Update: see her response below. Which convinced me to change my review to 1 star and taught me that being 'kind' was totally lost on her. To clarify a couple of her claims below: - she refers to "we" stayed late etc... she is a one woman show, in a 8x8 side storage room in a salon...no "WE". - I didn't ask for special hours, she offered. If she didn't want to be there, she shouldn't offer. - She has very limited hours, 2) 3-4 hour days a week. She closes early for church, she has been out of town multiple times. I worked around all of that. "No refunds under any circumstances" . Understood, this is meant to cover people who habitually cancel. That's not me and the right thing to do for a repeat customer: apologize (which she did), refund the deposit, redo the service for free. with a refund, this review would have never happened. Her stubbornness and lack of professionalism has cost her a client, referrals and a bad review. So I am out a deposit AND the cost of the lashes that fell out and irritated my eyes. Until this becomes a business with normal hours, and she learns customer service and business etiquette, I predict that she will struggle. My humble opinion after 50 years in the business world. Jayne ------ I really loved Jade and I would much rather post good reviews than anything negative but I had an experience that was very unprofessional. Although I am surprised, she is young, and will learn that having valued clients is worth gold. I've been to her several times: mostly i have been thrilled with my lashes. The last time it felt 'hurried' (she was leaving for Vegas the next day so this was Sunday, last minute before she left.). By the next morning, SO many lashes were falling out. They weren't MY lashes glued to artificial lashes... only the long, artificial lashes. more than 10 at a time. I don't know the 'mechanics' of lash artistry but this had never happened before so I can only assume that she was rushing and they were somehow not glued properly. Within a few hours, my eye lids were red, puffy and so itchy I had to keep washing them for relief. While washing them I noticed small, sharp glue 'crystal' at the base of the lashes. If one of the lashes with that 'crystal' came out, my eye lid didn't itch in that spot anymore. So, I could only assume the crystal of glue was the issue. I text Jade on Tuesday, saying I was really struggling with the lashes and that I suspected the glue 'crystals' was the culprit. She said she would redo my lashes, for FREE that next Saturday. I told her I was leaving town the following day, through the weekend so it would have to wait until Monday. To say the least, that left me with 1/2 my lashes missing, and my eyes still irritated because there are still lashes with that sharp base. Eventually, they all came off from the eye cream i used to smooth my eyes. Monday came, all of my fake lashes were gone (not even a full 2 weeks) and I had already scheduled and paid $50 deposit for my next appointment that Thursday, so, I just let it go. Thursday, the day of my 4:30 appointment, I text her around noon, to tell her I would be 15min. Late for my appointment. She told me that wouldn't work for her, she would be late for church. After what I'd been through the week before, this did NOT make me happy. It really stunned me that she was more concerned about was being 15 min. Late for church than of taking care of a client that had issues with her service. As I was not going to have my appointment that she was doing for FREE anyway, I asked for my appointment deposit back and was told "I'm sorry, it's not refundable". That was the final straw. She text me a few times that afternoon asking when I wanted to reschedule and I just said "no". I told her that I THOUGHT since I'd had so many issues and she was doing my appointment FREE, she would refund my deposit but I guessed I was wrong. She never refunded the deposit. Here's the reason I'm reviewing her: in business, any client is worthy of being a little late for you personally life. And not refunding a deposit, when they've had issues with the service and you've promised to redo for FREE - is absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable if you want your business to survive. I love that her faith is important to her but this is supposedly a business, not a hobby. She needs to accept that sometimes clients come before your personal commitments and being a few minutes late to something should NOT be an issue a client needs to work around. In closing, I am really disappointed, I like her a lot, she was very close to my home and she seemed so mature and 'together'. I just hope no other client has this experience and she learns that running a business means customer service FIRST, I would hate to see her business in CA fail but there's a million choices and people do not return to poor service. I'm so in love with my lashes! Jade did a good job on giving me exactly what I wanted because this was my first time doing lash extensions and I was on the fence about them. I booked under classic, but after describing what I wanted it was more of a wispy look and she was able to accommodate me. Following my original review, Jade replied publicly denying she had been drinking during my appointment. I want to clarify: she was, in fact, doing a pop up at a wine tasting event that day and had clearly been drinking. I don't appreciate being lied to after already experiencing poor service, lack of care instructions, failed gems (both mine and my friend's), and unprofessional follow-up. Denying something that happened instead of taking responsibility only confirms the lack of accountability I mentioned. What's even more disappointing is that instead of replying to me directly or trying to make things right, she completely ignored my messages but responded publicly to my Yelp review in an attempt to save face. That's not accountability -- that's image management. A real professional handles things privately and respectfully with their clients, not just when their reputation is on the line. It's disappointing to see continued deflection instead of accountability. You claim you weren't drinking while working, but I was with you -- the tooth gems were done immediately after the wine tasting event, at the same location. That's just the truth. I also find it unprofessional that you continue to ignore my private messages while choosing to reply publicly, painting yourself as the victim. At no point did I threaten you -- I simply asked for a partial refund after two gems came off, and after you failed to follow through with a proper fix. You provided no paperwork, no aftercare instructions, and no upfront mention of any "30-day policy." If your door was truly open, you would have handled this privately and professionally -- instead of dodging messages and only showing up when your image is on the line. I've spoken honestly and respectfully, and it's unfortunate that you've responded with avoidance and false claims. I'm not the only one this happened to, and that says everything. read more
