I am visiting Waco for the weekend, and I am desperately overdue for a haircut. I searched online and found this salon close to my hotel. They had very convenient booking online with information about all of their stylists. Dee Dee is a master stylist and I snagged her last appointment of the day. My hair was in serious need of professional help! She was so pleasant and kind. She was very thorough and took her time while we decided what we were going to do and even though I brought inspiration pictures, she still explained the cut to me. I am very happy with my result. In fact, her service was excellent. I made an appointment for the Spring to drive back to Waco to see her. The store has a lot of haircare brands. Any hair brand you're thinking of - they carry the line. All of the employees were very friendly, and I am very pleased! Highly, highly recommended. Everyone working there seemed very professional. And they have all different levels of stylists, so depending on what service you need or what your budget is, I feel that they have someone there who can do your hair. read more

The manager, Dory, ruins this place. She does not care about the customers! I had to reschedule several of my haircuts, but I ALWAYS did so in a timely manner. I would change my appointment within 72 hours! She said that was not acceptable and I should be a walk-in-only client! Anna Marie, who gave me several good cuts, and I tipped her at 40%, even gave her a 100% tip at Christmas did not want me as a client anymore because a couple of times I wanted her to take a little more off here or there. I complimented profusely, but she was still offended that I would return and ask for a tweak. It was not her. I was learning about my new hair texture now that I'm in my 50s. read more

Disclaimer: I am an esthetician and I know what it's like to be surrounded by women or walking into places that are predominately female - I also know how annoying we, as emotional creatures, can be. With that being said, this place was THE OPPOSITE! From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out I received excellent customer service from several employees. Being shown what I asked for and kindness. That's the biggest thing - KINDNESS! Where is that today? It's not at a lot of places, but it is here. :) it's also within all of us but that's a diff story lol. Anyway, thanks ladies! I appreciate y'all. They also give discounts to professionals in the industry. (I showed them my wallet sized license.) and it was meant to be because with my hair products I snagged some FULL SIZE tarte mascara for like 12$. Cmon y'all. I was looking for natural, vegan, responsible cosmetics and they were the only ones I could find in Waco that had what I was hunting. I'm from LA, so I was pretty nervous about getting a haircut in Texas. When I walked in, the ladies working at Beauty Brands were very friendly and helpful. I was able to schedule a hair appointment the very next day. I asked for just a trim to clean up my split ends, nothing fancy, and I was pretty happy with the result. I spent less than $40 for a wash, cut, and blow dry, and I think I definitely got my monies worth. That being said, I usually only get the trickier haircuts like color and styles for special events, somewhere that I think the stylists themselves have great style and great looking hair. I'm not sure I would come back for those, but for a quick trim, definitely satisfied. read more

I walked in on a whim during the wee hours and received one of the best pixie cuts of my life! Worth the price, plus I received a 20% discount as a first-time customer, which wound up knocking about $8 off my bill. Everyone was helpful and courteous. I owe most of my gratitude to Robbie, he is an excellent stylist and a super cool guy to boot! Sad customer service. Store manager refused me service bc I cannot wear a mask, being 9 months pregnant and my unborn child having a heart arrhythmia. Explained this to the store manager and she cited a city ordinance that was expired and then cited company policy. So currently they refuse you service because you cannot physically wear a mask, what's next? Because of the color of my skin? Attempted to buy my products online first but they were not available online. So the amount of time I was in the store being refused service I could have got my items and checked out. Spend lots of money and $100s during the liter sale but will NEVER return. read more

In short... Monica & Casey-4 stars, Ill refer to her as "A"-1 star... I've used them a couple other occasions. I must say Monica and Casey are fantastic. The experience with them made me come back. Unfortunately, I had family pictures come up last minute and they were booked. I was willing to try another hair dresser because of the wonderful experience I had with both of them. With that being said, I was really excited to get my hair done. I've really been wanting to try bangs and ombré. I must say I was disappointed with this experience. My stylist did not seem very personable. She felt like she didn't want to be there. Sat half of the time while doing my hair. Didn't have anything ready. Kept having to leave because she forgot a product. Didn't seem to care what I wanted done. Never bothered to ask what kind of hair cut I wanted. She just made sure I wanted bangs before snipping them but never bothered to ask what kind. When she was done, not only was it not what I asked her to do, she left hairs all over my face and didn't bother to wipe them off or point it out. I was upset and was just planning on dealing with it or going to a different salon/spa to fix it. Normally I don't care about how expensive a salon might be as long as there is quality and I am satisfied but, when I looked at my receipt, I realized it was the most I ever paid to get my hair done and was no where near satisfied. Irritated I finally decided to go back up there and speak with a manager. I wasn't trying to cause trouble and just wanted my hair fixed. The manager seemed somewhat understanding. She scheduled my hair to be redone. The only thing I would have liked is if she offered another stylist to do my hair. The next day was extremely uncomfortable. The stylist never apologized. Seemed to be extra moody and rough with my hair and made my hair look a little closer to what I want but not quite there. I actually apologized for taking up her time again. I did feel bad for her having to do it again but in reality it should have been done right the first time. I was hoping the manager would at least follow up to see if everything was ok, but I guess she was too busy. I will not be coming back, even though I enjoyed Monica and Casey just because how uncomfortable it'll be. I also work in a place where people ask for a lot of recommendations to eat, shop, spas... Etc but I'm sorry to say I will most definitely not recommend Beauty Brands to anyone anymore. I really would hate for them to have this kind of experience. I'm not saying all the hairdressers are bad there, but with this particular one working there I wouldn't want someone being the unlucky one to get her. read more

I have been having my hair colored at this store for six months. Two months ago my haircolor was incorrect and when I came back to have it repaired I was charged for the correction. When I complained to my stylist about being charged for her mistake I was given a $10 discount so I only paid $35 instead of 45 :-(I decided to give her one more try since I've been going to her for a while. This time I was only given a root touch up from my ears up but I was charged the full $45. While in the chair waiting on my color to process I learned that one of the girls had a kidney stone, one of the other girls thought she was having kidney stones and then they had to reschedule for the girl with kidney stones and the woman doing the scheduling complained the entire time about having to do it! I know that my observations are from only two hairstylists but this place does not seem very professional and they seem to not care for their customers as much as they care for the dollars of their customers. It's neat and clean and friendly but for my money I did not feel 'cared about'. It is conveniently located though so I may risk trying one more stylist... read more

Before today I would have given beauty brands a 3-4. I have gone here a dozen times since moving to Waco. I have had good experiences with the stylists but haven't really found a look I love until recently so haven't been too picky. But every time I would find someone I really loved and call back for another appointment they had changed schedules or weren't even there anymore. Frustrating but ok, whatever. Today, however I went in with a particular picture of what I wanted. I was so excited when the lady started talking to me about my fine hair and explaining she had it also. Perfect! I thought. Finally someone who understands my hair. She was doing a great job until she decided to stop halfway through and go talk to another stylist. She comes back a few minutes later and says she is going to have the other stylist show her how to curl my hair properly. Great! No prob. Only thing is when I get to checkout, they turned that "little lesson from one stylist to another" into a $15 blowout charge for me. I hope you enjoy that $15. Because it's the last you're getting from me. P.S. Got home that night and had to fix my hair because she didn't even cut it evenly in the front. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience with another salon on Sunday that was supposed to do my hair and make-up for my maternity pictures & when I showed up crying at Beauty Brands asking if there was anyone that could style my hair, Donna and the staff went above and beyond! Deidra is wonderful. The best stylist I have been to in years! She books quickly and only works during the week and every other Tuesday. I am black. So naturally she does black hair and that includes weaves. The prices are going to be higher than let's say Walmart, but it's worth it and the end result is amazing. read more

I'm looking to purchase a Massage as a gift in the Waco area. I called this place because I'm looking for a location that is open on Sundays. The website price it shows me is $76 for a 90 min massage and $39 for a 60 min massage, however I'm being quoted a price of $70 plus dollars for a 60 min massage. When asking why the difference I'm being told prices depend on level of experience the person has and their "current" massage therapist is a Senior level so the prices are higher. Then I confirmed that they are at least open on Sunday's as the website indicates and I'm being told she is not in on Sundays. Very disappointing experience when trying to get a gift together for someone and I'm in need of specifics. this type of information should be displayed on the website somewhere. read more
