and thought she was putting styling products in my hair. blow drying etc. When I got out to the car I immediately put my bangs behind my ears and discovered she had chopped off 5 inches of a portion of my bangs! I don't understand, Deborah did not cut my hair the way I wanted it, she just did whatever she wanted to do and when I complained about the Bob cut she gave me, she chopped off my bangs out of spite. If someone comes into your Salon with a photo and you know you can not do the style they are asking for, then be honest and tell us so we can go find another hairstylist who can cut our hair the way we want. Needed to have gel Polish removed so I booked an appointment with Brooke. She was rushed the entire time, and didn't even remove all the gel. Stated the reason was because she was not expecting that type of gel ( her coworker previously did my nails - same salon) She actually gave me the nail files she used and said I could finish it at home and her next appointment was there. Carla is the best! I've had Allison and a bunch of other master stylists do my hair and I honestly would trust any master stylist to cut my hair here. That being said Carla is by far my favorite. She checks and triple checks that she's cut my hair correctly. I get extremely short Bettie Page inspired bangs which normally scare most hairdressers but Carla was fine with it and listened to me. She also cut my hair into something cute even though I myself didn't know what I wanted since I've been growing my hair out. My hair is also extremely thick and curly and she thinned and cut my hair to perfection. Absolutely the best place to cut your hair out of the master stylists and know it'll look amazing without fear. Been getting my hair cut here for over a year now and always just pick whatever master stylist is available and haven't been disappointed. Would recommend to anyone. read more

I had my color done twice here now by a senior and master stylist and just.don't.do.it. What once was a blossoming salon has devolved into a step above great clips. My stylist took the picture of what I wanted and did whatever the hell she wanted (or was capable of). So while I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars (and months of time) getting my hair prepped for the look I was going for, one trip to beauty brands ruined all of it. I should've read reviews and listened to my gut on this one. Don't bother making an online appointment. I made an appointment for Monday at 1:00. They called the day before to confirm. Monday, the day of my appointment, they called at 12:15 to say that my stylist was there but she was running an hour and 45 minutes behind. Since they only started taking appointments at noon on that day, how is it possible to be an hour and 45 minutes behind at 12:15? It's pretty obvious that they either double booked or took a walk-in appointment ahead of my scheduled appointment. When I spoke to the manager, she didn't have an explanation for the lateness. She offered to try to work me in, but why would I want to sit and wait for an open stylist when I already had an appointment? I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I met my stylist when BB did a ladies night (which was a glorified product sell a-thon, but a good excuse to get out.) She straightened my S-I-L 's hair and it looked nice. So, before my birthday, I was in a crisis, suddenly having the profile of Gene Simmons, I rocked it on over to the Superstore. I just recently started going here, after successes and failures over the years with my stylists. I am very very happy with the ladies I have found at this location. The KCK one is right by my house, but I choose to drive to this one. I see Corinne for my hair and Sam for eyebrows and facials. Both are excellent!!! Very friendly, professional, and great at what they do. In addition, the rates are very reasonable. I paid 25 for my haircut (long) and 13 for my eyebrow wax BUT I had a coupon for FREE wax since I am on their frequent flyer program or whatever it is. I've came here for years and I have never been disappointed. They do such a fantastic job and make it such a relaxing experience. I have always came here for the hair services but I hope to catch a spa day soon! It is pricey but I feel like it's worth it. I have a crazy obsession with my hair and I don't want to look like a fool! I pay the price for awesome looking hair and I don't care (OK now I am sounding like a hair product commercial)! I have had different stylists but my favorites are Kara and Miranda. Kara got me to color my hair auburn (which I have NEVER done before). She is so informative and awesome. She did such a great job on my cut as well as giving me tips to keep my hair healthy and gorgeous. I loved how comfortable she made me feel. My daughter went to beauty brands today to get her styled for her senior homecoming dance. Her appt was with Cassidy. She came home in tears. It looked horrible. She said she was in the chair a total of 6 min. She told the stylist she wasn't happy with it but was told she didn't have time to do anything else. Right when she was "finished" she looked over and told someone she was done and asked if she could leave. I am so disappointed and will never be back. Ok, so I am a cancer survivor & my recovery did not go as planned! I am now back going to radiation & chemo for the next seven weeks. For nails--Ashley Anderson, the MASTER nail tech-is excellent. The difference at BB over the less expensive salons, are that they do everything by hand--no dremmel tools! They use REAL gel, not the powdered stuff that doesn't last a week without breaking. Ashley is not only GREAT at what she does, but she is fun, personable and a professional. Hit the hairspray and shampoo liter sales here in the summer and stock up. I spend about $60 on hairspray and it lasts me all year! read more

This isn't about the physical Beauty Brands store but about ordering from BEAUTY BRANDS.COM. Don't do it! I placed a large order. They sent me a notice my order had shipped. Two weeks later, no order. I called them but nobody answers the phone, you have to leave a message. No return call. I emailed them, no response. There was NO tracking number on the order, so I couldn't track it on my own. The order arrived yesterday. The box was large and items were just placed in the box with nothing to secure them. One of the products had a cracked in half lid with only half of the lid on the container. It was a train wreck. I will NEVER order from them again and hope this helps somebody else keep from experiencing what I did. read more

I was staying with my parents and my regular salon was closed plus I'm not local to the area (I used to be however). Beauty Brands was open and the woman I spoke to scheduled my appt. Becky was super friendly, meticulous and did a fabulous job. And the price wasn't bad considering it was the only nail salon open at 7 pm on a Saturday.
